Bit of a blip in my health radar... turns out I'm anemic

I realize this is *nothing* compared to what many of you are going through. It's just that I'm so tired all the time--the siren call of the bed is nearly irresistable even with fresh caffeine on board-- I don't have a lot of motivation for much of anything.

So if I'm not on here as much for a while, that's why.

I optimized. Sort of. DD and I went Goodwill shopping, and I found a pair of jeans for $8.73. Goodwill doesn't have rooms for trying things on anymore, but I eyeballed the jeans, and they looked right. Tried them on at home...perfect. Yay. Beats $50 for new. DD bought a lampshade. Talk about excitement...

Then we went to Kroger to get fixings for pasta salad. We were at the self checkout when the attendant came over and said something or other. My response was just blurted out...and came out in German. Whaaaat? She laughed and said she hasn't spoken German in 40 years. Me, either! I dunno where it came from.

That was my excitement for the day. The "new" jeans are in the washer right now. I didn't ask but am hoping that it's DD's plan to make the pasta salad for supper tonight.

@Pepper ....hope everything went well on Thursday with your operation.. don't know if you're still in hospital or at home by now, but wishing you a smooth recovery....

Went out early and set the gate posts and front line fence posts in concrete before it rained.
Then, went into the kitchen and made a peach cobbler.
Oh yeah, I took out the tractor and dug up a huge ant nest in the back yard so the fur babies won't get bit while doing their business. Took a whole front bucket full and hauled it (ants and all) to the outer perimeter of the property and dumped it.

Walked to a different grocery store early to avoid the heat. It’s about two miles. Took a taxi home. I’ve never done that but it worked out ok. Cheaper than their delivery service and I took my time choosing the products I wanted. DH is really frustrated that he can’t use his arm. It probably just needs to rest to repair the tear. I like the walk and will use a taxi or bus when I need to. Or I’ll drive on a quiet Sunday morning.

I've been struggling a lot lately. I had a sort-of falling out with my two daughters. By "sort of" I mean we are still speaking, but I feel terribly hurt and sad. I never developed good coping skills as a child and have been trying to master them as an adult. But today I think I am heading back to bed for a bit.

I'm not asking for support. Just venting.

since my daughter has been an adult, we've only had a falling out of sorts twice.. and it hnestly made me feel ill...

She's very confrontational.. and I usually ignore it, because I am firey, and if I met it head on there would be a massive rift that might never heal... but twice she's pushed the boundaries to the point I had to say something and put her in her place.. and it really caused me a lot of angst... and I didn't like that at all..... so i know how you must be feeling...

I am also anemic and tired all the time. I asked if I needed iron sup and they said what was in my multivitamin was enough. Only problem is I forget to take it. :D

My daughter got her around 1:30 this afternoon. We haven't seen each other in three years! She will be here until about 1 pm on Tuesday. She leaves for France in two weeks.

We went out to lunch at a great BBQ place, and then to TJMaxx. She bought a dress and I bought a bunch of chickpea snacks for my son who lives with me. Then we went back to her hotel and sat around and talked about France, books, how few of her personal possessions she is taking to France, etc. Since I refuse to join Facebook for many good reasons, she wants me to put what's app on my phone. I will figure this out pretty soon.

She tried on the dress she wanted and liked it. Me? Of course out of my mouth come a couple of questions. DD, did you notice the dress doesn't seem to have a neckline? It starts nowhere near the neck! The dress doesn't have a *neck* line. Then where her diaphragm is, there is a little triangle cutout -- little but very noticeable! DD, did you know your dress has a triangle that exposes the skin on your torso?

She asks if I don't like the dress. Of course, my marbles rolled where they are supposed to be, and I said of course I did.

Then she told my stepdaughter that I had told her a few things she already knew, but that was okay. She had to be talking about those 2 questions.

Later I told my stepdaughter about the questions, and she just said, "No worries, that's just the style. Do you remember when you wore a backless, black jumpsuit, covered in silver sequins, that had a plunging neckline, to a work party?"

Yes, I said. But I never showed that outfit to my mother!! (It was much more revealing than my DD's new dress. I decided to quit talking while
I was ahead.)

Besides, DD can basically take care of herself - she can be fierce. She's a chip off the old block.

She sounds just like my older daughter, @hollydolly! (And thank you for the kind post.) She and I both have similar personalities, including a fiery temper, and most of the time we get along fine, but when we disagree it's not happy.

I hate being on the outs with any of my kids, so I usually swallow my feelings and forge on. But lately I've begun to question the wisdom of that approach.

I have two daughters @KSav . I usually bite my tongue if things get heated. I think they do too. Most of the time it's not worth it but if it were I would insist we talk it out. I'm sorry. I hate being on the outs.

I've had a full day. The vegetable lasagna I made ahead for family dinner tomorrow was very involved. Someone better love it! 😁
I also made ahead some stuffed mushrooms. I cut up both a small watermelon and a large cantelope. The cantelope is good the watermelon not so much. I cheated and sprinkled it with a little sugar. Is that wrong? 😉 I peeled fresh potatoes and put them in a bowl of water in the frig to cook tomorrow for the ones who don't want that cheesy lasagna with the meatloaf I'll make tomorrow.
Salad with fresh tomatoes and cukes, garlic bread. Strawberry shortcake from strawberries picked in the spring.
Should be a feast.
Now, I will let them know I do this because I can. I'm retired and caught up and I know they're all busy, busy. However, they will all retire in the next ten to fifteen years and I expect to re-retire and go to their houses and eat. That's fair right?

I was literally up all night doing some financial stuff, catching up with emails, deleting several photos from my Google account and even playing games on my phone. I didn't go to sleep until daylight and wound up sleeping until 3:00 p.m. When I got up I did some purging and organizing.

Next thing I knew it was time to get ready to go to HS#3's studio for the radio broadcast. I wasn't a guest tonight but he likes having me there. Back home I fixed a salad, made my frozen yogurt concoction and caught up on a couple of TV shows. Deja is sleeping in my computer chair otherwise I'd post a GIF for "Have a great, restful night everybody." 😼 🤗

I've managed to injure my left foot - presumably working in the garden. There's supposed to be a storm coming tonight / tomorrow and of course the weather forecast always makes anything sound like a disaster. It doesn't sound any worse than other storms, but it's unusual to have them at this time of year.

Did you sprain it? I have to dodge mole holes in the yard for fear of a sprain. Hope your storm isn't too bad.

I should know by now to keep my mouth shut.

I was talking yesterday about turning a corner with the pain levels.. only to find myself waking last night literally screaming with the pain in my arm as I moved it... due not to my injuries but to the tendonitis in the injured arm.... horrible, horrible pain.. 😩🥺
