How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

I'm having a 'best laid plans go awry' type of day.

The Greek Isles tour didn't get enough people from my city, and so they offered a $300 discount + free excursion in Athens if people here wanted to catch a very early bus and travel 6 hrs to join their group flying out from a different city. After a day of dithering, today I told them 'no', so my cruise trip was cancelled and I got my deposit back.

Since I want to go and already paid for trip insurance, I spent virtually the whole day booking the cruise myself, first accepting the cruise line super cheap flight package, then having qualms and submitting a custom request, then had more qualms and cancelled that and found and booked flights with comfortable departure/arrival/duration times, and then needed to read various internet sites about how to go from the airport to the cruise ship port in Athens, where to store luggage if touring in Athens, etc.

I'm exhausted from the anxiety and the dollar total comes out the same as the original tour price, so that would have been a good bargain (if they'd gotten enough local people).

It is 1:45 a.m. I'll probably be up for several more hours, maybe all day. Since I did next to nothing yesterday, I'd better get shaking today and get some things done. I have to put away the laundry, clean the bathroom, dust in the living room and Swiffer the floors. I also need to get back to exercising. Will I get all of that done? Remains to be seen. 🫠

Your friend, Annie, seems to have been an exceptional person @horseless carriage
Some people live their life "large", and truly make an impression.
Celebrate her life, as she would want.

🤗
Thank you so much Pinky. Indeed we shall celebrate as the lady would have loved. Hopefully I will get a few photos. It's going to be a whirlwind of a day, so I am enjoying my coffee before heading to the shower.

I used my "bad ones" to store bulky blankets. It keeps the dust out.
Good idea.... I keep all my bedding free from dust in the storage area in my Ottoman beds

We had quite a bit of snow last night-maybe 3-4 inches but quite a bit for April- and it is all melting now.
As our country roads dry, they turn white and it looks like snow but it is just the road dust .

I got a new vacuum cleaner and it was easy to put together, but now I feel forced to USE it!

Dont know what's for dinner yet-something will have to be thawed !

Usually, I am sleeping solidly for 9 - 10 hours but not last night. I was up several times and even watch TV for a while. So, why?

Usually, I am walking with my 3 pups one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. But yesterday the weather was cold, windy, rainy, and just awful. I walked a little bit around our garden to quickly get inside the house in case the rain starts again. And inside the house, I used the treadmill for a while. But obviously, all that was no substitute for my usual walking. My body apparently told me to keep walking no matter what the weather conditions are. I used to do it. But as I get older, I am getting more comfy and don't enjoy longer walking in miserable weather.

My grandson was camping on his fifth birthday. So, tomorrow will be his big birthday party at Jump 'n Jammin Children's Entertainment Center with many of his “transitional kindergarten” classmates. Grandparents are invited as well, but I doubt whether I will participate in the jumping and jamming. I probably will be satisfied in just watching as the kids are screaming for fun.

I always add healthy cocoa to my breakfast porridge. But the price for Hershey's 23 oz cocoa package at Sam's Club has shot up from $7 to $9 and is expected to rise even more because of climate problems in West Africa.

Income tax returns are due in ten days. We are using “turbotax” where you just plug in the numbers and the program does the rest. I did my part and am waiting for my wife for doing her part. Well, I will bug her only if she hasn't done it by next weekend. All my life, I never failed to file the paperwork on time.

Looking out of the window, I see the first morning light with no clouds in the sky. But it's only 40 degrees, and I won't go for our walk till it has warmed up to 50 degrees. I used to go walking in the thirties with the pups wrapped in dog blankets, but I am getting old and lazy.

And when the sun starts shining into our room, then the pups are getting restless and I'll let them out in the garden to do their business.

Unsettled sleep last night but on first waking there was no sense of anything difficult besides just feeling tired. I'm taking it at face value rather than analyzing it. I have the luxury of parts of the day today where I can nap. I'll just slot the 💤 into my schedule wherever they fit.

I spent a good part of the morning troubleshooting technical issues. In the middle of the night, my computer showed the Oh Snap, something is wrong with that webpage message. I was tired so I just shut it down using the power button, since the screen also went black. When I turned it back on this morning, my browsers (Brave and Microsoft Edge) kept closing. I restarted the computer and that fixed the issue.

I look forward to watching World News Tonight. I especially wanted to see their coverage for the N.J. earthquake yesterday. When I went to stream that on Hulu, it showed an episode of GMA3 instead. I was on a chat with Shaun, a Hulu agent, for an hour and a half, starting at 8:33 a.m. We tried troubleshooting every which way and nothing solved the problem. He consulted with higher ups a couple of times. Ultimately it was left that the Tech team are handling it and the problem should be resolved within 24 hours. I gave Shaun the highest rating for his efforts.

While waiting in between chats, I noticed that music is not coming out of my (external) right speaker. I went into settings which showed that the balance is fine. I checked the wires going to that speaker and they seem fine. My son will have to check it out but he has a long, busy day of events and I will not ask him to check it when he finally gets in.

I'm home and positively exhausted. It wasn't that it was busier than any other morning. Maybe it's just me? I've always said we get paid the same whether we work fast or slow; therefore, work slow :ROFLMAO:. I don't usually have that luxury but did today anyway and still finished. Even cleaned the oven, which is something I do every Saturday morning. Sir "invited" me to go to his house and clean his oven, too. Nah. I get paid to clean the oven at work;)

DD has rented a carpet cleaner and is doing her upstairs; when she's finished, I'm gonna give mine a lick and a promise. That is, just clean around stuff instead of moving furniture. I mean...who's gonna look under and behind the furniture? And how dirty could it be anyway? The Hovel is so small that the furniture is in the same place it's always been so not like there's anything spilled or stained there, yanno?

She rented the carpet cleaner from Lowe's, and while she was there "just happened" to wander over to the garden center. There were all kinds of bedding plants 5/$5. She offered to take me over there before starting on the carpets, but I was too tired to go. Maybe if she finishes earlier than expected?

Imagine me being too tired to go to the garden center!

@hawkdon I hope you save some biscuits and gravy for me. I'm hungry.

Well that's sure handy, isn't it?
well of course, that's why I bought them, for the storage, and they hold a LOT.. however that said..tomorrow I'm having the spare room emptied.

I've got people coming to dismantle the Ottoman bed that's in there and take it away... and dispose of it... along with a few other things.. so I can have an empty room except for the built in wardrobes.. and the desk ... The ottoman beds are extremely heavy so it needs 2 people to move them

That will leave only the Ottoman bed in my room...which has all the bedding and pillows... and lots of other things. I used to use it to store all my shoes and bags as well until I got a specific cupboard for those. Now it stores everything you would usually store in cupboards as well as the bedding. Books, Pictures, you name it...

Spent an hour or so emptying the spare room to make space for 2 guys to get in there tomorrow and dismantle the bed to take it away.. and dispose of it, or do what they want with it.. and also some other furniture pieces.

So, I've had to move a lot of stuff into another room just to give them enough room to dismantle the bed and get it downstairs.. and then I'll move it back tomorrow... It's going to be very strange looking at a half empty room...
