Well ladies and gents hunting doesn't get more exciting than having a heard of about 50 elk feed around my tree stand this morning. You can tell by the time of day of this post that I didn't kill one. Breeze was light, 0-5mph, out of the nw, 45°F at first light as I climbed the tree.

I heard a few elk bugling from the pastures and hay fields where they spend the night feeding, before retreating to cover to spend the day. I slipped along in the moonlight walking fence lines, river banks, and a burnt over cottonwood stand for the 1 1/2 mile jaunt upriver to the spot trying not to sweat. Change into irrigation boots, several hundred yds later I check for animals and people up and down the river, before crossing to re-change boots and begin actual hunting.

Once in the the tree various bulls are bugling from the pasture, one w a particularly resonant bugle. I give it a minute or 2 so I can be sure it's light enough to shoot and begin cow calling. The bulls respond to the calls and to each others calls. Serious day; not enough hands to take pics.

Eventually they made they're way out of the pasture, across the river, and I begin to see them climb the riverbank. It turns out a group of about 50 crossed including a nice 6x6 and a couple cows pass by my tree giving me an easy shots which I passed on. About that time I see what might be a big bull we knew was lurking in the area. It comes somewhat in to view at about 35 yds. It was a big 7x7! He lingered close for a couple minutes and then wandered off. Heart rate was up! I would catch a glimpse of every couple minutes, but those big boys take a LOT of care deciding where and when to move.

I was right btwn the herd and the bedding area when I spotted another hunter on the ground about 120yds to my south. It wasn't 2 mins later when the herd just up and decided they were out of there. They fast walked their way up river and cleared out, no doubt headed to bed. Sunday typically brings a couple other hunters out, unfortunately.

16 days left, the rut is just getting underway, and after finally seeing the big one I'm in this till the end!

Many thanks Horseless carriage.
I've mostly given up watching the proms, though I might just look for Bohemian Rhapsody on i player. Many years ago, in the early days of 'Proms in the park' we went to the London one, but we were very disappointed. It was soon obvious that it wasn't the music that many people were there for, it was just being there. One to tick off the bucket list.

Over time, I feel that the last night has to a degree, been 'dumbed down' by the 'need' to include everyone from everywhere.
Click on the link of my previous post, you will hear a fifty strong concert orchestra and choir with a version of Bohemian Rhapsody like no other. Whilst the last night at the proms is, or was, a classical music party, I do agree that the proms ain't what it used to be. For a classical party, time after time, look no further than André Rieu. He plays a mix across all musical genres and no pretentions.

Lying on my couch with the fan running (my "comfort" habit).

Spooky is on the floor, she was chasing the laser pointer earlier. Lol
I'm trying to navigate a dating site, hookup site, whatever it is. Funny how these sites there's a lovely lady 0.4 miles from me. I'm sure those are a ruse as I don't have a neighbor closer than 1/8 mile. Having leftover pizza, Coca Cola, going to listen to some music.

An old friend from half my lifetime ago has died, just saw it on Facebook on Wednesday. Have been trying to find out the cause.

Goodnight everyone!
My Godmother, may she R.I.P., had a cat named Spooky. Also, my birthmother's nickname was Spooky; I think my grandmother was the only one who called her that. Since I'm psychic and those close to me sometimes tell me I'm weird and they get spooked by things I do with my mind, I wonder if she had the gift too and if it had anything to do with her nickname.

Good morning. @hawkdon I was up early, too, but considering that I went to bed at 7:30....

It's supposed to get hot here again. I want the season to change and have had enough of summer! Believe it or not, I'm ready to pull up the flowers because they're getting scraggly (they've had enough of summer, too) and because I'm tired of watering, watering, watering. I can't use a sprinkler because there are so many flowers with different water requirements. Next year I'm gonna be more careful about where the annuals are planted.

Yaaaaaaaaaawn... 'scrit-scratch'

Great nights' sleep only up once to let the cat out at 6am. :)

Today we're waiting for news of a used car our local Honda dealer is trying to get for us. I'm very fussy and know exactly what I want!

Possible trip out this afternoon with a photography group I run. May have to cancel it as we have pretty bad weather today and it's a causway crossing that needs to be done at certain times.

Good morning all. Thank you for being here with me. I love you all. Today is better. I'm sorry for being a downer. It's so hard. But you all know that from your own lives.

