Happy new year to you too @GoodEnuff 🥂

G'd afternoon Peeps of SF....☃️❄️
It's 5 deg here , at almost 1pm.. and feels much colder than yesterday when we had icy roads.. because there's no blue sky today.....

I slept late because I didn't got to bed until late plus I was a bit worn out by that hike yesterday up hill and down dale. I keep telling myself I'm not 50 any more, climbing up almost vertical steep hills on slippy mud and leaves doesn't do my knees any favours... 🥴

Anyway... here's to another year, hopfully this year will bring us all better health better wealth and better times

Morning all, Happy New Year. I went out for my early walk at 6:45 all bundled up,a bit cold temp 21, as I went around the building once As I type this, the sun is out with partly blue skies-YIPPEE
My plan this morning, write in my yearly journal: the top new stories, well known people who left us, friends I invited over here for either lunch or dinner, how many times I finished doing daily NYT crossword puzzle{ mostly Mon&Tues, once in awhile Weds}
I hope to take another walk either mid morning or afternoon, watch another college football game, Rose Bowl,Alabama vs Indiana. Yesterday I watched the Sun Bowl, ArizonaSt vs Duke, really good game went back & forth
Every body have a great day

Good morning and Happy 2026 from a very wet Southern California. It's pouring at the moment, but the rain is expected to abate soon and likely stop altogether a little bit after 8 AM, Pacific Time, which is when the Rose Parade is set to begin.

Over the years, the weather gods have proven to be exceptionally kind toward that parade. In 136 years, it's only rained ten times. Last time was 20 years ago. Pretty remarkable, given that January 1st is smack dab in the middle of our rainy season.

It'll be a lazy day for DH & me. Parade, maybe he'll watch the Rose Bowl football game, low-effort snacky foods, that kind of thing.

Hope all have a great day and a great year!

oh talk about co-incidence... I click on this and read you talking about Parades while I was listening to this song...

Good morning and Happy New Year to everyone. Temperature is warmer today at 66 degrees and it will warm up for the next 10 days.

The Rose Parade has just started. It is raining but they are celebrating.

We will be going out sometime this afternoon as some places are open today.

Hope you are all well and enjoying the day. :)

Happy New Years 2026, seniorforums folks !!!

Now 8:30am PST here now with the Rose Parade playing quietly on my tv. Didn't get to sleep till 3am last night despite enduring over an inch of often rather heavy rain while having fun at one of my best New Years Eve celebrations over the last couple decades. Nine rowdy punk/metal/jam bands in a packed small venue with lots of dancing from 4pm yesterday till midnight. Not feeling too bad after all that and just 4 hours sleep.

Back home did enjoy a large piece of the above posted Chocolate Brownie Cream Pie. Like those pies best, consumed straight from the freezer without any recommended thawing. Sort of enjoyable icy sensation like ice cream. We received another big present yesterday as the tropical storm stayed further west than forecast without pi$$ing at all on the Tahoe snow pack.

My season pass resort is however expecting 50 inches of snow through this Monday, with my intended first day of season visit now looking like this Tuesday. Monday, I have an oil/tire rotation change scheduled at a Chevy dealer. This storm has also put more precipitation across the whole state including desert areas, so it is now looking like we may have one of the best Sonora Desert, Mohave Desert, Colorado Desert wildflower blooms in my lifetime that is saying a lot from this landscape photographer that has been chasing those events for decades.

Pretty sure, come February despite the ski season, I will be visiting on long road trips, Death Valley and Joshua Tree National Parks, Anza Borrego State Park, Antelope Valley, and Carrizo Plain. So probably will be able to meet some of you Southern California folk, along the way.

I am so happy that we are raining instead of snowing. So far the snow has stayed in the mountains, which is perfect.

My DIL is making my favorite Polish meal for lunch and I will spend the afternoon with them. Until my oldest son married a Polish woman, I had not had my favorite meal since my grandma died. My daughter-in-law is an excellent cook and a wonderful person.

Then this evening my girlfriend is coming over to play games and spend the night. It’s going to be a perfect day.

I cleared the clutter off the dining table and got rid of a lot of grocery receipts I keep in a folder. Why I save them for so long, I don't know. From now on, once recorded on my budget sheet, I'll keep the supermarket receipts for only a month, in case something has to be returned. I did a lot of accounting this evening.... updating financial spreadsheets for me and my son.

Tonight, he showed me the basics of using the Studio One digital music program. Besides his tutoring, I can watch instructional videos posted on YouTube that are also accessible right in the program. I just finished signing up for Netflix again; my son offered to pay half because there are some things he wants to see. 🤑 It took longer than expected because I wound up having to change my password from the jump. Something crazy was happening with their system. Then I had to connect the app on my Roku to the account. I spent some time browsing and adding content to my watchlist. After I get off this computer, I'm going to have my dessert and preview some of what I saved.

Good afternoon Peeps of SF..on this cold but gloriously sunny 2nd day of the new year...

I am staying home because I have things to do... and the forecast is for heavy snow as from tonight...

I've just been talking to my Electricity & Gas supplier.. because they took a whole load more money out of my bank account than the agreed monthly direct debit amount

The ridiculous thing is that . they took it, even tho' my bill wasn't anywhere nearly as much as they took, in fact it was lower than the monthly direct debit.. so realising that..they returned it to my online credit amount that they hold.. ( are you still with me ?)...so..I had to go through all the rigmarole of calling them asking why they took so much.. and getting them to refund back to my bank account the money they'd saved into my Credit account with them

So to make it clearer.. I have a several hundred pounds in a credit account with them..its a back up so if my bills are more than the monthly direct debit they can take the excess from that online account...

Instead they took it directly from my bank, ..even tho' my bill wasn't higher than normal...and then refunded back to the online credit account with them. I was furious !

They excused it all away by saying it was because I'd changed my fixed rate at the beginning of December.. but that didn't hold water..

Anyway they're refunding the extra back to my bank account.. but annoyingly they say it can take up to 10 days...

I'm not in need of that money fortunately.. but that would and will be affecting people who cannot afford to have a big chunk taken out of their accounts... and perhaps even put people in the red.

Good morning, everyone. It is cold this morning at 44 degrees but will be 71 this afternoon.

I am doing some household chores as we are expecting some friends tomorrow.

@hollydolly that is such a mix up with the electric gas company. I hate when things like that happen. I hope things go well for you in this incident.

I hope all of you are doing well and enjoy the day. :)

Good morning, friends. A break in the storm for a while, but rain will return late this afternoon/evening. Whaddyagonna do? 🤷‍♀️

Last night I had a lacy night's sleep as @Georgiagranny would say. We're scheduled to have the 22 month old today. If that comes to fruition, I'll try to catch a nap when he does.

Speaking of @Georgiagranny, I'm quite concerned that we haven't seen hide nor hair of her for over a week. If anyone has personal contact information for her, please reach out and let us know how she's doing.

Been a lazy few days around here. Holiday decorations are still up and are starting to nag at me like an unmade bed. The little guy will be our focus if he comes. If not, I'll ask DH to bring out some boxes so we can start putting Christmas away.

Hope all can make today a good one!
