Good morning, slept late until 8:00. It makes me late doing morning chores. It is cloudy and rain today sometime. Yesterday, it rained a little but with the thunder, people were in the community swimming pool. Yikes, that is not good.

The Atlantic Ocean is still clear with no disturbances. It is still the high time for hurricanes. Not that I want any.

Have a great day, everyone. :)

I was going to take a walk in the arboretum near me this morning but after my neighbor passing
it made me think, Maybe it's not a good idea to walk that when there are very few if any other
people there during a weekday, just in case.
So I am cleaning out my electric fireplace vents instead. I take inner nudges seriously, they have served
me well over my lifetime. Maybe just a walk down to the lake in our community when it's a bit warmer
So you'all stuck with me today! :ROFLMAO:

Another beautiful sunny day here with temps supposed to hit the mid-80s. I'm loving it!

I ended up feeling run down and achy yesterday, so I got very little done and went to bed around 7:30 pm. I'm feeling a bit better today and have been hard at work. I have a bunch of book chapters I need to do a second read on. Instead of doing that on the computer I printed them out and will take them to the library and read there. I never did sweep out my garage yesterday, so I plan to do that, too.

So, overall a quiet Monday. But I like quiet days!

To recap: wind out of the N, 14-21mph, 45°F, trees swaying so sitting felt good today.

These 2 yearling cow elk came by totally unaware they were being watched.

2yearlingcows.jpeg

They took turns feeding under my tree licking the leaking fluids off the trunk or perhaps the salt from my hands on the steps. It's about 25 feet off the ground to the platform.

Vertical!

And I caught this one yawning a couple times. They eventually scooted off to the bedding area when wind gusts peaked at 21 mph. Elk lose their audio advantage when wind gets over about 15mp making them feel insecure.

Interesting facts about hummingbirds. I bought a fairly large feeder back in the Spring and there for awhile I was having to fill it every couple days but not as many at it now. I had no idea how territorial they could be or how friendly they are. Sometimes when I am replenishing the feeder there will be one or two that are there within a few feet hovering waiting for me. I usually say "okay, give me a minute" lol
Hummingbirds can be very territorial, especially while they are nesting and making babies. We get quite a few hummingbirds each spring and summer. During autumn they start leaving for their migrating flight.

They are crazy over the colour red. One day I wore a white t shirt with bold red stripes and a couple of hummingbirds landed on me and tried feeding off me. Lol. It was a really strange experience. I changed right away.

Have you heard them squeal yet? We have some very verbal male hummmgbirds. When we go out to water our petunias they squeal and flutter back and forth. They are so fast.

I just came from my first meeting of one of the book clubs at my local library (I've been attending one at the library in the next town over for several months); they call the one I attended today the Reverse Book Club because instead of the members choosing one book that everyone reads, we all read a book of our own choice and then share what we liked about it.

Interesting how different the atmosphere is at this one compared to the other... much more erudite and focused. Flannery O'Connor, "A Great Marriage" by Frances Mayes, Faulkner, a non-fiction about the resistance in WWII, and "The God of the Woods" by Liz Moore were mentioned. I gave a run-down of Helen Simonson's "The Hazelbourne Ladies Motorcycle and Flying Club" (her first book--"Major Pettigrew's Last Stand" was very popular and I think her best)

Both groups bring something interesting to the table.

Morning folks 🌺 🌺 🌺

It's another glorious sunny day , temps 66 f.. but feels warmer...

I'm expecting 2 phone calls before 1pm so I'm staying home till they come, because sure as eggs are eggs.. if I go out, they will ring when I'm driving, and I never use the phone when I'm driving...

Later I have to do some top up shoppng, milk bread fruit etc..

