Yes, and drive their neighbors crazy with the constant yard sales. Los Angeles passed a law limiting yard/garage sales to a maximum of two non-consecutive weekends per year.

There's a way for neighbors to complain about excessive yard sales. They became a genuine nuisance and eyesore for neighbors, thus the law.

Storms came through yesterday evening, with a lot of lighting, and took out our electricity. It was off for 6 hours, before coming back on. I'm hoping that we didn't lose any food from the frig or freezers.

While waiting for the power to come back on, the rain had stopped. So we sat outside and watched the bats fly around and the approaching lighting from the next batch of rain. We were both too sticky to do much else, and I enjoyed watching the bats...until the rain started again. When we went in, we had an inch and a quarter of rain in the gage. It rained all night. It's still raining and hasn't stopped. Can't wait to see how much is in the rain gage when this is all over. 🙄

It looks like our pond is overflowing, which means that we are losing our fish. Also, the rain has broken over 1000 Lycoris flowers that were just starting to bloom. 😥

we had a power cut last night here as well.. nothing was off for very long but the smart TV had to be reset.... you shouldn't lose any food, it's good for 24 hours as long as you don't open the doors..

I also have resident Bats.. and soon2bX and I used to sit in the garden just as the sun was setting and watch as the bats came out and flew around , zipping fast back and forth to get as much food as they could before dark...

Yesterday I started cutting back a burning bush shrub. There's another one to do, too, and I really should get out there and get it done, but I seem to have misplaced my motivation. I checked the closet and under the bed, but it's not there. If anybody sees it just wandering aimlessly, please send it home.

I haven't had breakfast yet but not motivated to do that, either. And then there's the lemon blueberry bread. The plan this time is to make two loaves and freeze one, if only my motivation would just show up!

I had a dental crown maybe nine months ago. I had to have a couple adjustments for sensitivity. That has finally gone away 99.8%.
The other problem has been, with this being the very back bottom tooth, the top tooth is coming down and jabbing my cheek. It has a callous and is annoying. When I went for my cleaning the dentist said to use salt water to heal it. That's all well and good but it won't heal if it's being stabbed 20 times a day!
As per me, I didn't depend on them for help. I got my thinking cap on and researched the internet, my doctor of choice.
There are mouth guards and tooth guards. Some cheap some expensive. I really needed something for my cheek. I had a little silicone face pad I never used. I cut it to fit between my teeth and cheek and its working fine. I'm not being stabbed so it should heal with the salt water. We'll see.
Just thought I'd pass that on. 👄
 
Well, the rain didn't last as long as predicted and not as much as predicted, either, but I'm not going out there until maybe mid-afternoon.

I had a kitchen adventure this morning with the lemon blueberry bread. Um. Doubling the recipe, but...the flour is in a cannister with a mouth too narrow for a one-cup dry measuring cup so I always use a half cup, so two of those for a cup of flour or sugar or whatever. Recipe calls for 1 1/2 cup of flour. Doubled is 3 cups, right? I sort of wasn't paying attention and carefully measured 3 half cups. Thought the batter looked kinda thin, but proceeded and poured the batter into the loaf pans and put them in the oven.

After about five minutes it occurred to me what I'd done!

What to doooooo? I grabbed those pans outta the oven, poured the batter into a mixing bowl, added the other three half cups of flour and mixed it all in. Had to wash and dry the loaf pans, then poured the batter back in, popped 'em in the oven and hoped for the best.

They look fine, just like they should. The *proof of the pudding is in the eating* so once they've cooled, we'll know if that five minutes in the oven before I tried to rescue the batter hurt the bread or not.

Let us pray.

@Georgiagranny ,,, I was making a scalloped potato, zucchini casserole,, little bit of onion & bit of left over ham.
Putting it together, sliced potatoes go on bottom & it's anyone's choice where the sliced zucchini goes.
toss in bit of onion & ham top with more sliced potatoes,, shredded cheese for the finish.

As usual I was slow getting lunch ready so casserole went into micro wave on medium setting.
Half way tested to see how tender veggies were,,,,,,I forgot to ad milk before I put them in!

Must of been good, hubby & I emptied the casserole dish between us!

We had rain this morning & it keeps coming back.
 
Well I'm not even going to attempt to tell you all what happened with my lawyer today.. suffice it to say this.... his lawyers had not contacted mine... so on Monday she mailed them again and today she was going to tell me what was said.. but she couldn't because once more they had ignored her...
so.. today after she spoke to me she rang them direct... his lawyer was ''out of office''..and would return my lawyers call at 3pm... 3pm came and went..no call...an hour later she received a ridiculous email saying that his lawyer couldn't return her call because she didn't have my lawyers number.. nonsense.. so instead she sent a short email in reply saying that she will be talking to her client ( my husband) this week.. and will get back to my Lawyer on Friday.

