@Georgiagranny Have you applied at Walmart? That might interest your DD and she’d be willing to pick you up after work. Maybe you could Uber there.
Nix to Walmart. Not a good place to work. Also a long way from home. Target cutting hours of current employees and not hiring new.

Let's face it, no job fir me🙁.

Good morning. Up since 3:30, but went to bed very early Friday night, so got seven hours sleep. Should go to bed later but can't. Watched tapping video @Happyflowerlady provided. Thank you Yvonne. I'll try anything, I'm desperate.
Went to Library Book Club which was spoiled by my constant shaking. Everyone noticed so I had to explain myself. Embarrassing. See neurologist first Monday in June. Maybe I can get some help.

My DIL running a half marathon today! Will send her a good luck text soon, before she leaves home, since I'm up. Proud of her!

Afternoon folkies... 🌞 🌞 🌞 another gloriously sunny day....

I had a wonderful sleep last night, best I've had in years..... didn't wake up until the alarm woke me.. after 7 hours solid sleep... didn't even get up to go to the bathroom ...goodness knows how long I would have slept if the alarm hadn't gone off .

Hope you all have a good weekend...

Far be it for me to critise anyone for their reasons for doing things when I don't know them... but Gigi.. why is you daughter so against you working .. surely she can't want to see her healthy and realtively fit mum waste away mentally ?

@hollydolly I think she figures it's time for me to "rest," and she knows I don't "need" the money. I can rest when I'm dead...I'll be dead for a long time...and no, I don't need the money, but I wouldn't mind having it.

Her biggest objection is, of course, the hours. It's getting harder and harder to find jobs, almost to the point of not even being possible to buy one. Places that might have been possibilities are cutting back hours of current employees and not hiring at all because, let's face it...what's to sell from empty shelves? Heck, even the drive-thru places like McDonald's aren't hiring. I really don't even know if the biscuit bitch job would be a possibility. It's only a maybe because they just can't keep anybody dependable. Dependable would be me. I'm as dependable as church on Sunday.

Being a biscuit bitch means she'd have to get up at 3:30 to take me to work because Uber is "too dangerous" and too expensive. I don't blame her for not wanting to get up at that hour but don't agree that Uber is too dangerous and don't care about too expensive.

All in all, it's past time for me to simply reconcile myself to the fact that there's just not a job in my future.

Anyway, it's morning again and fixing to rain buckets but probably over by noon. I'll think of something to do until then. Goodness! While I was typing, the sky got as dark as the inside of a cow's belly👀 and it's silent as a tomb...wut wo!

Good morning all folks!! :) Sorta restless sleep but whatever,
it cooled down to 51F this morn, hi temp will be abt 70f...NO
rain expected...sunny and nice out rite now....body is very achy
and sore today for some reason, but why not?!....Not sure what
I will get up to today, but will find something to do, or not :p
Have a great day everyone!!!!:love::coffee::devilish:

I've just been having a look around the garden, and I noticed that all the choisya at the very back corner next to the Laurel hedge has blossomed almost out of control... Not like me to miss that , and not keep it well trimmed, but all the hot weather in the last month must have worked it's magic on it without me noticing, and it's behind the barn so not easy to see..... so in a little while I'll go and trim all of that back....

Good morning to everyone. A family friend, young man is coming over to do some chores for us this morning. He is very good at fixing things and does a lot of remodeling in his own home. He likes coca cola, so bought him some to drink and take home.

Take care, everyone and enjoy your day. Special wishes to Georgiagranny, I hope you can find a job to do that will fit with your concerns.

Was supposed to be a rainy day, but thankfully the sun is shining for DIL's half marathon. I'm so thrilled for her to undertake this event! Son/grandson will meet her at the finish line! To get there, they must take a subway train and they will pass my stop. I asked son to tell grandson that this is where Grandma lives, so when he is old enough he can visit Grandma!

didn't you feel you could go and watch?

I can't find the thread about older people being awesome so I'll post this here... very touching and inspiring.

this is a short TV series showing the talents of ordinary people playing the pianos in all the train stations up and down the country that house pianos... mostly Paddington station London, but in this instance at a train station in Newcastle , which is the far north of England...

The interviewer is a well known TV presenter, known mainly for presenting Strictly Come Dancing, her name is Claudia Winkleman

I'm just taking a break from the hedge and shrub trimming... this was the corner that was overgrown...first time ever in 45 years...

This is it after I attacked it with the hedge trimmer....
IMG-7908.jpg

to give you an idea of space... that gap now is about 10 feet wide.... ...

I started on the face of the Laurel hedge which is to the right of the choisya ... and is 30 feet high.. and about the same wide.... but the trimmer ran out of charge, so I've had to put the battery on charge, and it will take about 4 hours to fully charge, and about 2 to allow me enough power to just finish off the rest of what I was doing..

In the meantime I got the long reach trimmer out and chopped the top of the hedge which run alongs the fences and blow me if I only got about 20 feet of hedge done and that bettery ran out too.. so they're both on charge now...

I'm just having a cold drink and then I'll go back and rake up everything....

Well I had a visual shock upon opening the back door, no not
the bear...but a "pair of tents"!! Quite surprising in this
neighbor hood....the lady who lives there is an R.N., and works
odd hours, unmarried, but have seen a guy there a few times,
now two tents 2person I think, dunno when they went up, overnite I guess....and am seeing two different vehicles
coming/going into her driveway...these tents are about 15 foot
from my back door.....so will see what comes about, hope fully
nothing!!! ;)🎪

Party? Company? What does the grapevine know that you do not?

Had a busy errand day yesterday - went to my produce store, then Aldi and then dropped into 5 Below. Not having been in a 5B before, I'd hoped/expected a more interesting, wider selection of goods. Came home to drop off the groceries, then left for doc's office for my and DH's Covid booster appointments. Walmart parking lot on the way home - I'd chosen the pickup time perfectly.

Other than a sore arm and some chills yesterday evening, I'm not dealing with a lot of side effects from the shot and hope it stays that way. DH, on the other hand, is a mess. His immune system still isn't up to par after some medical treatments earlier this year. There's a dramatic difference between his response to this booster and earlier ones.

You may recall that I had Covid twice last year. It kicked my butt both times, despite being vaxxed. I sure don't want to get it again, but if I do, I don't want a heavier case than those. So I stay up to date on the vaccines.

No plans for today other than trying to ease my sweet DH's discomfort. He's not a complainer so I'll try to read between the lines and proactively offer to do things he might find helpful. I know he won't ask.

Unfortunately, no. If the elevator was installed at my subway station, and it is taking forever to get it finished, then a definite yes. I can't handle the steep stairs at my station.

Received a pic of grandson on train, with my station's name in back of him!
Oh I totally understand about not haviing the lift at the station. I presume there's no escalators... like these at our stations because our underground rail is so far below ground.. compared to New York City

Often if a station has no lifts working here in certain London stations , the tube will sometimes not stop, and instead go onto the next station... for example, there's no chance anyone who has any kind of disabilty could cope with the stairs at Hampstead station....most able people can't...
