Happy Monday, October 21st, to all! It'll be a beautiful day here, weather-wise. There are a few things on my agenda, but nothing greatly exciting. TGS went home yesterday evening, so recovering from that a bit.

Dodgers vs Yankees in the World Series! I watched all the playoff games and think the two best teams in the leagues made it to the top, which doesn't always happen.

This should be an exciting series with plenty of runs scored, rather than boring pitching duels.

I've rooted for the Yankees since my earliest years, also became a Dodger fan when I moved to LA long ago, so I'll be happy for whichever team wins it all. Must say I'd prefer a Dodger win because, well, Shohei. ❤️
SS, I stopped watching baseball after my divorce... no fun anymore, but I've always been a NY Yankee fan since I was a child. Don't blame you for liking the Dodgers since you live in L.A. now and after all, the Dodgers came from Brooklyn! :D

@hawkdon Sounds to me like there are some unsavory characters moving into your neighborhood🐉🐲🐆

@hearlady No rain predicted for your area, either? If it doesn't rain before Hallowe'en, it'll be the first time ever with not a drop of rain here in October.

BTW, @hearlady You're right. Your bathtub trick trumps my Keurig trick. LOL!

We went out on our "rounds" this morning. Bank, credit union, Kohl's, Dollar Tree. I finally got to spend the $15 Kohl's cash that was a "reward" to me for being a good customer. There wasn't a darned thing that spoke to me (nope, nothing!), but DD and DGD found some marked-down candles they were going to buy. Instead I used the Kohl's cash. Good customer, my eye! It was a bribe because I haven't spent any money there in a good while.

Proud of me! I actually went out to the garden and deadheaded stuff. As long as I was already there, I filled up the bird baths (there are two) because it's a warm day, and the birds will be along to drink and bathe. Imagine. They bathe and poop in the same water they drink. Ew.

Trish, are you feeling better today ? perhaps there's a London Lurgy going around...altho' I haven't really been anywhere in the last few days so I don't know where I might have picked this up..
I've got a zoom appointment with my lawyer in about 1/2 hour.. so I'm not going to eat anything until afterwards.just in case ....
Hope you feel better today...
Thank you @hollydolly I hope you are feeling better too. I think it's the darker days recently, I always find grey days pretty miserable, plus I did a lot of running around last week so maybe I just need to catch up on some rest. This morning I felt like I had a heavy cold but, not so bad now except tiredness. A couple of friends have said they feel similar so, maybe something doing the rounds. :(

Sounds like your ex is making the proceedings as difficult as possible. It seems pointless but, sounds like there isn't much you can do about it. :( One day this will be history and you will be able to move on with your own life and plans. :)

Good morning all folks!!! Well I had hard time falling asleep last
nite, all that credcard business on my mind ya know....grrrr...will
be on phone a bunch today try to get things back to normal...cannot believe how this is happening, but computer and people sometime both make errors....I just have damn little
patience these days....anyhoo no other plans for the day yet...too early and still on first cuppa......see ya later...;):coffee::love:
I guess the upside is that the Bank are obviously vigilant but, yes, it is a pain. Hopefully, it will be sorted quickly (y)

Surely somebody in China is making an electric underwear winder that'll fold and roll your drawers into compact cigars for storage? Maybe even optionally seal them with a band of self-adhesive paper strip in the scent and color of your choice?

I should get on that. Maybe I'll name the product "Glad Rags" or something.

Yesterday was a super busy day for me. Right after breakfast, we cleaned all of the floors. This was the "good" cleaning, moving furniture, etc. It hasn't been done since the spring, so it was a big job.

When we were done, we took a break for a cuppa and a light snack. Then it was straight back to work, but this time it was outside things.

Dio did all of the engine maintenance to put his hobby boat down for the winter. I vacuumed and cleaned the interior. Then we put the winter cover on it, which is a bigger job than it sounds like it would be.

I also finished repainting the cat's winter house, I just need to put Goober's name on it.

I emptied all of my water bottles (for the garden) and those were tied together and hung up in the barn.

We weighed Goob (7.8 lbs) and put his flea and tick medicine on him.

Then I came in the house. I cut scraps for The Girls, and washed a ton of dishes!

By bedtime I was exhausted, and I slept like a rock!

Today, I'm not doing very well. I suspect that I have a kidney infection or kidney stone(s). This has been coming on for several weeks, so it's nothing new. The difference is that it's getting worse, and today I'm in quite a bit of pain.

Tomorrow, I have an appointment for a mammogram, so for now I'm not going to do much about this pain except take some acetaminophen. If it's not better by Wed, I will make an appointment to see an APN on Thursday.

Collecting our tickets for Thursday this morning. I must remember to stop by at the garage, a couple of the car's tyres look like they might need testing for their air pressure, (I bet I forget.) Thursday's jolly will be at The Royal Exeter Hotel in their fabulous 1812 function bar.

Work called yesterday, can I be on standby this afternoon. I get paid just for being available, so of course I can be on standby. If they don't call it will give me time to have the garage give the old MG the once over. We shall turn up in it on Thursday. I must remember to call the hotel to ask them to reserve a parking bay.

Now after midnight Tuesday. Haven't fully stopped celebrating since Saturday morning and will soon be outdoors again in the wee hours wandering amazingly quiet urban sidewalk streets with streetlights. WU website shows a cool 54F currently here. So that will be fine just like last night was since I have plenty of warm clothing combinations. Ain't it great to be retired with every next day Saturday for which the government pays one to do nothing, getting up next days at any time!

Preventing rhinovirus head cold infections

This afternoon received from Amazon an anthropology book "Marriage and Civilization -- How Monagmy made us Human" by William Tucker. So instead of watching my computer screen, the next several days will enjoy reading from a paper book. Well at least after rising late tomorrow.

At the time you first posted about preventing colds I had a sore throat. It seemed to go away the next day. However, I've been fighting a cold since then and last night it won.
Since I hadn't been feeling too bad I didn't take anything last night. Mistake. My sinus ached which made my head ache and my teeth ache. I coughed and coughed. Ugh! Bad night!
I will read this article fully and keep it handy.
I never used to get sick but I swear since I had a covid vaccine I catch everything they bring in the house. Sorry but true.
Also, it's hard to prevent when you're changing diapers, sharing sleep space, touching used dishes, cuddling, and there's no way I can't kiss that two year old on the cheek when he is being adorable. I'm doomed.

@Jules It sounds to me like you need a new laundry lady;).

@hearlady The remedy is Campbell's chicken noodle soup and gingerale. Cures everything!

It's going to be yet another sunny day. I'm almost (key word "almost") wishing for a rainy day.

No idea what's on the menu for today. DD was burning the midnight oil last night to meet a deadline. Dunno if she finished but if not, I'll be sitting around on my dead center this morning.

Did I tell y'all that Social Security sent me a letter telling me my benefit has been reduced by $1/month? Yeah. Seems like I made "too much" money in 2023, and it's caught up with me. Dang. A dollar! Whatever shall I doooo?

Anyway, if that's the case, I for sure won't be going back to work unless, of course, Aldi calls me. They pay too much to say no. It's unlikely that they'll call me, though.

I stocked up on soup before the hurricane!
Did you read my edit? I don't think I can prevent it. The little boy goes to daycare.
