Trouble now is, I can't get onto the government's wildfire information site. We were watching their reports two days ago. It could be the Microsoft-system outage has affected the gov't's systems. The wildfire up the mountain ravine where the tower is located is the most threatening to homes in our area, so the water bombers may be tied up with other nearby fires.
I’m getting into the BC Wildfire Service site right now. Is this the one you’re using? I was surprised that there’s not a lot information for each fire.

Surprise... one more morning with internet service! I deeply appreciate the sympathy & well wishes a number of people expressed after I posted yesterday. Internet actually disappeared last night, so I was supposing the fire had damaged or destroyed the transmission tower. But I guess not yet. But our air is quite smokey.

There may be some other ways to get news. It's not quite a polite hour yet, but I'll soon be phoning friends to learn if anybody knows anything.
@JBR Please wear masks. Any help you can get with the air.

Plan today is for DGS & Co. to visit at some time today. I'm going to make chicken parm but with an emergency jar of Prego. I have containers of my own sauce in the freezer, but there's Italian sausage pieces in it and DGD-in-law doesn't eat pork.

It's 75F, feels like 81F, overcast, rain possible after 4 pm.

Today is sunny and hot (well hot for here!) and we asked Likkle Grandson (3) what he wanted to do.

"I want to go on a big double decker bus! On the top floor!" was the answer. So that's what we did. The bus stop for the 15min trip into the city is on the corner of our street about 50m away - and they run every 15min. So not a problem. I haven't been on a bus since we moved here 2 years ago! A fun day out :)

Good morning, boys and girls. It must have rained all night, and we're supposed to get more again this afternoon and tonight and tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow... Love it right now but holy cow! The forecast for the next 10 days shows nothing but rain. First nothing but heat, now nothing but rain. The temps are down, and along with the rain, they're expected to stay in the mid-80s for the next 10 days.

DSIL and DGS went to a Braves game last night. They hardly ever get to do anything together, and the darned game got postponed to this afternoon. I don't know if they can get to that one or not.

Today's agenda includes a haircut. That's about it unless the kitchen cabinets get their turn at being cleaned.

It's nice to get dressed every day and not have to put on tops that I would only wear to work. Now I get to wear nicer things that have been languishing in the closet unless it's a day off and I'm going somewhere.

Later...started keying this in when DD came along and said, "Let's go" so we went🚶‍♀️. Hair has been cut, and I feel 10 lbs lighter:ROFLMAO:. It was so cold at the salon that I've just brewed myself a cup of coffee to warm up.

Update on DSIL/DGS and Braves game. DSIL was able to exchange tickets for a different game. Yay.
I gave up on going to the stadium for games…. I always seem to get a seat right by a loud drunk 😒🙄

@JBR i pray the fire misses your property and they get it under control very quickly

Been a weird day…. Got up around 0600, walked and had breakfast (including a cup of strong tea), then climbed back into bed and slept for another 2+ hrs. Just up and trying to plan my day.. Duuuuhhh

Some how when I was getting ready to clean the chest freezer,, I lost parts of the hose I used to drain it.
Yesterday I kept trying hook back into t he larger hose ,hhmmm????

This morning hubby & I worked on it.
He had the parts we needed,,,I'll be able to water out veggies.

This morning while walking the dog,, think I scared out a grown cat.
It went into the weeds & brush.

Wonder if its the mother to the kitten hiding in out fire wood?

Okay, then. The upper cabinets have been cleaned and even the nuke box taken down from its shelf so that I could clean under and behind it and the top of the fridge has been cleaned. (Show me a kitchen that always has a clean fridge top, and I'll show you a house where tall people live.) I feel sort of virtuous, but...there are still all the lowers to do. That's going to get saved for another day.

There's a shelf over the nuke box where I keep the most-used cookbooks. Or the ones that I used to use in the olden days when I cooked every day. Took all those down and cleaned that shelf, too, and even dusted the tops of the cookbooks. Dusted...er...they don't get used much these days.

Then there are two 5x8 books that have all my hand-written recipes from way back when, some from the 60s(!) and a big three-ring binder with recipes that were printed out from the web, recipes in plastic sleeves...geez.

While I was putting them back, a bunch of loose recipes cut from magazines or newspapers fell out. I found some that were dated from the early 90s, before we left here and moved back to the UP. History. Gonna keep all those. DD and DGD will have fun going through them someday after I've become a crispy critter.

Today was a trip down memory lane in the cooking/baking/canning department.

I found a buncha stuff in the cabinet over the fridge that should have gone to Goodwill on the last trip. Oh, well. It's not like Goodwill will close or like we won't go there again.

@hollydolly C'mon over and do my vacuuming, too. The Hovel is so tiny that it'll only take about five minutes. When you're done with that, how about the windows? I have the kind that tilt in so that both sides can be washed without going outside. Thanks.

