We've had Avery good "vintage-style" kitchen spatula, lovely blade... bought second-hand. We'd looked around for a new one in kitchen stores (town & city) and 2nd-hand stores, but never found one with a nice, strong but thin-gauge working end. But its old-school plastic handle had been uncomfortable, due to the former owner letting it melt on the side of a skillet.

It was this type, but with a gnarly handle... View attachment 330576

So I spent time removing the handle. Also, rescued a handle from a worn-out veggie peeler, cut it off, drilled a hole in it & glued the tang of the spatula blade in place, using epoxy. Comfy handle, and wife approves.

(I took the picture on my workbench, rather an unaesthetic background.)

Also did a bit of workshop cleaning & tidying.

Then spent rest of the morning doing some text editing for an art-gallery information sheet. My lunch is leftover butter chicken, veggies & rice. Tasty.
Great job!

Well, I bought myself a 55" TV to use as a monitor for my tired eyes. Using it, rather than a traditional monitor, means I can open up my room a bit. So now I'm reading you all on a big screen. I wanted a 65", bit the tape measure said it was too big for the space it was to go in. :D

It's my birthday, and I used the time to start to do a spring clean. Cleaned the windows, the window seals, swept the floor. I need to mop the floors, but had to set the TV up. Remember when "setting up a TV" consisted of plugging it in? Not any more. Now it needs to connect to the internet, update its software, download apps, and goodness knows what.

Since I'm using it as a computer monitor only, you'd of thought that would be easy. Nope. The PC detected a different screen, and reset things to default. So it took some time to adjust that.

Tomorrow will be easier.

Happy Birthday, VaughanJB. I wish you a good year ahead.

These could all go in other threads.

Brrr….too cold to walk, because of the wind. Also I had lots of other things to do. Got in a mile plus just doing basic wandering about.

Couldn’t buy my eye meds. There is a shortage again. I spent an hour calling all the pharmacies I thought would have it. Checked my drawer to read the alternatives in the data info. Lo and behold, I still had a full vial. Not sure where a hallelujah thread would go.

Wore my new thrift jacket and shirt to a meeting. Several compliments for something so vibrant.

Baked dinner in the oven. It was reds hot. Even my top-rated oven doesn’t do as good of a job.

I finally made an appointment for the plumbers to come and replace my kitchen sink and faucet....I already have both items ready for them to install.
I've also been assured by the appliance dept. salesmen that a gas stove in my laundry room won't need any special venting, but that It'll require a master plumber to connect the gas line to it.
So I'll confirm with the plumbers that their firm can do that and then make an appointment to connect the gas stove.
Why? Cos the summer farmers market season starts in May, continues 'till the end of October and I NEED a second oven. With just one oven I can bake 12 loaves of bread in one day......that's 3 batches of 4 loaves each. And I sell 40 loaves every Saturday market as well as about 35 or so bags of cookies (10 oz. a bag). Do the arithmetic......that's a lot of time baking. Which I like doing. But I'd like a bit more time for other things.

With two stoves I can make a batch of bread dough, put it to rise for an hour in a warm oven and as it's rising, make another batch of dough, put it into the other warm oven, then take the first batch out, form it into loaves, let it rise the second time, then bake the loaves. By then I can take the second batch of bread dough out, form it into loaves, let them rise again and then bake. And so on through the day. I can double my bread output.......rather then 12 loaves a day I can make 24. Then one more morning's work and I'll have 40 loaves, which is about all I can sell in one Saturday market morning.

Cookie day? That's a busy, busy operation. Cookies are demanding. By myself, I'm not sure I can manage a 2 oven cookie production. We'll see about that........

This was from yesterday. I fell asleep before I got a chance to post it. 😴😴
~Laundry day today; put away all the clothes since most went on hangers.

~Washed and trimmed my hair.

~While on the phone with my BFF, I walked with Leslie Sansone for 14 minutes and what was supposed to have been close to a mile, but my pedometer app didn’t register the minutes and distance correctly. I noticed before that the minutes seem to be off by about 5 or 6 for every half hour.

~Unpacked Deja’s Chewy order.

~Ran the dishwasher twice, which I don’t usually do. Loaded one load last night.
My plan for today is to clean the house, at least part of it, and the rest remains to be seen.

@OneEyedDiva You always seem to fit so many things into your day. Have a great Friday :)

Today is cookie day for me but not at your scale I'm sure! 🙂
Going to see grands tomorrow and I'll bring them some for belated Valentine's.....or just because.
Chocolate chip.
I'll make plain for the little toddler man. I have some beet juice I thought I'd use for color.

Speaking of beet juice, I bought some Knudsens carrot juice with turmeric and ginger and some beet juice. I just have small amounts here and there. I've had to acquire a taste for the beet juice. It has some flavor, I guess lemon juice that is just awful.
Now that I expect it I am coming around. I use it to make a psylium gel.
Oh, I won't ruin the cookies with it. Just for color but I'll taste as I go!

Today I will be editing and organizing photo files, taking apart and thoroughly cleaning the NuWave oven, cooking a corned beef brisket in the IP, cleaning out a bottom cupboard that somehow got out of control, making a few batches of Keto Chow and finally getting the cream cheese olive dip/spread made. That is my plan.........will I get it ALL done? Probably not, but I will try.

Have a great day!

Good Morning all folks!!!! it is a chilly 32 deg F outside, supposed to get rain and/or snow later this morning, none
yet tho....slept okay, but awake at 4am again, ah well...I have
a real problem with these passwords we have to use on sites,
I cannot remember them after only 24hrs of changing them!!!
Thats, bad....so I'm writing them down as best i can...had a bug on this desktop yesterday, so did some stuff to correct it, most stuff I did, didn't help the problem, so then I threatend the computer by starting to reset the thing and the problem cleared up LOL!!!! I think Ccleaner was causing my probs after an update on that program...ah well keeps my brain busy !!!! Catch you later gaters!!!!!:coffee::whistle:

Mild, damp and misty here today so it's mostly inside work again. We're painting the covings in the kitchen having found a pure white kitchen paint. I didn't know that there were so many shades of white available. The ceiling lights are a bit scruffy and could do with replacing, but there are few local places that sell them. This bit of work may have to wait.

Going to cook breaded plaice with stir fried veges and creamed potatoes for dinner.

Not long back from my jaunt to the next town It's market day there today so it was pretty packed, and the nail salon was busy and asked me to come back in 1/2 hour, but I found another Salon, and had it done there.. plus it was cheaper in the 2nd Salon...

My friend Jen and I went to the pub at 12.15...thinking there would be hardly anyone there because it was so early.. wrong , it was packed solid, there was no seats to be had... . The coffee houses were also packed so instead we went to the ''Greasy
Joe ''Cafe.. and actually had nicer coffees than we get in the coffee house. I had a bacon roll as well..

Jen lost her daughter 3 years ago only age 35 from a Diabetic coma.. and this week she had a tiny little bit of her ashes made into a Diamond ring. So beautiful...

Did a little bit of top up grocery shopping to put into the freezer..Milk Bread etc... .

I wanted to get back before the Friday rush hour traffic started at 3pm, and I got back just after 2pm.. so I avoided that. The children break up from school today for half term holidays , so the roads will be a lot less congested next week...

Although I feel really sleepy,, feel the need to be out & about.

Lot of restaurants , groceries with hot foods are having fried fish on their menus.
Maybe we can go our for lunch?

Asking rest of. posters,,
Do a lot of restaurants offer fish meals during Lent?
What is your favorite way to have fish, fried or baked?
