Relaxing day.. a little light housework, a trip to the grocery store…

Now outside sitting in the shade of my tulip poplar, enjoying the breeze and the birdsong, restorative cuppa tea in hand and a good book at my side

Pardon me if I’m repeating myself, I’m just so grateful for the lovely quiet neighborhood in which I live.
 
Oh, the joys of home ownership.......

Last night, I detected a somewhat-unpleasant odor in the kitchen. Thought it was the trash, so it was taken out. This morning, it was worse. It turns out that the garbage disposal is leaking. Luckily, it mostly emptied into a large flat container I keep under the sink. Unfortunately, that container had a tiny hole in it, so a little of the "slush" leaked out into the under-sink cabinet. Also, unfortunately, everything that was in the big container was sitting in the odiferous "slush", so I had to throw everything out that wasn't washable (sponges, gloves, etc.) and sanitize the cabinet.

So, there will be a trip to Lowes today for a new garbage disposal (we have no idea how old this one is and it's probably not repairable anyway) and a call to a plumber to install it.

Luckily, we can use the other side of the sink as it drains separately.

Didn't need this expense just after getting home from vacation.

Oh, well, life marches on.