Yesterday, my son came alone to help me grocery shop. We went to our favorite diner. I had Silver Dollar pancakes with bacon. I ate as if I were starving. I could have had another portion! So, I think I'm not hungry when I am. Don't even know myself anymore.

We separated in the grocery store. I was so overwhelmed to be in a store. The last time I went was months ago. I was scared, had a moment of panic, but pulled myself together, knowing my fear was foolish.

My son is so good and loving to me. I'm so grateful. Grateful is how I feel for ALL of you. Thank you for being with me. Thank you for listening.

Feeling gratitude really helps. It's like an anchor; remembering the good. I am resenting my diminshment. With your help, I'm dragging myself through this experience of life.

Good morning everyone. Another nice day but with no rain. The system in the Atlantic Ocean seems like it might turn and miss the United States again. One can only hope.

We are having our car serviced on Wednesday, so we are going to vacuum the inside and dust the dash. One good thing is it gets washed at the service center.

Have a good day, everyone and hope you are all feeling well.:)

Morning all, on my early walk at 6:45, temp was 59 as I walked around the building twice before breakfast
Today, I've invited a church friend, Ron for lunch and to see my apt. He told me he's been here before, knows one of my neighbors, Andy they used to sing in the Buffalo Gay's Men's Chorus
My friends, Don& his partner, Dave are coming for dinner tonight, made reservation for 5:30 ,look forward to seeing them as always
Enjoy your day

We swimming at the lake yesterday, and it was wonderful! The water wasn't as cold as I thought it would be! We might go again this afternoon. There will be some light rain moving in later, so we'll see what happens.

I jarred my bad knee last night night....TWICE!!!! I was not happy, not at all! This morning the internal swelling seems to have started to go down, so I guess it's starting to get better. I'm still needing to be extra careful, and still not happy about the whole thing. 😠

My mood is set.....

It's an absolutely squally day today... verrry high winds...we don't usually get these winds until early November and then it blows all the leaves off the tree that line the road.. but the trees are not ready to shed their leaves, so they're being bent every which way, and they're big trees!

Have a good start of the week Peeps of SF...🌺

It'll be a very warm 94° today. For 3/4 of my life I've lived in So Cal and know full well September is a summer weather month in this part of the country, but I nevertheless instinctively expect cooler autumn weather once the calendar page flips from August 31st.

Such is life. Not a lot going on today - a couple of very quick errands and some purging/reorganizing of the toy room.

Hope all have an enjoyable day!

Well, I raked out from around the house then I moved some Hostas, Solomon Seal, and Mexican Petunias. It is supposed to rain later and all day tomorrow but I watered them in good just in case.
I accidentally chopped an azalea branch with roots so I stuck that in a pot.
I also burned yard waste until the wind picked up.
Next shower and good leftovers: Pork chop, roast butternut squash, baby potatoes and broccoli. Homemade bread! I love not having to cook after working!

Almost feeling normal now, after coming down with COVID-19, a week ago. Wednesday will run another test kit at day 8 to help confirm, am no longer contagious. Looking forward to next Saturday and in the mean time, will remain at home. But there is more ways viruses are attacking than just our bodies...

This morning after clicking on a Firefox browser news story disguised link, that was instead a malware porn link, my desktop suddenly displayed disgusting malware stating my system was infected, not to shut down, or power off etc. Malware can prevent simply closing such windows say with the top corner X or with the task manager. So NO, within 3 seconds, I did in fact initiate a SHUTDOWN, quickly powering off before whatever might load unknowns in the background, as I've set up with my desktop power up boot button to SHUTDOWN, that is not the default.

After re-booting up, ran McAfee antivirus scans, that were as expected negative, then opened Firefox that of course went to the disgusting page that I immediately changed to www.yahoo.com. Then went into the Firefox Settings page to Notifications and deleted 5 allowed exception web links that included a TMZ link that was likely the source. Then cleared all browser history and data, most of which is automatically done each time I exit the browser.

All well again. Within the last couple weeks, something similar happened and had done the same thing. Attacks by malware are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and recently the Microsoft Notification functions seem to be a favored entry. Others on the board would be wise to be ready in understanding how back out and cleanly recover from such attacks that will differ depending on browser used.

Afternoon folks....92 deg out there wowee.....feeling better but
