How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2026....

@Pepper, I would never dare to say I've endured what you have lately. But you sound about as low as I've been feeling—as in, very close to giving up. Perhaps we can send each other some mental supportive vibes or good wishes.

Please hang in there. I'll be thinking of you today, and I'm sending a hug across the miles, from the icy Northern Plains.

Many of us are struggling. Maybe we need to mention it more often.

Yes, I agree.

Someone here has, or used to have, as part of their avatar/profile what I thought was a truly excellent quote from Robin Williams, something along the lines of "Be kind, because you never know what internal struggles a person has." I'm drawing a total blank on who the SF person is, and I don't know how to search it.

if they've pulled it you won't find it... but I have found that some people are really hypocrites... and those who bully, or those who are the most unkind will often have those platitudes as their signature strap... so I wouldn't place a great deal of store by it
if you want it as your signature, you can go ahead and have it..

@KSav

That would be me.
Thank you; you were the first person who came to mind, but I wasn't sure! 🥰

A few weeks ago, Sean Lennon, whom I follow on X because I find him very intelligent and insightful, shared a social media page of someone who was like that, with platitudes, claiming to be a compassionate anti-bullying advocate, and such.

This same person posted "Your mother's a whore" to Sean's account. Yeesh.

Off to deliver a load of books to a charity that sells books to raise money for educational use abroad. It's a bit of a journey, but its an excuse to get away from the house for a change.

We've just about got our late son's room cleared, and having been the biggest bedroom, we're dividing it into a bedroom and 'study' which Mrs.L has already claimed as her sewing room.

It's lunchtime now ( 12.45pm).. It's the painters' turn today..he's been here since 9am

I thought there was 2 of them because I could hear him talking all the time.. so when i took a quick glance he had his phone propped up and was having a full conversation continuously with someone on there...

I've had the Insurance reps from the company I bought all the new appliances from, pestering me to take out Extra Insurance with them,

I told them no I didn't want to pay £45 per month for insurance....why not ?..I was asked... because I have statutary rights by law.. and I also have my own insurance if the worst came to the worst..plus I simply can't afford that...every month! As soon as I said I can't afford it, he hung up...realised obviously there would be no talking me into it....

Well, as the world keeps getting weirder and weirder for me, I have decided to get off every prescription med I can before I die. 14 years of dealing with a system that keeps you dependent on them is drawing me. So, I have a new goal\s. 1. Stay involved in as much of the world I can take, and get out of the old Western medicine habit. :)
Good for you, ..but no need to tell you of course.. but I'll say it anyway , just take things carefully a bit at a time.. your body has become used to all sorts of meds so withdrawing them all could cause a big problem.. so just take it carefully

Good morning, everyone. Cold here today, only 52 as a high. It was 31 this morning.

@hollydolly in regards to your credit card not allowing you to purchase a higher priced item. Our credit card did the same for us when we wanted to purchase something more expensive. However, we talked to the credit card service at the store and we were told the same as you that it was unusual for us to pay that amount. They did okay it after the call.

Have a great day, everyone and stay well and warm. :)

It's chilly out this morning, but (happily) more than 10° warmer than what "they" predicted. The morning temperature is closer to what was expected as a high for the day. We'll see if it gets any warmer when the sun comes out, or if it just stays around where it is.

This morning (after breakfast) I'm going to use my steam inhaler thingy, again. Then I'm going to get a "Chicken and Veggie Casserole" ready for the oven.

I'm hoping that I feel well enough to do a full workout this afternoon.

G'afternon Rae... 🙋‍♀️ yes the fraud people at my CC provider lifted the block, but it was too late, I'd already had to pay for the appliances with another card... which annoyed the F outta of me, because I'd kept that Initial card for just these items.. and had just last month spent £400 on it for furniture, so they shouldn't have been surprised... ..all they had to do was give me a quick call instead of just instantly blocking the card!

Sounds like you've gotten used to dealing with workers, deliveries, etc. I am facing a lot of that.
Do they actually sell "big girl pants"? I need some right about now.

Sweetie don't you be trying to run before you can crawl. It's taken me 4 years to get to this point in my life... you'll do better than me eventually , I know you will ((Hugs))

It was yesterday, got the daughter and her boyfriend, now fiancé♥️, to lift at the 9am opening. The sun was shining, not cold and skiing was very good. I know where to go avoid people and take advantage of the wide variety of aspects and elevation to find the best available snow conditions. We later met up w my wife and made some laps w her exploring around to see if there were any unexpected runs w great conditions and few skiers around. Soon the place was full of skiers on the holiday weekend, the level of skiing goes down and risk very much elevates.

We beat it on out of there around 11:30, lunched at home, and then they left for Boise w their lab. We no longer feel the great sadness of our daughter being lonely and alone. It's quite a relief after where she's come from during covid days, which was in Boston teaching remotely.

Today I'll be off the lifts shortly, and then I got a for jury duty notice to deal w later. uggg. Our weeks long high pressure is extending through the work week so more warm and sunny.

Good morning, another bitterly cold day here, with the high not getting above 0. 🥶

I saw a news report last night of someone who was pulled over in whiteout, zero-visibility conditions doing 104 mph (167 km/h)—!!!—with a child in the car, no less! on a local interstate. The interstate was actually closed at the time; it must have been shut down after this person got on the highway.

I screenshotted it to my daughters, saying "THIS is why I still worry about you—because of people like this!!"

My older daughter, who is a drug and alcohol counselor, asked if the person was under the influence, which would make perfect sense, but apparently they were not because the article said they only received a $140 ticket (about 120 Euros).

Time for me to get to work! I hope everyone is having a good day.

Managed to deliver a load of books to the charity hub which was in the 'backside of nowhere' in rural Aberdeenshire. At least they were happy to take the books and gave us coffee and biscuits. That's the first load of books away, but I still need to find the courage to see what might be in the loft.