This is all absolute nonsense. My lawyer just called them today to ask if they were still representing him, given their lack of response to emails in the last 2 weeks... because prior to this they'd tried to get me to hurry up and accept his minuscule offer.. so, quote...'' their client didn't have to spend any more money on legal fees''...

So it's all turning into a Farce...

if there is no response by Friday my lawyer says I will have to file to the courts directly for a Financial Application.. given that currently he's still spending my money, the longer this goes on.
It's the only thing left to do, the drawback with it is 2 fold.. that it will be VERY expensive, and if at the end of it he's hidden his assets and there's nothing left to find to give me.. then I'm out of pocket.. secondly the courts in the UK are notoriously slow.. and this could take 2 years to come to court again... giving him more time to spend or hide assets ...so in the meantime I will file an application to the Land registry to put a restriction on the sale of his property... so at least he can't sell that, and at the end of the case..the property will have to be sold..
 
Surprise. The lemon blueberry bread turned out just fine. One is sliced and sitting on DD's kitchen counter (minus one slice that I kept to try); the other is in the freezer.

@hollydolly Sure sounds like he figures he can just wait you out :mad: I like the idea of putting a restriction on the sale of his property. If nothing else, you'll get some of that. But years? It's gonna take years?

yes unfortunately, she explained that it will take at least 2 years because the Courts are so backed up in the UK with cases.... I don't know if she was kinda hinting that I should accept his low offer to save myself the stress of going to court myself and representing myself ( because it will cost up to 30k to employ a lawyer to represent me) .... she did say..''this is going to get much worse before it gets better''.... and it will take 2 years to get to court.. and then .. it's going to be very expensive, .. and so on... but I told her nope...

I'm not going to allow him to get away with this.. I did nothing wrong.. it's bad enough he cheated on me and spent 1/2 my money on a love nest for his whore.. and now he's continuing to steal from me.. Nope I'll see this through..

I'm gonna make sure he knows he's been in the biggest fight of his life...

Orthodontists have a wax that can be used if braces are rubbing or cutting into the cheeks. This would work for you.

Took the car in early for the recall repair to give the mechanic the time he needed to learn this job. He said they'll have "hundreds and hundreds" of these to do, and lucky me I got to be first. The fuel pump on this car seldom needs replacement, making this a novel operation.

Manufacturer estimate is 2 hours of labor. This guy spent 3 1/2 hours to do it right. Part of the process involves removing the rear seat and then putting it back afterward. Looks good, no squeaks or gasoline smell on the way home.

Dear me. I just got an "exit survey" from Kroger. After much thought, I took the survey, but before submitting it, looked at my responses over and over again so that I wouldn't come off as a Negative Nancy and so that I wouldn't throw anybody under the bus.

As we say in the South "I done good."

ETA: OMG! Hope I didn't "done good" so much that they ask me back. I can't. I have plans. In the garden. Ack!

I went to the supermarket this morning. I disinfected the containers of the items needng refrigeration before putting them away. After my nap, I had a lot of other things to put away because there were also groceries and Amazon orders from a couple of days ago, plus Deja’s food.

My granddaughter called this evening so we could go over a quiz I emailed to her for this week's financial workshop with me.
 
It's just after 7am....and a glorious hot sunny morning... all's quiet on the western front currently before the school rush...

In a couple of hours I have to leave for my appointment at the hospital .. and then hopefully afterwards, I can go and get the monthly grocery shopping... never my favourite thing to do, but I prefer to choose my own produce rather than order it online and have someone else choose it..

today is set to be in the 80's.. and tomorrow higher still... if I have the energy later I'll trim the hedges, .. if not it'll be tomorrow...

For once, the weather yesterday was good, but we had to go shopping and in the afternoon it was off to the Macduff vaccination centre for some jabs.
At the centre, the nurse asked why we had gone to Fraserburgh for our last jabs, and we said because that's the appointment we were given.
'Oh, just ignore that and come here' she said. This was good as it's virtually impossible to park anywhere near the Fraserburgh centre, and it's a rambling old building - but the Beatles once played there before they were famous.

That was Wednesday pretty well written off, but work is progressing well at repairing our lounge ceiling.

It's a rock and a hard place isn't it? I think, if it were me, in the same circumstances, I would choose fight over flight too. I think I would take the view that, if I accepted the "pocket money" I'd been offered, I would always regret it whereas, I would never regret standing up for myself regardless of the outcome. It's a brave decision though, I wish you every success (y):)
