Thanksgiving wishes to all who celebrate today!

We will do our usual.....dinner at the VFW with my Mom, and various friends who we meet up with. We really enjoy it. Volunteers come in at the wee hours of the morning and cook up a "home made" dinner of turkey and ham, with all of the trimmings!

No cooking or cleaning up....just enjoying the day with family and friends!

🍁 🍂 🍁 🍂 🍁 🍂 🍁

As for yesterday, well....it didn't go as I had planned (I actually didn't expect it would)!!!
Instead of getting things done from my list, we went to the gym in the morning and had a good workout!

When we got home, I did make the Cherry Dump Cake. I had never made one before......it was super easy!!!!

So, the plan now is to put up the 🎄 sometime after breakfast and before leaving for dinner.

I cleaned Monday and put up the Xmas tree and decorations Tuesday. When I was raising my kids we did it the day after thanksgiving. Going to take my shower and get ready to go out with my kids for a turkey lunch.

Then I’ll come home and take my dogs for a walk. They love eggs so for holidays I make them some. They rarely get people food so it’s a big treat.

Turkey is in the oven. DD's moveable feast got moved back to 1pm.

I'm feeling down about brother's non-Thanksgiving. He has three DDs in the same town. One is off on the sidelines somewhere or other doing heaven knows what. The other two are both working until 3 today. They've been at their jobs more than 20 years so get to choose between Thanksgiving and Christmas. One has a DH and two kids. I'm thinking they'll go to his folks' for dinner after work. The other has one DD and one DS. Her DD is in Green Bay today for the Packers game. DS lives 100 miles away, spending the day with his DW, DS and inlaws.

Um...what about their dad? Neither of the two DDs could be bothered? If one is going to her in law's, he couldn't have been invited? They're all on good terms and spend a lot of time together. The other, whose DD is at the Packers game, couldn't have made some kind of arrangements to at least spend the late afternoon/early evening together?

In the past, Bro has done the cooking and wouldn't have minded doing it again, even if only for himself and one DD.

I don't think I much like letting family traditions just fade away, especially when the most vulnerable family member is the one who loses the most. Geez. Bro has kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, yet he's alone on a "family" holiday, as much as we hear and read and see about family being "everything."

ETA: So. I'm probably going to get, as they say, drummed out of the corps, but I posted on FB about Bro being excluded from all his kids' plans on this family holiday. I only have maybe a dozen FB friends, mostly family. I'm probably gonna get flamed by them...they'll all have excuses, but none of those excuses will wash with me. None of them.

give them what for Gigi....

@hollydolly I did. They'll either post a bunch of excuses or ignore the post altogether.

If this is the way it is on Thanksgiving Day, what's Christmas going to be like for him?😟
exactly... it's just not good enough. there is no excuse for this kind of rejection , especially during the holiday..I'm pleased you stood up for your brother against his family... loyalty is Huge to me HUGE...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING from all of us TO ALL OF YOU.

My daughter working in China is missing, but in two weeks she will be coming home for Christmas and will be staying with
us until January......... The turkey was pre-cut in the kitchen. As usual, my wife prepared more food than we possibly can eat.

We spend weeks planning it, days preparing it, an hour eating it, two hours cleaning up after it, and then it's gone for another year. Now we get to spend weeks, days, an hour, two hours doing the same for Christmas? I hope not!

I hope we're going to do for Christmas what we did last year. A tray of meats and cheeses charcuterie board (we must be on trend), deviled eggs, a few other accompaniments and be done with it.

Of course I ate too much. So did everybody else, but I was smart and saved room for pumpkin pie and a piece of cheesecake.

The rest of the day is going to be spent sitting on my backside in front of the tv.

Thanksgiving started off kind of rocky here but ended on a positive note.

We had a nice meal with my three middle sons and the girlfriend of the middle-middle son (try to unravel that, haha)

Then we played Spades, which is fun; we were all kind of rusty (haven't played consistently for a long time) but enjoyed it

Still waiting for the weather to 'turn'... it's supposed to drop 20+ degrees.

Will have to take our cat to the vet tomorrow (cat fight wound has yucky stuff draining); he will probably need an antibiotic.

Looks delicious!

I'd bought some meaty chicken drumsticks for $0.99/lb. I put ginger powder, garlic powder, crystallized lime, and some lemon pepper in a ziplock and mixed it. Then put in the chicken and shook and massaged to cover it all. Added some liquid from a jar of sliced pickled jalapenos. More shaking and massaging, then let it sit to marinate. Flipped the ziplock over and let it sit a bit more. Then into the air fryer.

Mashed potatoes, corn, broccoli.

I cooked 5 of them, so I have Thanksgiving leftovers.

Yup @OneEyedDiva, it was a delicious day! Leftovers. I really hope there are only enough leftovers for today because as much as we look forward to Thanksgiving dinner, the leftovers get to be overwhelming.

It's cold this morning and going to get colder so I'm gonna spend the day inside. Maybe I'll dig out the Christmas decorations. Wait. Doing that means dusting first. Thinking...

Remember yesterday I said my FB post would either be ignored or there would be excuses? No excuses. Ignored. I hope they all get warts and ugly toenail fungus. And lumps of coal in their Christmas stockings.

Now that I think about it, last year one of them posted the "family" Christmas photo on FB, but Bro wasn't in it. I asked him where he was...well, since he's a photographer, he was behind the camera. Note to self: remind him to use a timer this year (if he's invited to the "family" gathering).

sadly they are, as so many others seem to be now..extremely self entitled..... :cautious: dobtless when he's gone, they'll be boasting about how much they did for him...or the other thing that seems to have caught hold.. if you ask to see your children or grandchildren..your labelled ''needy''...