@hawkdon ..I had a terrible sleep last night last night..I just couldn't get off to sleep... tossed and turned all night, might have managed an hour, but that's all.. I have no idea why. :( I'm sure I'll feel very tired this afternoon

Morning all, on my early walk at 6:45, temp was 52 sun was up as I strolled around the building before breakfast
This morning at 10 I'll be leading the twice/month new 'Striders Walking Club' with residents who can physically walk farther. Alex{ our events co ordinator}& I came up with a revamped idea. Every Mon at 10, she'll lead' Monday Strolls' with residents who can't go far ,she'll take them around the building
A couple weeks ago I was leading 3 residents around a long block, at the start I said' Can you all walk this far'? 'Oh Yes'. One resident, Andy couldn't keep up ,I had to slow down a couple times, we were almost home when he tripped & fell which rattled me. We picked him back up came home. I told Alex I didn't; want to continue this. She told me' it wasn't your fault and you're not liable'.If someone in my group falls, I call the front desk the guys will come pick up the person. I don;t know who will show up in the lobby this morning
The rest of my day read NYT, take afternoon stroll, read my book ,see what's being offered for dinner

Good morning to everyone, it is cloudy but not too much chance of rain this afternoon, so it will probably pour down.

We have a new neighbor and I am watching to see who they are. So far, it looks like a young man and woman. So, it will be interesting to meet them or just say hello.

Have a nice day to all.:)

Made appointments all morning. Very stressful. Had to delete hundreds of messages on my phone before I could use the app to make transportation. Phone storage FULL! Ended up having to make one appointment on phone as computer couldn't accept the details. Have doctor appointment in two hours.........I'm all stressed out.

I wish I could send you some calm, right now. I'm attending the Ennui Jamboree, I don't know if I can get a to go container.

Well what a day it's been. It's past 5pm.... I went to the same stores I last went to on the day of the accident. It means driving down the motorway.. then onto a very busy HUGE roundabout off the slip road ( where the accident took place ).. my heart was in my boots..

Traffic was horrific as always and I'm normally a very confident driver but this accident has shaken that.. and so I was very nervous when Trucks and large vehicles were getting too close...

Anyway I felt I needed to do this 3 months after the accident, otherwise I will never get back on that road, and it's the major motorway connecting London to the North ...
It was a glorious sunny day 70 deg...🌞🌞 I decided that I would stock up rather than just getting a few bits.. beause that particular M&S sells certain foods that none of the others closer to me do... so I bulk bought many things.. so I don't have to go there again for a while.

Anyway I was just loading the shopping into the boot.. and the SUV in the space next to me starting backing out .. a big guy probably in his 70's.. reversed straight into a parked car.. didn't even look.. smashed a shopping trolley (cart) so the handle broke off as well .. he wasn't even going fast...

He had his window open and he didn't even look to see what happened, he was just 5 feet from me and I called out ''excuse me you've broken off a part of your car''.. he totally ignored me. I thought if I said he'd damaged his own car he would stop and look but he didn't..
Another woman who saw it as she approached said to me '' he doesn't care, obviously''... ...and he drove off without even a backward glance.

I took his registration number and left a note on the damaged car while the other lady picked up the remnants of what looked like a brand new trolley

of course that shook me, it was the last thing I needed to see today.... no-one was hurt thankfully.. but it unnerved me just as I was about to leave and join the masses of London traffic to go home...

Then just 10 minutes after I got home.. the skies went black as coal , the rain poured like a Monsoon.. and we had a thunder & lightening... for about an hour... none of which was forecast.. and now @5.20pm it's sunny again....

Hi, just seeing your post. Yes, I heard them making sounds one day and wondered what it was. I am going to have to wear red and see what happens. lol I have noticed too a bee or yellow jacket will be trying to feed and the hummingbirds will fly away. I guess I thought maybe the opposite would be true.

I can only imagine, @hollydolly! I've been rear-ended twice (both times, someone in front of me slammed on their brakes, and the person behind me wasn't looking), and my anxiety skyrockets if I am approached too quickly from behind. My daughter and I were once stopped in traffic on a highway and a car came zooming up behind us, going so fast I was sure the driver didn't see that traffic had stopped. I actually got lightheaded with fear. Luckily, he slowed at stopped at the last minute.

Your auto accident was far worse than mine were, so I can only imagine how nerve-wracking heavy traffic can get.

And good for you for getting that guy's registration number and leaving that note!
