Spent Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the Palo Alto Festival of Arts (art/food/music) massive street fair.

At noon Tuesday bought via Vividseats, a $20 lawn ticket for the 8/27/24 Santana and Counting Crows concert at Shoreline Amphitheater (12 miles distant). The Ticketmaster base price was $67, however an oversupply of resale tickets near the concert date, this time benefits buyers. Was an enjoyable night with Santana playing most material from his popular 1969 work to a lively sell out crowd.

There is also a Journey, Def Leopard, Steve Miller Band, concert tonight 8/28/24 at Oracle Park (SF Giants stadium 55 miles distant) but even the nose bleed tickets were $106 yesterday while today as the concert approaches and ticket resellers drop their prices afraid they may get zero $$, that has already dropped to $45 now at noon. Will wait till 3pm, another 90 minutes and see if I can buy a ticket cheap enough to make the drive.

This Wednesday morning, completed initial html coding of 4 pages of content I've been working on the last couple weeks that I'll in a couple days upload to my website. So for now, will celebrate this afternoon on completing that task that includes a lot of post processing for a few dozen a6700 images.

I was supposed to sort laundry last night, which I didn't do. That meant I didn't have clothes ready to take downstairs in the wee hours. I didn't feel up to it then anyway. So I decided to set up my machines and did the wash in the apartment. I also updated my budget spreadsheet to reflect yesterday's purchases and had a business meeting with my son.

I survived. Barely. Wish I'd been warned about pain and swelling. Eyes are mere slits. Everything looks like seeing through layers of gauze. Woe is me. Follow up at 11:30. Can't see enough to read any replies. Good thing I type by touch.

Not much sleep because of the pain.

Oral surgery was easier. So was being in labor.

ETA: To clarify, it wasn't the surgery that was difficult. It's the after effects.

Morning all folks....Ggranny a special g'morning to you for
your trials, hope you recover fine.....this is an achy day for me,

but here i am surviving LOL...no big plans yet, got laundry
finished up yesterday....have not seen fox it a few nites, last
nite there was a possum looking for food at the exact spot
I put the hot dogs for fox, so that tells me something is stealing
the fox food....LOL....ah well....make it a good day!!! ;):coffee:

My early morning walk at 6:30, I wore my yellow reflector vest since it was still a bit dark& the sun hadn't broke through yet as I went to buy local paper. I didn't think I needed to wear it quite yet, glad I did
It boggles my mind I've been living here at Canterbury Woods- Gates for 3 months today, this summer has certainly gone by fast for me as I got used to my new surroundings& apt.I'm very happy living here
The rest of my day take mid morning walk , read local paper, NYT and my book

Been a glorious sunny day today. Spoke to my sister for an hour, and she sent me photos of her son..all grown up and married.. and a photo of our estranged brother that was sent to her by another relative. I didn't recognise him

In our lives we were very close from being toddlers.. but as an adult he went completely off the rails and we cut contact with him.. the whole family did...but I always thought I'd recognise him in a crowd of hundreds... but he looks completely different. A lot like a slimmer version of our father.....I was shocked..
Of course we all grow older, and we change but we girls haven't changed too much from our younger selves.. we'd still know each other in a crowded room.. same with my elder brother.. but I wouldn't have recognised my younger brother easily. Alcohol abuse , sis was told..

I went out to town.. very sunny and warm today... took some photos of my road into town for anyone who might be interested in seeing where I live...

@hearlady, are you and your husband planning to take Paxlovid? It seems to shorten the bout by interfering with the virus's ability to replicate in the body, thus preventing hospitalization and death. Also seems to help prevent long Covid. I get the side effect of a terrible metallic taste in my mouth, but soldier through.

So sorry you're both sick - it seems to be everywhere these days. DH & I are planning to mask up at grocery stores and other public places for at least the next several weeks because we have an important event coming up that we really, really don't want to miss.

I'm infuriated by articles that discuss and interview a large proportion of people who admit they suspect (but don't bother to test) or know for sure (have tested positive) they're sick with Covid, but continue on with life as usual. Shopping, working, going to parties, etc., UNMASKED and without advising others, blithely spreading the virus around because they're "so over the pandemic." Justifications include, "after all, this is now endemic, and no worse than a cold."

Between 400-700* Americans are dying from Covid per week during this surge, so it's definitely worse than a cold. A lot worse. No, it's not as bad as the height of the pandemic when we were losing 25,000 a week, but today's numbers are still alarming enough that people who are sick with it should stay home, and if they MUST go out, wear a KN95 or N95 mask to protect others.

Sorry for the rant, but this chaps my hide...

@Georgiagranny, in 2019 I only needed one eye done, but when I awoke there was no swelling or blurriness. Did your doctor say this was within normal parameters of what to expect post-surgery? (I did develop a macular pucker a couple of weeks later and needed some additional drops for 4-6 weeks to resolve that minor complication.)

Hoping you're feeling better very soon. @Sliverfox, my husband will be getting cataract surgery in a couple of months and I'll have him try your trick with eye drops in the fridge. Thanks for passing that along.

He has ordered Mono something (?) from the V.A. They didn't want to give him Paxlovid due to too many side effects.
I got up kind of achy, made some oatmeal but couldn't eat it. Went downhill from there. I took Tylenol and took a nap. Got up, reheated and ate oatmeal. Feeling ok right now and I need quick shower. Then time for Tylenol which is fine for me.
DH has more respiratory issues.
I understand you're frustration. Sorry any of us had to have covid.

I've heard about that medication. Not everyone can take Paxlovid due to some pre-existing conditions as wall as medication conflicts.

Covid wipes out my appetite, too.

Hope you feel better soon.

Lucky you. Santana makes me feel like dancing.

Woke up achy and sore. This is from my shopping day yesterday, I cruised 3 stores plus other household activities. Feel fine now.

Cool at 69F and overcast. Chance of rain this evening.

Guess I'll be joining the folks in trying to prevent covid and start wearing masks again. No plans today; just the usual picking up. No cooking either. I've been craving sandwiches. Oh, maybe I'll vacuum.
