How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

A varied day, considering the weather has been cool & now has reverted to intermittent drizzles. I've been cutting unplanted shrubs that have cropped up in various undesirable places, and—grrr!—weeding out an aggressive, invasive plant called pepper grass whose presence has exploded around here in the last two years. What I really wanted to get to, and which I did eventually, was planting the first block of corn.

Given the unusually coldish soil temps during the most of our spring, an encouraging signal has come in the long awaited appearance of first potato shoots/leaves above ground!😄

And also, I haven't been sidetracked recently by the need to fix an ailing piece of machinery. I'm grateful.

I'm tired! I worked around here all day after doing several errands in town.
I walked 45 minutes this evening on the treadmill. It's just too hot to walk outside. By the time its cool enough I'm outta gas.
Then I laid on the floor and put my legs up against the wall and watched videos.
I hope it helps. My vericose vein was hurting a little when I walked. I hoped it was the blood trying to get unstuck. 🤔
I'm going to stick with that and see if it helps. It actually looks better.

For ages I’ve been donating any mason jars I had. Of course, now that I want some I rarely come across one. There‘ve been suggestions to store fresh washed fruit in mason jars. I bought some plastic lids and will be going to Goodwill to buy some jars. All my other leftovers are stored in Corning ware or similar.
Definitely. I started putting my ripe, unwashed strawberries in mason jars and they last a week or more.
I cube blocks of cheese and store them in jars along with nuts and all kinds of things.

We went to a garden center in Eire today.

Had hopes of finding a 'snowball bush'.
Does anyone know the shrub I'm taking about?
Probably has a Latin name?

We were pleased to find early strawberries , dark cherries, asparagus & peaches.
I wandered past all the flower hunting for a snowball bush.
Did find one small bush of another plant I was looking for.

Will plant it where I hope the lawn mower won't chop it off.

We looked at azaleas,, everyone on our street has them,, so I passed on them.
Same with roses, lovely to look at,, but no thanks.

On drive to & from in & out of rain.

IF the rain holds off this evening I'll be out planting.
My MIL had a snowball bush. It was pretty!

Do you know what I've done today ?.. sweet Fatty Adams .. simply because I've have been doing so much in the last few weeks, that finally today I've got a break from all the pressurised legal stuff, and PDF's and documents, and scanning and printing dozens and dozens of documents .. in fact I have 3 days off of it before my lawyers will get back to me with some more info... I feel like a bird freed from a cage for a day or 2...

Also it's rained solidly all day.. so thankfully I got all the gardening done this week...and I could just let the day be filled with nothing at all....so I sat and watched a little TV... I fitted a new Ring Doorbell... I made steak pie and Mash for dinner.. ... and after I cleared up..I have been looking online at old pals to see what they're doing now...quite fascinating to see people from my teens and how the look now in their late 60's and all their offspring who are middle aged themselves who I last saw as babies in their cribs..

Glad you had a free day. Sounds like it was a winner!

Today was a very tiring day. Did a lot of bending, twisting and lifting. Today is the 3rd day in a row that I did laundry using my mini washer & spinner, which is a process. This afternoon my son and I worked together to dig out and get my mother's old AC unit installed in the bedroom. It replaces the Emerson Quiet Kool, which I've had for at least 50 years. The AC still worked but the filters are no longer available and its filter was shot. It was quite fortuitous of me to hold on to my mother’s unit, which had been sitting for 23 years.

Getting that installed involved moving several boxes and bags out of the storage closet, sweeping out the AC sleeve (which my son did) and washing down "new" AC, which was dirtier than expected even though it was covered by an industrial garbage bag. I also had to sweep and mop an area below the AC sleeve because some of the dirt from the old AC got on it, plus water spilled out when my son picked it up. I was too tired to finish sweeping up in the closet. Tomorrow is another day.

Upon pulling out the “new” AC’s front cover, which I had stored under the AC in the living room, I discovered a decomposed mouse! It was hardly recognizable as a creature except for its tail. 😲 No wonder Deja has been trying to get back there! It grosses me out to think she probably had touched it at some point then jumped up on me for cuddles! Sometimes she puts her paw on my face. I showed my son and we both agreed that we’ll take care of it tomorrow. He had a Zoom meeting and I was about to eat. Not something you want to deal with after a meal. 🤮
Though in reality, I know he'll take care of it, maybe the clean up too.

Luckily I hold on to things and had two empty heavy duty jugs that I used to block one of Deja's access points. I used boxes to block another Crazy thing is I never smelled the thing! A couple of times in the past, dead mice were in here and the smell was evident immediately upon walking into the house, even though neither were in the front rooms. All things considered, today was a productive day. :)

Yesterday marked 64 years since high school graduation. Sixty four. Huh?

Today is DD's 60th birthday. Sixty years between the day she was born and today. Huh?

I don't wanna think about this.
I'm stunned at how fast time goes.. I cannot believe it lately.

yesterday I saw a photo in my online albums, it was of a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates, gifted to me a couple of years ago from a business...It was like I was given them yesterday.. I remember them so clearly.... only to discover it was ELEVEN years ago... I was soo upset , I know it sounds ridiculous to be upset over it...but I can't tell you how fast that 11 years has gone for me... and I'm thinking the next 11 years will go even faster and I'll be 80 years old, and I feel since the o/h has been gone I'm wasting my life here... :(

You're not wasting your life; you're just marking time until all this divorce crap is done with. Then you can throw your whole self into living a great life that wouldn't have been so great had he stuck around.

I'm unsure who is coming today, the nurse? They keep switching up times which can be totally frustrating at times. I see the nurse as rather useless at this point, so why bother coming out. I think I may be making some headway with hiring a private aide. It's been more challenging than first thought when dealing with a stroke recovery victim. Some of the nursing care I had forgotten from caring for my husband has come back to me now and I am getting more comfortable with caring for someone again. It's funny how your mind pushes the bad away until you need to remember it again.

My car is still not in the shop and I need to take care of that asap.

Tonight I am meeting some friends for some live music, which should be fun, but I want to make it an early night so my plan is to leave quite early. They might drag me onto the dance floor, which they have been known to do, lol.
