some thing terrible could go wrong..I'm deadly serious Trila... do not simmer the kidney beans until you've boiled them rapidly for 10-30 minutes to remove the toxins phytohaemagglutinin which causes severe vomiting .. this is Impertitive.... then you can safely put them into the Chilli, and simmer them...

However if you're not using dried kindey beans and using Canned instead , then you'll be fine (y)
😮😮😮😮
Luckily, I used canned! Thanks for the info!

@Trila, if your chilli is too thick you can add tomato juice or a can of tomato soup. I’m sure it’ll be yummy. The only reason I keep my crockpot is to cook chilli a couple of times a year.
I have a small crockpot that I hardly ever use. I like it, but most recipes are too big to fit.

I know I can cut recipes back, but in this case I had never made it before, so I had no idea how much I was making.

As it turns out, I have enough to share with my Mom, plus 3 more meals for Dio and me. It turned out very yummy!!!!!

Good afternoon peeps of SF.... 🙋‍♀️ ..on this really horribly wet torrential rainy day..🌧️🌧️🌧️ thank goodness I went out yesterday grocery shopping ... rather than leaving it until today

I had a problem with Amazon.. I placed an order using the usual payment.. and it rejected the payment , telling me to change it to another method... There was nothing wrong with my payment method, but still it insisted. I resisted, and then it told me to change my name.

I've used amazon regularly since it's inception.. I have always used the same Initals and surname, it kept telling me to change the initials to a name. Again I refused..so they cancelled my orders.

I contacted Customer service Bot.. and they had no answer as to why that happened, but they gave me £30 as a goodwill payment against the inconvenience.. ($40 USD)

It just shows not to accept anything out of the ordinary without questioning it...

Have the best Thursday you can folks... 🍂🍂

It's a slow day here,,,, Hubby watching collage wresting.
The new sweater I bought the dog ,, the yarn has came loose at the foot openings.

Dug out thread & needle,, got one caught up,,put a bit of glue over the threads.

I should try taking the garbage pail down & dump it in a pile of logs.
There is a good plowed path most of the way down.

Tomorrow morning we have to be at Sister in laws home for short service for her son.

Hope all is well with all the Senior Forum members.

It's 10pm....pitch dark and still raining hard... 🌧️ 🌧️ It feels very cold despite it raining...temps are at 7 deg c

Tonight for dinner I had fish pie, and watched an old episode from 1970 of the Likely Lads on TV...

I've just washed up and cleaned up the kitchen...

It's forecast to rain most of tomorrow, I hope it stops just for an hour or 2 , because I have an appt with the doctor in town..

Thursday was not a blast! Woke up at 2 pm!!! Checked phone, battery on 3% so plugged it in, made coffee, sat at computer to check news.

Phone rang. My son needed picked up from work. He had the day off. A coworker wanted him to work so co didn't have to. So I leave, with phone that has 6% battery. He's not at his work place. He calls to say he is at Waffle House, down the street a little.

We drive home. We are first at a red light about 5 miles away when the car makes a weird noise and stops being on. I can't even turn on my hazard lights because nothing works. A friend comes, and then goes. We wait for tow truck. It takes close to 2 hours to arrive. While we wait, cops come with lights on and from two different departments. They are all very nice. One of them decides to move my car mostly onto a sidewalk. He is really strong, and I told myself to quit rolling my eyes when I see cops that have huge muscles (like they are all muscle with a head perched on top).

My friend who came earlier came and got us, thank goodness. The tow truck man's teeth on top - 4 or 5 in a row in the middle -- were gold! I didn't comment, but I wanted to know how and why. He was a really nice fella, though. Everyone was. That's what I like most about the South. Rude or unfriendly people are scarce.

Car is towed to my usual shop. This is the first time in my life I've had a usual shop. I think this will be the 3rd time in a month.

We celebrated the end of our 2.5 hour ordeal by having Chick-fil-A for dinner.

G'morning Peeps of SF.... at 9.30am🙋‍♀️ raining hard again...🌧️🌧️🌧️ *sigh*...never known this much rain in the South....

