On my early walk at 6:45, temp was 37 with a slight y,felt colder as I walked around the building twice before breakfast. I didn't receive my NYT yesterday because our local paper, Buffalo News doesn't print papers on holidays. This started July 4th,but I was pleasantly surprised with today's NYT,was yesterday's. I spent 40 min yesterday online doing the daily crossword puzzle, which I finished
Today my friend, Chris who used to work at same hospital I did is coming for lunch at 12:15.I would see her couple times a month walking where I used to live. I ran into her the day of my apt closing, she hasn't seen my new apt, look forward to seeing& giving her a tour of the place
I want to trade lives for a month. 🤗

I am thrilled with my window bird feeder! I affixed it to the glass door late yesterday and only noticed 3 visits, but I was busy in other area of my home.

This morning there was plenty of action. The tufted titmouse, the finch and sparrows. Only 2 at a time can fit on the perch, so there were some squabbles. I saw a large black bird on the deck; maybe a crow!

I haven't set out peanuts for the squirrels yet this morning, so a few were cleaning up seed that fell to the deck. One noticed the feeder, too high to jump to and tried to climb up the metal slider frame, but it was a no go.

Going out now with some peanuts to scatter on the deck. I', so happy I got this feeder.
Sounds busy there! 😊

Well yes I could still go to a pub but I don't drink alcohol..so that would be a waste of time. :D

it's 3pm now, so it'll be dark soon.. I really wanted to go out and take some pictures in the sunshine, it's gonna be cloudy tomorrow so no chance then..also I wanted to buy some milk... I might go into town and get milk later tonight after the rush hour traffic has calmed down in the roads into town... and after I've spoken again to the Vac company..
You could be GG's designated driver. 🍷

Happy Tuesday, November 12th to all!

Nice if somewhat windy day today with a high of 73°. There's a small chance of rain on Friday, but nothing beyond that throughout the ten day forecast. Bummer.

I'll hit the library and do my Walmart pickup today, but no other errands need addressing.

@RadishRose can you post a photo or link to your window bird feeder? That would be a great gift for one of my sons.

There you are, what did I tell you ?.. Vac has been delivered, I opened the outer box only to discover they've sent me a corded one instead of cordless !!!:oops: I've just spent 10 mins on the phone to the company, they say they can't arrange a return until they get notification that it's been delivered, from DPD... so to call back before 7pm tonight or tomorrow....

I told you this is the day when things are just all going awry....

To deal with that Holly is to tell the vendor that you are not bothered whether DPD has your proof of delivery. You have paid for, and entitled to, the correct goods. What you say, by email, is that you have paid for model XYZ, they have sent model ABC. Collection is their problem and you don't have to jump through any hoops. Just tell them that if it doesn't arrive tomorrow, they can expect a call from The Trading Standards Office.

Trading Standards have draconian powers, just the threat of their involvement is enough to cure constipation.

I have a yearly Wellness Check yearly since I turned 65.

Basically during mine : vitals are checked, vision is checked,
hearing is checked, a review of any meds I am on, and any
upcoming appts are reviewed. And a few other things if
they are of any concern to my doctor.

AND a short memory test of sorts. I am usually given three
or five words to repeat and remember. About ten min later, I
am asked to repeat those five words back to my doctor, they
can be in any sequence. I always pass those.

Appt for me is about 30 min or less.

I'll remember that for next time if there is one...(y)

I raked a large amount of leaves in the front today. It's my neighbor's tree that drops them. The tree doesn't even look like it's lost leaves yet! 😯
I have the same on my back lawn from the tree next door. They planted the tree right next to the dividing fence.. and I knew it would cause problems and it has. I asked the neighbour in July if she could get the tree cut back before winter.. she said she would, she didn't, and now my lawn is covered in those trees leaves...

going to do a little leaf raking.most will end.up being composted. not going to over do it.now that my large maple in the front yard is gone it's way less of a chore.

I read an article that recommended leaving the leaves on the ground (not more than 2 inches). We have a mulching mower so will try that. Maybe blow near the street so it doesn't look like such a disaster.

On a number of occasions, I've been expecting a parcel and the first I've known about it is an email saying it has been delivered. Sometimes there is a card through the letterbox - 'Sorry we missed you'. Strange as on every occasion, I've been in and looking out for the delivery. I get the notion that they just leave the parcel and stick a note through the letterbox to save them calling.

On one occasion, we couldn't find the package - with live plants - anywhere. having almost given up, I asked my neighbour who said 'I wondered who these were for as the address was missing, they were left outside my house in the rain'.

Both of us have to go for the dreaded "Wellness Check" this afternoon.

Has anyone else done one these?
Seems to me a waste of time & money.
I always look forward to my annual checkup. It's an opportunity to discuss health questions and issues with my doctor. No cost to me.

Why do you refer to it as "dreaded" and think it's a waste of time and money?

I've heard that too. I just rake where they gather. Up against the house in back is one area.

@StarSong I dread my yearly physical now since Kaiser has decreed that it's a physical only. If there are any questions, we have to make separate appointments for. each. question. No kidding.

@Babs2u and @hearlady The trouble with the advice about not raking or blowing the leaves off the lawn is that if you live in a very wet climate (like here), the leaves rot and get moldy, which promotes fungus. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
