Sitting in the front yard, sipping masala chai, listening to the birds twitter and reading a new mystery, “The Maid” by Nita Prose.

Have to take advantage of the pretty weather while it’s here. It’s supposed to rain over the weekend.

I so enjoy the three tulip poplars in my yard; great shade trees. I dreamed the other night that the city was pulling up all the trees in the yards, and I was chasing the truck down the street yelling “you can keep the pine trees, but give me back my tulip poplars!“

CS...sounds glorious. Whenever you describe things around you so poetically, I always get visions of Gone with the Wind.....

Just got back from my errands. Walked to the bank and no problem at the drive-up. The guy ahead of me was walking too. No cars in any of the stalls. Then got to the post office but took a brief rest at the corner park. I will not lie, it was not easy but I managed. It helps to be able to sit on the walker whenever I need to.
You know, reminds me that during the Pandemic lockdowns I almost got one of these "sit-on" walkers...

My Kaiser Permanente senior medical plan hematologist specialist over my rare polycythemia vera blood neoplasm condition diagnosed 2 years ago and am quite healthy as a result of that I take simple safe medicine for, just unexpectedly set me up for an expensive set of CT scans even though I didn't ask for such and merely related briefly via a recent blood test lab results email about a condition I've endured now for 55 adult years. My regular KP doctor, I also greatly value, also knows about it but again, I've never requested KP do anything about it. ♥️♥️

At age 20 through my own fault suffered a splenic artery pseudoaneurysm that has plagued me throughout the rest of my life with occasional bouts with spleen inflammation, ischemic pancreatitis, and peritoneal cavity infections, all potentially mortal issues most people do not live long from. It is the reason all my adult life, I have refrained from drinking anything with caffeine, any foods with MSG, much less consume almost any rec drugs, and much more. Also why I living on the edge of the eternal abyss, never married since I have always expected to die at any time, so would not be able to provide for any dependents.

Medical imaging science is immensely more advanced than when I first decades ago tried to frustratingly deal with it several times. Also arterial stint surgery processes are now used to fix such issues. However because the areas are so deep in my torso, I've always been deathly afraid of any possibly surgery and rather greatly valuing life, have been content to just cope with it. Even though with the imaging alone I won't set up any surgery, just having a modern set of images available if my aneurysm ever catastrophically ruptures, is of huge value. I am so so lucky to be living in this science technology era.

We are supposed to get hit with a monster storm starting tomorrow (Saturday) evening through Tuesday evening. 5-1/2" of rain (or more) expected where I live, plus winds to 50 mph. Good grief, Charlie Brown!!!

I just measured our pool from the top of the water to the top of the coping. The water level is high from the last couple of storms and it'll overflow if we get more than 2-1/2" of rain, so DH just uncovered the deck drains so the water won't come into the house. 🤞

This morning we went grocery shopping for produce - the store was busy but not as busy as it will surely be tomorrow. We have enough other perishables and non-perishables to last us a long time - until the next millennium, I think.

Needed to take care of some business items today, too. It's been a surprisingly busy day.

I'm doing some whistling past the graveyard, but TBH some of these dire warnings are rattling me. We live toward the bottom on the south slope of a fair-sized hill/small mountain. According to the National Weather Service, all are factors that increase our vulnerability.

Forget flooding concerns, a landslide from above would wipe us from the face of the map.

DH and I will assess before the rain starts.. If the updated forecast for Sunday remains scary I'll insist on pulling together overnight bags, packing up the dog and imposing on our daughter until the worst passes.

DD lives in a flat area where localized flooding would be the biggest threat,

I practiced playing the rhythm section and bridge for the song I'm composing to honor my late DIL. It involves manipulating the buttons using just the right timing for a smooth presentation. I emptied and washed out Deja's litter box and readied the garbage for my son to take to the dumpster when he got home. I took a nap...close to four hours. My son picked up my order of stuffed mushrooms and a baked potato from my favorite diner. It's in another town but just a short detour when he's on his way home from work. I ate half the potato and one of the (3) mushrooms for dinner, then went on FB to post about my youngest grandson's birthday and check what else is going on there.

I still have to do my exercise for the day (dancing), watch more T.V. and play Words With Friends and Cody Cross. Glad I don't have many dishes to deal with tonight.

It was a lacey night, and I didn't wanna pry myself out of bed. Here I am, half awake even after having coffee.

We're supposed to have another nice day today before a cold and rainy Sunday. Maybe cold and rainy won't happen.

Time to gather my wits and stuff.

ETA: Aha! I bet my lacey night was because just before bed, I ate a bowl of Cheerios with lots of fresh fruit. Note to self: eating right before bedtime isn't usually too smart.

Well the forecast all week said it would be hotter than Greece here today... so I planned to go out..however it's 55 deg semi sunny.. and they've just forecast rain for this afternoon.... not only that, I've got a delivery coming mid afternoon as well according to the mail I just received..

Oh well.. I've got some work I can do in the garden..

DD just rang, we were talking for about 45 minutes.... she said that when I decide where I'm going to move to, I must go where I'd really like to be and not consider being within an easy travelling distance from her.

Currently she lives within a 2 hour drive.. .. but she said that she won't always live where she's living... and could move anywhere at all depending where she might decide to take job.... and I know she's right..... but I can't help thinking that I can't just choose to live anywhere at all, because I'd hate for there to be a huge distance between us which would make visiting almost impossible..
