How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2026....

Well, I achieved a lot today. I set the day aside to get all finances in order. Do you believe I've been at it since about 8:00?
That's ok because now I feel I can go about the day without that weighing on me. It's taken a while to gather everything, cancel and close things, and organize bills on a spreadsheet. Just all-around organized finances.
😌

My tongue is slowly getting better, applesauce and runny-mush ("grits") are no problem now, and I nibbled a few inches of soft ripened banana.

Oatmeal is still too difficult, so I didn't even attempt making egg salad. I'm getting so tired of Greek yogurt already. But I'm proud of myself for throwing away unopened a pint of Haagen Dazs ice cream (but have kept the individual size ones I bought). Don't know how to eat any vegetables other than pureed baby food but 'pears and peas' was yucky, 'apples and broccolli' was barely better, no wonder babies spit this stuff out.

I woke up several times last night with bad leg cramps, so I had some Cream of Chicken soup today and added a bunch of salt.

I'm used to eating being fun so this liquidy soft food experience is challenging, though I think the real problem is I'm constantly low-grade-nauseous, not sure why, maybe the tongue is weeping drainage fluid. Bizarre to not even want to eat ice cream.

Yesterday's protest was disappointing because I was with a disability-friendly outing and so we were bused to an alternate protest site (not the main downtown mall) and walked a couple blocks, stood and listened to speeches, then walked back and were bused home. OTOH, I was still in the 'no exercise' post-procedure time period, so it was conveniently appropriate.

I understand that pickle juice is good for leg cramps. I think it replaces some electrolytes

Oh I believe it... that's so easy to do.... I just asked Alexa what time it is in NC.. it's 1.50pm...... it's almost 7pm here....

Thankfully you've got that weight off your shoulders...

I've been the same many times here for hours working on finances or similar...

Today is another one of those days delaing with Estate agents, and property searches... the day has just flown by. I just realised I hadn't eaten all day so a few minutes ago I popped a Chicken & Asparagus pie into the oven.

I was reading a 65 year old who had downsized from his house to an apartment, and he was saying that despite him being realtively fit for his age, it took a big toll on him which he wasn't expecting both physically an emotionally...

He recommended that anyone of our age who is doing it all alone whose thinking of moving, should set aside 3 months to sort decades of STUFF.. ... so I'm going to remember that because I have a ton of stuff !...but I'm really going to spend this year actively tryinng to find a place suitable for everything I need befre my knees get much worse and stop me from climbing the stairs completely

I've looked at a few apartments now.. new builds.. beautiful inside, but I can't believe that so far not one of them has parking... cn you even believe that ?.. Either you have to park on the street and pay for a Parking permit for the local authority.. ( expensive).. or park at the public car parks nearby.. at a cost

Ridiculous.. building apartments with no car parking spaces... !:cautious:

I'm home, had a good day in town.

I got the insoles for my shoes, I'll cut them to size later.

I also got a new wrist guard to replace the junky one that I wear on my right wrist while skating. I like this new one and I'm thinking about replacing the one for my left wrist, too. That is a really good brace, that I got from the Orthopedic Surgeon that I had over 20 years ago. It still works and feels OK, but it's starting to shred.

Also, I got a new nail file!!!!!! YEA!!!!! All of my files are over 40 years old. I've been wanting to look for a new one, but I keep on forgetting to put it on my list. I'll try this one for a while. If it passes my criteria (I'm super fussy about my files), I'll get a few more.

Do you use metal files?

I hope you can find a place. Seems you got discouraged last time you looked.

yes absolutely HR.... the difficulty for me is 3 fold... 1....this country has a great shortage of affordable housing... and even less affordable housing for older people in areas where older people would prefer to live...ergo..near public transport.. hospitals shops etc..
2.. secondly having looked at new build apartments.. some are very badly built..looks beautiful from outside but have gone up in a hurry and in a very short period of time are suffering a myriad of problems.....
3. I have discovered so many places now don't have parking.... and you have to park on the road, at a big annual expense of a permit. Which aorently doesn't even gaurantee you a space... it just means you're allowed to park there during certain hours IF there's a space...

40 year old Nail files ?...wow !.... I go through nail files like there's no tomorrow..lol

Make it easier on yourself. Don't look at anything that doesn't include parking.
yes but that's proving very difficult, because now parking has become a premium which means the cost of the apartment is sky high....

The trouble also is that agents lie.. No chit sherlock.😖. but blatent lies...

The last 2 said they had parking..in fact one of them specified there was 3 spaces... yes but they failed to mention they were on the road outside... where you had to buy a permit where 50 other people were vying to use them...

Completed most post processing from my recent 3 wildflower road trips. That gives me time now to start more planning for a potential 9-day backpacking trip mid to late July that still requires obtaining a wilderness permit on recreation dot gov. Thursday eventing may drive up to San Francisco to a 500 person venue for a touring Los Angeles rock band. Street parking for free in San Francisco is difficult, requiring avoiding areas with parking meters and residential parking permit zones. Of course, they want people to you expensive parking garages and lots. Thus worked on where I might do so legally.
