How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

The hospital is driving me crazy calling and wanting to send me home health.

"You're entitled to it!" Well, maybe so but I DON'T NEED IT, DAMMIT!

Heck, I came home from the hospital Tuesday night and went to Walmart by myself on Wednesday. Does that sound like I need home health?

It's just another money-maker for them.

Good morning and Happy Friday to all. August 1st - wowsers... we're already closing in on autumn 2025!!!

Not much doing today, but it's early yet so who knows what might pop up... I ran a load of laundry yesterday and will start another this morning. Mostly sheets and towels today.

I rarely launder more than one load per day because after washing, I run the wet clothes through the dryer for only 10 minutes. Just long enough to shake out the wrinkles so I can hang everything on the pole or the drying rack. No ironing needed.

Everything is usually dry and ready to be put away within 24 hours. When we remodeled 35 years ago, I shifted the laundry "factory" from just outside the kitchen to our attached garage. I wanted the noise and minor chaos of in-process laundry out of the house.

Make it a great day, people and I'll catch you later. @Georgiagranny, hope you optimize my $20.

To stop any arguments with my sister, I told my mother that she would have first dibs on my mother's personal property. My sister took it all! Okay, no worries, it really didn't bother me. But she took all the slides and photos from our babyhood onward, and from my mother's entire life in Germany. She was going to do something with them and send me copies. She didn't do that. She also decided she was the gatekeeper for all of my mother's personal papers, so if I want information from them, she won't give it to me.

The worst part is that she told me what my mother had told her about my not letting her see my kids for 3 years. My mother lied to her! I told her the truth and she told me I was lying!

Then she accused me of stealing a scarf from my mother's possessions. She was really mad about that. Only problem is that I didn't take it. A scarf? These scarves that are decorative -- people wear them around their necks; most were silk. I *hate* wearing scarves. They and ruffles make me feel ridiculous. There is no way I want a scarf. She accused me of lying again!

In the end, I just stopped talking to her. I don't see that changing. I do not like being accused of things I did not do. I do not like her gatekeeper stance. In my immediate family, heck, in my extended family on both sides, I have more education than anyone (attorney, accountant). I have the only children -- triplets and a daughter who was born 1.5 years after them. I am not a dumb woman, nor am I a woman who has lazed around all her life. I haven't actually lazed around at all until I got cancer, and then I had no choice.

You would think I was the black sheep of the family. I honestly think I am, and I don't know why. Maybe it's because when we were in high school, I went out with my friends. She had male eggheads over for evenings of chess. Maybe we are too different. But I will say this, just because I like to have fun and joke around, doesn't mean I am stupid. It means I have a personality and am myself.

She actually hired an attorney to draft my mother's will. The attorney took the will I drafted and copied it, word for word! Except for the executor. My sister talked my mother into making her the executor (on her death bed) because she was more qualified with her bachelor's degree in hotel management.

Oh man, I really am ranting now! Sorry, not sorry.

..and this is the exact opposite to here... have to jump through hoops to try and get help after we've been released from the hospital even with injuries.....

@OneEyedDiva If you were done early, why didn't you come over here and do mine, too?

It's 75F right now but supposed to start raining around noon and rain on and off through Tuesday with much cooler temps. One can hope! I'm not going to water and just let Mother Nature handle it. I'm looking forward to cooler temps for a few days.

DD and DGD are contemplating going into the city to join a protest against ICE. It depends on how far they have to walk from parking to the destination and when the rain is supposed to start (earlier in the city than up here).

Should I make cherry scones? It's kind of a lot of trouble, but according to DD, she and DSIL are for sure starting a serious diet on Monday morning.

Haha I feel like I slept late, it's almost seven. I have been getting up around five to beat the heat, gnats, and skeeters.
I needed that sleep though and it felt good. A dark rainy morning.
I have a lot of prep to do for family dinner tomorrow.

@Georgiagranny , yes!, scones!
@hollydolly , too bad @jujube can't transfer the title on that home health. 🤔
@Pepper , hope you're doing ok.

Did anyone see the budding romance of Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson? For some reason I love that!

Happy Saturday all!

Ok... big deal here today...my New Car has just been delivered. The salesman was so nice... not pushy at all.. genuinely nice.. he brought me the car keys and he'd put a shopping trolley (cart) token on the key chain for me as well.. just a nice little touch

He parked the car where I asked him.. and he'd polished it all before he brought the car .... tbh it looks like a brand new car both inside and out, you'd never guess it was 3 years old..

I won't show the outside because I want to keep something non-identifying... but it's the same car as the red one I posted but it's NOT red...

the floor still has the dealership protective paper on it in case you were wondering

Good morning to everyone. A little cooler today and a little rain in the forecast.

I have not been feeling too well in the past few days but just have to get things done with taking care of our home and my husband due to his disabilities.

I really hope all of you feel well today and enjoy yourselves. :)

It's horrible when you feel poorly but you can't take a day to just sleep or rest, when you have responsibilitie that only you can see to....

I hope you feel better soon.. and it's nothing too serious 🥰

How nice that the dealership gave you the "white gloves" treatment. They should after all as you're parting with a considerable sum of money.
Exciting to get a new vehicle!
May your car deliver you many, many miles of smiles :):)

Morning all folks.....Rae so sorry to hear of that diagnosis, prayers for your peace,..Holly, good to see you upbeat about
your "new" ride....I stayed in bed till 7am, get up to face a very
painful low back, second day of it...new member lucy1 wants
me to go on a trip with her, dunno about that, don't think my
new Bluestreak will take me to her !~!!!
It is beautiful out at 61F, with a high of 79 later and no rain....hoping the lawn guy will be by today, he's costing me
a fortune this year....take good care of yourselves and each other okay!?;):coffee::devilish:

Major fun activity day this August 2 Saturday at 7:45am PDT as I begin organizing my gear. In a couple hours will be driving north the 55 miles to San Francisco to 6 hours of outdoor Grateful Dead covers and jam band music by 3 well-known groups. Huge music events across the city honoring Jerry Garcia's 60th anniversary of his band. The main being, a 3-day Polo Grounds at Golden Gate Park, Dead & Company concert. But at $245 lowest base ticket cost, many older fans like this person have instead opted for this free concert amid a hilly oak forest at McLaren Park's, Jerry Garcia Amphitheater.

No optimizing here today for sure. Only made scones and washed up the dishes. Now there's nothing to do-oo-oo :(.

It was 75 and overcast when I got up this morning. Right now it's 74 and still overcast but no rain yet. It was supposed to start around noon but has been pushed until around 3. I'm gonna be incensed if we don't get any at all.

I've been struggling a lot lately. I had a sort-of falling out with my two daughters. By "sort of" I mean we are still speaking, but I feel terribly hurt and sad. I never developed good coping skills as a child and have been trying to master them as an adult. But today I think I am heading back to bed for a bit.

I'm not asking for support. Just venting.
