A lot more leaves raked, mulched, piled into the curb container. More to go, but only one last pickup for the season. I guess I'll stuff a few yard barrels and let them overwinter in there.

Getting dark already so I locked the car and brought things in. I vacuumed in there and swapped in the winter floor mats. It'll rain tomorrow anyway, and then we might get a ton of snow by the end of the week.

Why can we not have some rain? It has been months. Today I had to race down to project house #1. Talked to a realtor two days ago and listed last night. Told realtor I did not want to show till after thanksgiving….but he had a showing today. So. It was dark thirty when I started driving…treated with a beautiful sunrise. Fixed a few little last minute things. Then caulked around windows on project house #2. Home again by three. Whew.

Today started off sunny and bright, but it has now turned overcast and windy. We escaped the worst effects of storm 'Bert' and I hope things get better quickly for those in Wales and south of England who have had a bad time with flooding. Forecast is for light rain this afternoon, but with the wind it could be quite unpleasant.

I'm just off to switch on the light - it's suddenly become quite dark here.

glorious, sun today currently.. Icy breeze, but beautifu sun, I;ve got the windows open in several rooms...

We're fortunate that we live high up, so flooding is very rarely any kind of problem here..only if some drain was to be blocked.. Poor Wales.. and some places in England have been battered...the flooding is the most devastating of it all.. beccause every year these places get flooded, and houses and business ruined.. but they can no longer get fllod insurance.. It's just heartbreaking for them

It's morning again. Mild so far and going to be 70-ish today so I guess more cleanup needs to get done in the garden before the weather turns cold and ugly in the next couple of days.

Note to self: get the heck off your dead center and get out to the garden. Get 'er done  because it's not gonna clean itself up.

I ordered the last (I hope) little odds and ends from Amazon last night and already supposed to be delivered this afternoon.

Another note to self: Don't forget to take the turkey breast out of the freezer this afternoon.

Morning all folks!!! It is 44F outside, slight chance of rain but
I doubt it...slept rather fitfully last nite, still got the hot flashes,
tho I took the last of the antibiotic yesterday....got to start the

On my early walk at 6:45, temp was 36 no wind was refreshing as I walked around building twice before breakfast. I saw the quarter moon, a plane high in the sky with white plume, the sunrise was orange/ red/ pink
I've invited my friends, Don& his partner Dave for dinner tonight at 5:30 in the dining room. They have been here twice for lunch but not dinner I talk to Don couple times/month see what's happening at the old place. I did learn that the board chairman, Bob who gave me such a hard time at my closing has resigned. I don;t why he did it now considering his term ends in Dec
The rest of my day enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, take afternoon walk, read NYT

You're having too much fun with all these dining partners! ;)
Good for you. This move has been great for you, Sue.
Sounds like ole' Bob may have been "spoken to" after his behavior with you.

Yesterday, met an old friend for coffee. She lives far now, but had an appointment nearby. Met at a nice little cafe.

Today is slated for housework, so not much going on.

Received Amazon delivery of dog treats, oatmeal, Malden salt and a 12 pack of La Croix pack of plain seltzer. Have more stuff coming tomorrow; canned Italian plum tomatoes, beef broth, 3 boxes of Kleenex and a new broom with standing dustpan. Whoopie! 😀

....another driv-by post today. There is so much to do this time of year, plus the various doctors appointments, etc, I feel like I'm always busy with something! And there is always more to do! Sleeping in late this morning didn't help, either!!!

I just wanted to stop by and wish sunbeams for everyone!

Woke up this morning, drank some cold coffee, started a fire to heat up the house to 'nice'. Today the plan is to drive 50 minutes into town, run errands, have lunch, spend a little time on the library.

Yesterday was interesting. A friend of ours from town, Merri (about 40), arrived with her cute 3-year-old daughter. But this visit she came with friends. Merri is a trained pastry chef who works in one of the town's larger restaurants, and she brought two women who work with her as kitchen assistants. They were both culinary students in their 20s, one from India, one from Indonesia. They both had good English-language skills, and had studied English back in their homelands before coming to Canada.

After visiting indoors with us for an hour or so, Merri, her little daughter, and the two young ladies put their warm clothes & boots back on, and went out to build a snowman — a totally novel, fun experience for the two Asian ladies.

One interesting thing occurred before that, when or friendly MaineCoon cat, in full winter coat, came into the living room. The Indonesian lady couldn't take her eyes off him, and her face wore a fascinated expression as she watched him simply walk around, and finally jump up on a low table and settle down for a peaceful rest. I asked her, and she said she'd never seen cats as pets before, back home... it was a fresh experience to see this sort of wild 'thing' just be unthreatening, comfortable, and part of the situation.

Just edited to add this pic of Olivia, Merri's daughter, with the snowman...

About 2/3 of the garden has been cleaned up. This "old" stuff isn't sitting well with me. I want to do the rest but just can't. Maybe this afternoon? Recognizing my limitations doesn't make me happy at all! The garden cleanup really needs to get done because next week we're being threatened with high temps in the 40s and lows in the...wait for it...20s!

After I came in and cleaned up, I remembered to move the turkey breast from the freezer to the fridge. Yay me.

DD and DGD are gone to Publix for one last run before it gets really crazy. Later DD is going to take me to the post office and to drop some things off at Goodwill.

Started the day with coffee and emails. Went to a link, which took me to Amazon, which took me to Land’s End, etc, etc. That sure burned an hour quickly.

It’s just below freezing and the trees are really shaking. It doesn’t make me want to go walking.

Been to the post office and to Goodwill. As soon as I have something to eat, I'm gonna go back out to the garden and try to finish up.

So DD and DGD went to Publix to get last-minute stuff. Right? The ONE thing we really NEEDED to get was oven bags for the turkey. Did they get oven bags? Of course not. Why not? Because DD doesn't make a list .

I always make sausage/cheese muffins for breakfast on Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings. DGD wanted to know if I'm making them Thursday morning, and I told her that if they forget the oven bags again, they aren't going to get muffins for breakfast. Reckon that'll be the impetus to remember? LOL

Congratulations to the new convertible! Duck!

I went and stayed with grandkids, sort of last minute, yesterday. Normally I would have stayed over as they got back around 8:30. I couldn't stay though because we were leaving early this morning to go towards Raleigh and do some Christmas shopping, have lunch, spend the day out.
Well, my daughter lives an hour and 15 minutes away now and even though it was just 8:30 it feels so late now. I rarely drive at night. In fact, since I retired I may have twice. Next time I must stay over.
We did have fun on our day out. As stores start their Christmas sales we are going for certain things. I got myself a beautiful velour and fleece spread for my bed. I did get some things for others too. 😉
