Of course, our area is hosting the NFL Superbowl game next 3:30pm PST Sunday, drawing audiences and media people and attention from across the world with a list of events from here in the San Jose area up through San Francisco, 55 miles to our north. One of the venues is at the below, I may attend this evening with a free to attend live Hispanic jazz band playing with more live music events on Friday and Saturday. They have two indoor live music stages and one outdoor stage for afternoon events. I like dancing at the outdoor stage because there is a lot of open space room with people of all ages A to Z about to cross-pollinate my art with.

Sounds fab...I wish we had something similar here

Some of my favorite foods.

Left: Salsa with Quinoa and a glass of Pomegranate juice. Right: Raw veggies (here Cauliflower) dipped in Hummus.

Sardines from Morocco, sweets from Canada (often from Belgium,) avocados from Mexico, other sardines from Thailand,
Pumpernickel bread and gluten free crackers from Germany, and butter from Ireland. It seems half of our food is imported.

Left:
For lunch, my wife prepared cod with potato salad. Right: a variety of nuts are super healthy (especially Walnuts)
but they have plenty of calories (snack with caution, LOL)

Cold and miserable here - rain, sleet, snow and just 4 Deg C.
I'm waiting for a case of wine to be delivered. I waited for it yesterday and according to the tracking, it got to within 3 miles of home before the driver returned to the depot without making any more stops. This is the third time that 'Yodel', the couriers, have done this. It's not only from the wine suppliers. One day we waited three days for a small parcel before the courier arrived - with a large box for a totally different address.
On another occasion, they said that they could not access my property and sent a photo to prove it. They had taken a farm track which ended up in a field - 10 miles from my address!

Waiting on a plumber I sure hope he shows. I expect he will. I could have got the job done for less but that company takes so long to communicate.
I have learned lately that every time you think you've caught up on dealing with things like insurance, finances, etc., three to five more things crop up! Ah well, this will be my life for a while until I settle in to it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Morning all, since I didn't go outside at all yesterday, decided to go this morning at usual time 6:50,temp was 12. There was no breeze as I went around the building before breakfast. As I getting my breakfast notice it was getting lighter outside, nice to watch the sun rise
No real plans today read today's NYT, see what today's lunch/dinner menu is offering
I may go outside mid morning, take advantage of sun being out even though its a cold day
Everybody have a good day

The only plan for sure today is that I'm going to make a pot of chili......first time ever!!!!

Yep! I've NEVER made chili before! It seems simple enough. The thing is finding a recipe that you like, since there is such a big variety to choose from.

I do not like hot or spicy foods, so chili can be tricky. This recipe is mild.

It also has sugar in it. I bought pasta sauce instead of tomato sauce, by accident. Since pasta sauce is sweeter than tomato sauce, I will either leave out the sugar or at least cut back on it.

Regardless, I'm sure it will be fine. Cook the meat, throw everything else in, simmer. What could go wrong?!!! 1770211319215.gif

some thing terrible could go wrong..I'm deadly serious Trila... do not simmer the kidney beans until you've boiled them rapidly for 10-30 minutes to remove the toxins phytohaemagglutinin which causes severe vomiting .. this is Impertitive.... then you can safely put them into the Chilli, and simmer them...

However if you're not using dried kindey beans and using Canned instead , then you'll be fine (y)

It's just past 3.45pm and the sun is shining....🌞🌞

I got to the hospital 30 minutes before my appointment, it was packed with people... which is the reason I went early in case I had to wait for a parking space. I was lucky there was one space when I got there..so I got in early...and I thought they'll make me wait now because there's so many people in front of me, but they didn't...for once I was taken in within 5 minutes...which was good news...as I came out and back into the waiting room people were giving me the stink eye..lol

I;d worn a chunky polo neck, to go out in with jeans.. but I didn't realise how hot it was going to feel... even tho' it's only 48 deg f...

I had to drive into North London to do some stuff, then also to get a ton of groceries.. I wanted enough to last me a long time... so I went to Tesco and to marks& Spencers..

There is no garage here with Air pumps for tyres, so I have to drive 2 towns away among very busy traffic .. to get a garage that has air pumps .. so I did that on the way back.. good thing I did , the tyre were down quite a lot..

I was so hot... really hot I felt a bit dizzy with it.. I turned the AC on in the car 🥵

When I got home, I couldn't wait to get the jumper off..... and get a thinner top on...

I've spent most of the winter not turning the heat on in the house for more than an hour a day..... and I think my body has acclimatised...

I soak my beans for at least 24 hrs then pressure cook them.

I am feeling uneasy about posting so many pictures, but I just came back from my gorgeous morning hike, and I am feeling
so good and happy about everything. I wish these pictures could also "turn you on."

Can you see the pale moon on top of Rex' head?

The Santa Ana Winds were blowing hard and swept the sky free of smog. On a day like this, you can see forever.
My inexpensive pocket camera just doesn't do justice to what I can see.

I am missing my pack of four Boxers that I used to have for years and years, but I am getting old and it's too much work.
Heidi is also ageing and is slowing down. How much longer can I take her with me hiking? I am feeling secure hiking with dogs.

an update from my morning post
I did take an afternoon stroll its been a beautiful sunny day, temp in 20's,not much of a breeze
I walked to the signal light, crossed the street and headed down to the end of it where the local co op is located It usually takes me 20 min to /from to get there, walking on the sidewalks, had to go around some garbage totes, felt like I was on an obstacle course. On my way back I walked in the street near the curb which was easier than on the sidewalks. When I got back, looked at my watch it took me a bit longer 30 min

The day started well.

Went to the hill, got to the top, as I was buckling my boots noticed a 3" cut in the boot cuff. That's a catastrophic failure w boots that only have 80 days on them. I purchase my boots at the base store so I zipped down there (the snow was great btw) and the tech said "nothing I can do with that." So it's up the chain of command to the Fisher rep who will hopefully approve a warranty replacement.

It's a bad time in the ski season if you need a specific thing, stores have long sold out and the warehouses are empty so it looks like I'll be skiing some of my older boots for a while and perhaps through the rest of this season. My legs did need a day off and they didn't completely fail on the way down sending me into the trees at 50mph so I guess I got off easy. And by hook or by crook I'll be in new boots next season!

Picked up the motorcycle from the shop and returned it to storage w the help of my wife. We saw close to 200 swans in their hangout today. 51°F on the way home,,,,,,,,WTF it's February 4th!!!

Pepper let me know she was alive at least!

@packleader folks can scroll on by or use the ignore button so you're all good w the pics.