I'm all showered and dressed and having a cuppa tea, and leaving shortly to go to town to see the Doctor... at the Surgery.. ( Office)

I'm meeting up with my friend when I come out, and we're going to have breakfast at the pub... fortunately the pub is just yards away from the Surgery...

Have the best Friday you can folks 🍂🍂

Dear Lord what a Faff, nothing is ever straightforward...

I saw the doctor, again a doctor never seen before, a locum.. and boy was she snappy.

I told her what I;d come for which is the arthritis in my hip ... but I also told her that I'd had a biopsy on the same leg that didn't seem to be healing.. ..she snapped'' I can only do one thing at a time''... her one thing.. was to ask me to bend sideways, and lift my leg up forward.. that was it... and she wrote out a script for strong painkillers , and sent a request to the hospital for an X ray... .. this took all of 5 minutes.. she then says '' you'll have to make another appointment for the nurse to look at your wound..
..and she knows this can take up to a month!

My friend and I went for breakfast at the pub afterwards ... absolutely pouring of rain .... but we had our breakfast, we did a litle shoppng, and I came home..

In the time driving home, I had a missed call from the hospital, so I ring them back, I wait 20 minutes for someone to asnwer and then they immediately hung up. 😖 Frustrated , I called back and wait 15 minutes before they answer again , the woman has a distinctive voice, she denies all knowledge of any call being made .. did I know what dept etc. I didn't.. so she put me through to Plastic Surgery which was the last dept I 'd been to.. and while talking to them, another call comes in and this time a message is left .

I listen to the message and it's the SAME woman I spoke to first who denied knowing anything about the call... 😩... giving me an Appt for the X-ray on my hip !

The NHS is truly broken

Good grief.... !!

Good morning, everyone. It is cold again at 33 degrees this morning and 63 this afternoon.

@hollydolly that sounds like an unpleasant doctor visit. I have one today and like you it is with someone I haven't seen before. She is just a physician's assistant and not a doctor. I have to see her until I can see my doctor for the next visit.

One problem at a time sounds like another doctor I saw and had to make another appointment for anything else. I guess doctor's want to make more money.

Other than doctor's appointment, the day will be alright.

Have a good day, everyone. :)

Morning all, yesterday afternoon we had another power outage starting at 2pm, it wasn't fixed until 1:30 this morning, frustrating. As usual, Spectrum{ local cable company} didn't; say where the outage happen but it was in the area where I live
I woke up this morning feeling tired, didn't sleep well. When I looked out window at 6:30 it was lightly snowing, temp was 14,won;t be going out today instead walking the hallway for exercise
The rest of my day read today's NYT, see what today's lunch/dinner menu is offering
Everybody have a good day

I had an incredibly bad day yesterday, both sad and crabby at the same time, along with problems with my Mom, etc, etc, etc. That's why I didn't come to The SF yesterday.

I know that I can vent here any time, but I felt that spreading that much negatively would only make my day worse. But today is a new day. Yesterday is behind me, and I'm here, now.

emoticon
I do need to make breakfast, but I'll be back later to see what everyone has been up to.

It's gotten so rare to get anything that resembles customer service/care these days I jump for joy when it happens.

As Hollydolly rightly says, 'the NHS is broken'. I injured my right knee a couple of weeks ago, and it's still stiff and creaky. I had thought to contact the GP (who now has a triage system because of staff shortages), but what do you get ? told by a nurse to rest it, apply ice and take pain killers. There is a fairly new physio clinic in town who recommended one hour appointment for a thorough examination of my knee, diagnosis, exercise or treatment plan as necessary. That will cost £75, but if things don't improve, it might be well worth it.

It might be worth it Capt... but it might also be an expensive mistake... Try it and see what you think,... I paid for physio on my knee for 3 months, never made the slightest difference... now I'm waiting for a knee replacement.... which I really wish I didn't have to have, but the pain now is becoming unbearable, and causing problems that could make me fall walking downstairs...