More rain! There'll be a lawn mower being guided around the lawn by me in another two days or so if the ground dries out enough.

I'm spending the day feeling trapped at home because a treadmill I ordered on Prime Day is supposed to be delivered by 8 PM, and I'm very anxious to catch the delivery person and get them to bring it into the apartment (it is a small treadmill, but will be one very heavy box). The shipping status is 'Out for Delivery' but there isn't any info about how many stops away it is.

It wasn't supposed to arrive until next Wed, so I don't feel properly prepared. I saw the out-for-delivery notice on my phone when I woke up, so before I even had breakfast I put the loveseat on coasters and slid it to the dining room, discovered the cat had throw up behind it so cleaned that up, and vacuumed the area.

I think I'll need to rearrange all the furniture in the living room. I wish the cat hadn't fallen in love with the rolled up bed topper I'd laid in one corner. I hadn't rolled it up tight and it loosened into a tunnel, which he goes into every day for hours.

C'mon! Midsomer Murders? It's supposed to be a small county, and it's already a stretch to believe that so many murders happen there, but tonight's offering wants us to think there's a serial killer on the loose in Midsomer. Really. At this rate, there won't be anybody living there at all! LOL

I walked to the Amazon hub to pick up my packages, then to the gym to use the treadmill. Ironically, I left a hour later than planned again today and wound up getting to the gym the same time (8:10) I did last time I made that run. After napping and eating lunch, I gave myself a much needed manicure. I logged onto my brokerage from my iMac so I could screenshot my beneficiary designations and put them into specific folders on my external hard drives. For some reason, I've been having trouble trying to get this done using my PC. I'm glad I kept the Mac because there are a couple of functions that don't work "right" on the PC. SOS during the rest of the day.

@OneEyedDiva Manicure! When I was working in the bakery, I kept my nails short. Short as in used a nail clipper on them rather than a file. In a few more days, they'll be long enough that I can give myself a manicure. Can you even imagine after 2 1/2 years? Since I left the bakery, I've been generous with the cuticle conditioner and pushing back the cuticles every day, even going so far as putting the conditioner on my hands, too. Pretty soon my hands won't look like crab claws anymore🦀. When gardening season is done, I'm going to...wait for it...take myself to a salon for a "real" manicure💅. I might even get wild and crazy and have color put on my nails. Color!

A face lift, some botox, a fanny/tummy/thigh tuck, and I'll be good for another 10 years:ROFLMAO:.

ETA: For whatever reason, I counted up. Leaving the bakery is the sixth time I've "retired" since 1990. If I were a cat, I'd have three more "retirements" to go...jussayin'

fanny is the word for V agina in English

@hollydolly It's the same as behind/backside/butt over here! LOL
I know that..but it's always a shock to see it written down..because here it would be censored.. Funnily enough when I wrote the V word, this forum censored it completely which is why I had to separate the first letter from the rest..but when we hear Americans referring to f..nny packs.. it's a source of great hilarity here

Slept last night, yay, from 8:30 pm till 4:30 am. Couldn't have done it without Xanax, which saved me after midnight when I woke up and have been staying up. Really must get this sleeping under control; it could kill me and I'm not ready to go.

Sunny day makes a promise to me that the day will go fine.

To @Aunt Bea
Glad to see you again. I remember I liked you. I don't remember why. Hope you stick around long enough to refresh my memory.

With hopes to all, including me, for a good day where no one bothers us; at least if they do, we can handle it.

Happy Sunday, July 21st, to all!

Had a very enjoyable day yesterday - saw all our kids and grands, and most were able to stay for an assemble-your-own Spring Roll dinner. Delicious and plenty of leftovers. Today will be a lot calmer, but not nearly as fun.

Nothing much on the schedule right now - house is clean, fridge and freezer are stocked, gonna be a warm one so an early swim and our house guest will be spending the day with an old friend today.

Unless something more intriguing comes up, I'll go back to the cookbook organizing chore - might be able to complete the task today.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

I use mine (landline) to locate my cell phone when I misplace it. There must be a better way.
You can set up your computer to ring your phone. Depends what type of phone you have, you'd have to do a websearch to see what website will do that for your phone and phone service. Or tell us what you have - another SFer may have your type of phone and can guide.

I just heard back from primary. The mature nurse who called has the same problem with the same prescriptions. She said keep 45 mins to an hour between meds. Her hint was to take thyroid med when she has early morning bathroom call. Then the gut medicine upon getting up. Then she showers etc., and it's time for food. No waiting 2 hours for breakfast. That was a good idea and reassuring.
I've taken daily Rx meds for hypothyroid since age 20, well before info packets came with every prescription and when rarely was advice offered about timing one's pills. Bottle instructions: one per day.

I try to take mine early morning - along with my coffee (that has cream and sugar). If I forget and take it with lunch? Well, I'm still here and my metabolism is still humming along nicely.

My advice: don't sweat it too much.
