Opening morning, I'm in the lineup 15 mins before t-time, probably the longest line I'll wait in all year. I'm thankful and grateful to many people along the way that helped me to get here to enjoy what is still a paradise. Me and my wife worked very hard and sacrificed much to return, but it's still a privilege to be here. 4 1/2 months of sliding, clean air, quiet, mountains and hopefully powder days to look forward too.

Lady wearing what is colloquially known as a "fartbag",it's a one piece suit. This one particularly out there w the fringe and Native American feathers. Others are reflective silver and gold that shout "look at meeeeeeeee." Folks that wear those getups typically can't ski a lick.

Snowmaking on mid-river, currently closed.

Here's a look at 42nd Street where 2 runs and a cat track meet. Usually I'll ski the line to the skier's left of the yellow wrapped snow gun. We're going to need 10 really cold days for that to fill in w man made snow.

And the prize of the day - a free cup w hot chocolate.

Good day Peeps of SF.... on this horribly rainy Thursday.🌧️⛈️🌧️

It's coming up towards Noon... the rain hasn't stopped since I got up at 8am...

Had a small parcel delivery .. this morning, just AA batteries which I use for my motion sensor lights...

I posted Christmas cards out this morning.. the only few that I send by post... ... I;m fortunate that the Post box is just 50 yards away

I don't eat breakfast but for brunch today I just felt like some comfort food, so as well as my usual watermelon... I had hot Colcanon mashed potato to which I melted in some thin slices of Brie ..deeelicious !

Have the best day you can folks... hope you're feeling better all of you who were feeling poorly... 🌺🍂🍂🌺

Morning all,we had 2 more inches of snow last night,my early walk at 6:50 temp was 28 with no wind as I went around the building twice before breakfast
I really don;t have any plans except read today;sNYT,may go out for mid morning stroll
Tonight I'll be having weekly get together with the guys for dinner at 5:30, Sadly, Connie won;t be with us, she was taken back to the hospital on Sun,11/30. One of her new medications was giving her trouble, haven;t heard any update
Everybody have a good day

you always amaze me Sue.. regardless of how bad the weather is, you still ensure you get your morning exercise. I wish I had the same resolve!

Hope Connie gets better soon...send her our best please... tell her someone in England is wishing her well

Good morning everyone, it is cold here at 45 degrees. We do not get snow but cold is cold here.

@moviequeen1 so sorry to hear about your friend, Connie. I hope she gets well soon. She sounds like a nice friend for you. 🤗

I hope you all stay well and warm in the cold cold areas. Enjoy your day today, everyone.:)

AT&T tore up our neighborhood a few weeks ago laying fiber cable. This morning, they showed up again and are ripping up the other side of the street. Driveways blocked, street blocked (garbage truck couldn't get down the street this morning), dirt everywhere. Noise. Lots of yelling.

Spousal Equivalent was out there to make sure they didn't do anything to our new ($3700) waterpipe to our house. They assured him that they weren't going anywhere near it.....<sure>. He's keeping a close watch. I need to go out on some errands and I'm not sure I can back out of the driveway. Time will tell.

Good morning everyone! I'm getting a bit of a late start today. I've been catching up on emails and paying bills, and now it's time to get to work.

I spent nearly 2 hours yesterday using that RIT Back to Black dye kit I mentioned the other day, and my leggings don't look that much darker! Although they weren't too faded to begin with. I followed the instructions to the letter, and it was a bit of a hassle: gallons of hot water, constantly stirring the dye mixture for 45 minutes, then the color-fixative mixture for another 20. I think next time I'll just buy new leggings. 🤣Or stick with jeans.

Work has been slow, which is worrying. I was swamped over the summer and the fall. I hate the unpredictable nature of my work. (I think I mentioned I'm an independent contractor.) I'm sure it will pick up—it always has in the past. I've been freelancing for 30 years, and I have yet to get accustomed to the lack of predictability.

I need to run a few errands later, and try to get some time in on the treadmill given that an outdoor walk is out of the question in these temperatures.

I hope everyone has a great day!

The house is mostly organized and spic and span, but I've yet to attack the biggest bugaboo, i.e, my desk and office area. Too much stuff. Today probably won't be the day though. I'm about 2/3 through this year's (business) design project. Now comes the checking and rechecking phase to make sure every detail is correct. So that's #1 on the agenda.

Tomorrow, DH & I will do our annual thorough shelf-by-shelf cleaning of the hutches, china cabinets and all within. Shelf by shelf, we wash and dry everything and clean the cabinet itself. All will be beautifully sparkly for Christmas! Carpet cleaners come early Saturday morning.

To encourage her children to put our efforts into whatever we did, my mother often said people won't know how long something took you but will notice how well it's done. Not that I mistrust my mother's wisdom, but on the off chance she was wrong, DD & I have developed a tradition surrounding this several hour annual cleaning chore.

DD cleans her crystal, china and cabinets in the same way I do, but hers is done immediately before Thanksgiving because she hosts that holiday. Every TG, she leads me to her china cabinets and says, "See how sparkly???" I admire her work, lauding her with oohs, aahs and compliments. At the first pizza/cookie party, I lead her to mine and she covers me with praise.

That way we know for sure that someone outside the household notices and appreciates our work.

On this same subject, yesterday the wildlife trapper (see my raccoon saga thread) complimented the exterior of our home for being nicely landscaped and in good repair. He said he's learned that when a home's outside is well cared for, the inside will also be, and that the reverse was true. He said it held true for our house (neat and well-kept inside and out).

Many of the homes he goes to are likely in serious disrepair (thus the animal invasions), are hoarder's paradise or badly cluttered throughout.

Sneaky and I love it.

I’m trying to use the crystal more often - just for us. Why not. I’ve picked up some at thrift stores that are just the right size for daily use. I can’t image that I’ll ever use the brandy or liqueur glasses again. They do look pretty.
