How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2026....

The carpet guy who said he would get the install done in one day now will be back tomorrow; didn't finish but I am not surprised. Nothing in this house has been easy.
I understand your frustration..... I had 2 that didn't come back during the build when they said they would. No explanation, and no apologies

Hopefully he'll get back early and get it finished for you today

I'm trying to plan a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Australia and New Zealand for later this year (September or October). My poor old back will need a 'lay-flat' type of seat for such a long flight, and I am stunned at the prices! The tour prices are reasonable for the number of days and internal flights around Australia and New Zealand, but with the flight expenses from the US and back the cost is essentially doubled, and then trip insurance costs a whole lot more because the trip costs so much. I don't understand how anyone can ever afford to go anywhere over the Pacific Ocean. I hate spending money! I'm conflicted!

And with all the parts of my body that randomly go bad (back, hip, knee, foot), the whole enterprise seems risky. But I don't want to put it off because I'm getting older so fast I'm afraid it will be impossible in a few years.

But other than that self-inflicted stress, the day has been great, the weather was 51 degrees, after Pastel art class (where I managed to draw some decent looking oranges - except I didn't notice the orange in the back of the pile and in consequence the top orange in my drawing is defying the laws of physics) I walked to the grocery store (very crowded due to the snow forecast this coming weekend), and then finished up my day by taking a pile of flattened boxes to the recycling container downstairs.
that's my dream ..particularly New Zealand...as far back as I can remember I've wanted to visit.... but now , even tho' I'm a relatively fit senior lady...I don't know that I could cope with 24 hours in the air, and 2 or 3 changes in flights... not to mention the expense....

G'afternoon peeps of SF... 🙋‍♀️

Another grey drizzly wet day here....Joy of winter...

I am in the pricess of moving losts of stuff in and out of the new build.... I'm shocked at how tiring it all is, not to mention of course that I still have not got full use of my injured hand... and my ribs still haven't healed full so it's difficult to lift items which might not felt as heavy to me just even a year ago... however there's no rush, I keep telling myself that.. and I have the weekend where I can just take my time(y)

Have the best Friday you can folks... 🌺

Morning all, went outside at 6:50 for brief morning walk, temps was 19 with slight breeze. I didn't; go far due to last night's blowing snow, walked to the back driveway which was passable and walked back
My plans today, weekly exercise class 10-10:45, read today's NYT, my book
A resident I haven;t seen in a few days asked me couple days ago if I was free to join her for dinner tonight at 5:30, other residents will be Bob& Chuck who rarely comes to dinner I said yes, look forward to it
Everybody have a good day,

Good morning, everyone. It will be 79 degrees today and it is sunny now at 59 degrees.

I had a delivery from Walmart that was a little later than usual but it was everything I ordered. The man who delivered started using sign language and I didn't understand but he said okay, like I understood. Anyway, he finished bringing the items up to the stairs at the top so I couldn't open the door. I grabbed some to get the door opened. Now, it is all inside.

I hope all of you are ready for the big snow storm if it is coming your way. Best wishes to all.

Have a good day, everyone. :)

☕ I slept in this morning, haven't done anything yet except sip on my coffee.

It's clear, dry and around 26°F/-3.8°C out right now. Our sNOw prediction is now up to 10-18 inches. I expect to not leaving the house for at least 2 weeks, maybe three. That is the downside of living rural. 😕

Since the sNOw won't start until later tonight, we will probably go to the gym today.....last chance to get out of the house for a while! LOL

Taking it easy today, cold, gray, and windy which usually makes for an unsatisfying ski after 2 weeks of blue skies. Breaking off cold this weekend near 0°F, but full sun both days.

View right now:

I will be skiing Sunday at a local place, Soldier Mtn, on a small tracked vehicle, w a capacity of 3 skiers, into the side/back country above and around the ski area. Skiing w me is my daughter and her friend and a guide. There is also a driver to meet us at the bottom of every lap and return us to the top. Hopefully they'll be plenty of untracked snow and sunshine.

The last time I went to Europe the travel to get there and home was so physically punishing that I have little interest in flying any further than North America and the Caribbean.

Between the jet lag, time change adjustments, airport and airplane time, it was an extremely unpleasant endurance test.

I'd only consider going to Europe or NZ again, or traveling to AU or Asia, if I could take a trans-ocean cruise ship there and back. Having done a 14 night transatlantic from Spain to Galveston, I know it's an extremely relaxing way to travel! Heaven...

You need to get a good night's sleep prior to a flight to Australia. Dress super comfy. Nap a lot. Drink lots of water. Get up and walk/stand around at regular intervals.

Oops! Sorry, went off-topic.

Not a fan of changing time zones, IF we travel, I'm planning on a North/South trip axis( 2 hours or less of time changes) to reduce or eliminate jet lag.

DH & I usually make at least one annual pilgrimage to my ancestral homeland. (NY area.)

That 5 hour flight and 3 hour time difference hit the upper limits of my tolerance. Unpleasant but manageable. Helps that we stay in hotels rather than people's homes so we can arrange our time.

Flying to Hawaii is the same drill: 5 hour flight, 3 hour time difference.

Immediately this morning, will leave to a nearby KP hospital for a 3 month blood test for my polycythemia vera condition. Also a re-reading a book on memory I recently noted on a forum thread. Just Amazon ordered for $27, a portable 15.2 ounce 15 watt USB solar cell panel for remotely charging items like my phone plus 16 each rechargeable 1100ma AAA NiMH batteries. Otherwise, have numbers of GoPro skiing videos taken earlier this week to view then Adobe Premiere process with a couple maybe uploaded to my YouTube channel.

I do envy you a little bit David..not your injury of course.. but here I sit , in this box in the English dull winter weather, and you are having a whale of a time on the ski slopes... I wish it were me.. but sadly I never was able to afford to learn to ski... and I'm too old now... :D

Yeah, skiing is an uncommon past time, only those living within driving distance of higher winter snowy mountains, with lifestyle time flexibility, and at least modest middle class wealth, had any chance of developing over the last few decades. It is something I could argue, is one of the few human activities that is so utterly amazing that other extraterrestrial bilateral bipedal elite intelligent entities in our vast universe are probably enjoying similarly elsewhere. In the distant human world future, given technology and world wide transportation, it will undoubtedly be discovered as a top worthwhile fun human physical activity by far larger numbers of people than today.

Greetings from the so to be "ICE AGE" of the eastern states.

So far we have had sunshine,, blowing snow,, then fine flakes .

Caught a mouse last night in one of the traps.
There is a grey kitten that comes to the back porch to be fed.

Toss out the very dead mouse.
Cat had a great time playing with it,,, think later it became the cat's lunch.

Am waiting to see if the snow & cold is as bad as forecast.

Stay warm,,play games or read a great book as the snow & wind blow.
Hope storm does NO Damage. ...🙏🙏🙏
