My daughter just gave me a haircut... long overdue! It was halfway down my back and now it's a few inches shorter but still quite long. Feels so much better! ✂️
Yup, home services eheh... Been taken care of my own hair cutting since I turned 18. When hubby went for his first trim a month after our wedding, he came back very upset to have been charged 20 for such small amounts of cutting.

I offered, he never looked back. Afterall, it's much better to be paid with a kiss 💋... 😂

I've found many hairstyles over the years thanks to YouTube. It saved us loads of schloads...

Good on your daughter 👍👍👍

Goodness me, I cannot remember feeling this poorly since I had Covid in 2020... this 'Cold' is really doing a number on me..🙁🤧😷

Today I had to wait for a call from legal Eagles , so I couldn't go out and get any cold remedy type meds... so last night I ordered online and they've just arrived now at 5pm...

After the call came today and I dealt with that.., I felt sooo tired and cold , I turned the heating on and went downstairs and slept for an hour. The heating has been on now for almost 2 hours... 😵‍💫..but I was still so cold after I woke , I couldn't turn it off....I'll turn it off in a minute, or a cold won't be the only thing I'm suffering from..

I plan on getting my garbage into the bin , and doing some cleaning.
The tacos I planned for last week are finally being lunch for today - and half of an avocado will be enough for a small
guacamole sauce with some jalapeños.

I might make some cupcakes, and although we had very little snow last night, there is still some fog and my satellite dish has snow in it, slowing down my reception for internet.

I usually end up eating the whole avocado because it is so hard to keep the second half from turning brown. I leave it in the shell and douse it with lemon but that only helps a little. Do you have a secret?

I replaced the elastic in my PJ's today, and I just finished having a cuppa. Time to find something else to get into.

I hope everyone is having a good day!

I visited Catalina Island once, many years ago with friends. So pretty. I remember a fancy old theater, There was a shell gift shop where they ground off the nasty grey outer part to reveal beautiful mother of pearl layers and bands of multi colors.

Someone caught a huge Marlin and they hung it on the scale and rang bells.

The big art deco building in your lower photo is known as The Casino. It was built in 1929 and was never used for gambling ("casino" means gathering place in Italian). The theater is on the main floor and a ballroom and promenade are on the upper floor.

In the late 30s and 40s, young couples living in LA (including my in-laws) took the ferry to Catalina and danced their Saturday nights away to the sounds of big bands. It's still used for New Year's Eve and other annual celebrations, meetings, weddings and other large events. The ballroom is 20,000 square feet and is the world's largest circular ballroom without supporting pillars.

When our kids were young we'd take them to Catalina for a night or two over summer. It hasn't changed much over the years - Mom & Pop stores, very few cars (mostly golf carts and bicycles, including rentals for visitors). Laid back and charming.

Huge day this January 29, 2024 for this person and my relatives. Weather forecast for a sunny 75F degree record high today here in San Jose.

Of course, 49ers won an epic come from 17 points down thriller yesterday, so are now in the SuperBowl to face the Chiefs.

A huge winter Pacific Ocean AR storm is forecast over this next week to dump over 4 feet of fresh snow onto my Tahoe season pass resort. Kissing my S7 powder skis.

And my nephew's beautiful Desi wife that I attended their huge wedding last fall, just gave birth today to a son! So am for second time now a granduncle.

My beloved sister that passed away in June 2021 from pneumonia during the pandemic, has 2 married daughters, one with a 3+ year old son. Sadly her husband, just passed away in his sleep a couple days ago. May God be with you Ronald, we love you!

Finished making a pot of soup and am about to head off to the bedroom to start the next project: organizing and decluttering my dresser drawers, purging what I don't use or need.

Will do it until I run out of enthusiasm, then continue another day.

On an aside, in addition to DGS being sick, DDIL now has a sore throat, cough and congestion, so she's home with him.

@hollydolly Some kind of head covering will help to keep you warm(er). It keeps body heat from escaping through the top of your head. Not kidding. It really helps. Might look silly wearing indoors, but nobody's gonna know except you, right?
thanks Gigi...yes last week when it was minus degrees, I used my beanie hat indoors...just prayed no-one knocked...but it works...

Looks like this is going around like crazy. I rarely get colds... but on the occasions that I have they are whoppers, and this is no different... so I think there's probably a really strong strain of virus going around. It floored my DD last week all week...

Sorry you're sick, HD unless you have 2-zone heating, you;re better off staying upstairs since heat rises. Get well!

Congrats on your new nephew, David! 💐
I am sorry you lost your brother in law. May you receive comfort.

Went out, took the cover off the car windshield since the ice and snow are all but gone. Then, oh crap, is the battery dead? Turned out to be yes but just in the key fob! At least I could still use it to open the door and start the car, went back in the house and found I had fresh batteries to put in after all.

Got my fresh prescription picked up.

But darn. No "purple haired" lady. :ROFLMAO:

I'm so ticked off that I haven't even read all the posts.

Rant ahead.

Filed income tax:mad::mad::mad::mad: The State of Georgia is refunding $447. Fine. That's fair. BUT...the Feds? A massive refund of $102. It's $102 more than nothing except that as soon as I discovered last year (on Feb 1) that I had to pay almost $700 for 2022, I changed my withholding to an additional $20/week. That's 48 weeks or $960. I paid an additional $960 for 2023 and barely scraped through with a $102 refund? WTH? Thanks a lot for your "massive" tax breaks for ordinary people, Mr. You-know-who, the disgraced former head of state in the US...looks to me like the massive tax breaks all went to Big Business:mad::mad::mad::mad: since I paid a king's ransom last year, too. I can't even wrap my head around how much I'd have had to pay if not for the increased standard deduction for old people.

I hope this isn't viewed as political since I mentioned no names. Please don't respond except with hugs or frowns or it'll devolve into politics.

Rant over. Now I'll try to calm down and go back to see what everybody else is doing.

Oh, my. There sure are a lot of Invisipeeps who are unwell. NL at work was sick with a cold two weeks ago, and she's still coughing. On another board, posters are complaining about having coughs that just keep hanging on after having a cold. So far, we're ok in this house. Let's hope it stays that way.

Well, we're okay except for DGD and her kidney infection.

It's only 49 here today, but at least the sun was out all day. Maybe a little warmer with sunshine each day until the weekend. Fingers crossed.

Stay warm, y'all. And dry.

Made a trek to the charity store this morning. Met DH for lunch and then we went to the grocery store for eggs. Funny how these cost $47. If I’d looked at my list, they would have cost more. Now I have a six pack of orange crush, that will go stale before I drink it. The important thing was that it was on sale.

Were those eggs laid by a golden goose? LOL

Finished all my dresser drawers. Pitched a ton of old socks that slide down my ankles (why hadn't I already tossed these?), some slips (but held onto two for reasons I can't explain), a spanx (ditto on holding onto one), some pantyhose (ditto again with a few pairs), and 3 unmatched winter gloves. The solo gloves are being held with a promise to myself that I'll pitch them if their partners don't turn up this winter in the car, RV or closet.

Did I say closet? As in, the gigantic walk-in master bedroom closet we had built during a late 80s addition and remodel? Tackling that beast requires more strength of will than I have at the moment. Two levels of hanging clothes plus yards and yards of shelving. I sh** you not.

Thinking I'll set my sights a bit lower for now. Maybe the living room wall unit. That could use a judicious eye.

The closet will have to wait until the Wizard of Oz grants this cowardly lion some courage.
