How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

Windy with occasional light showers. It's dark now and the wind has dropped, but it feels a lot colder than the thermometer says.
Our cases are packed and failing any last minute cancellations, we're off to Bergen, Norway, tomorrow. Strangely, the forecast is for Bergen being warmer than Aberdeen, although it's a lot further north.

Add to my medal 🏅 collection!

In the past three days, the rugs have been repaired, the tile grout cleaned, and I've been out to tidy up the garden. I even washed up some dishes. I saw and conquered. Well, mostly conquered except for cutting back the cannas because they aren't dried out enough from the frost to cut down to the ground. No matter. There are at least two more months.

Gosh! Only two? The rest of December takes us to mid-January, another month to mid-Feb-u-dreary and then time to prep for planting again. Tempus fugit⏳.

DD went to Publix and bought sausage. Yay.

That's enough effort for one day. Time to rest🛌 and watch mindless TV.

On Sundays I normally go to my eldest son's for a meal followed by quiz/games but gave it a miss today as he has to catch an early train tomorrow. (He's off to Scandinavia, work related). I've made some spag bol for the freezer, done some washing and general housework plus a stroll up to Aldi (only five minutes away) and bought a few stocking fillers for the grandkids. Youngest son called round this afternoon and he's coming round on Wednesday to do a bit more decorating for me. Once that's finished I might even get a few decorations out....🎄🎅

The red car is my wife's 2010 Honda Fit with over 134,000 miles that needs a repair.
My sand-colored 2012 Toyota Corolla has 53,000 miles down and will last another ten years.
Both of our present cars cost less than $20K, while now the average new car price is supposedly around $48K per Internet.

So, I bought my wife a new 2025 Toyota RAV4 XLE Hybrid on occasion of her planed retirement from work next May.
Buying the car through the Auto Club's "Car Buying Service" at the car dealer's "Fleet & Internet Department," saved us $2,000.IMG_6834.JPG

Our way home on Freeway 91 through the Santa Ana Canyon, I am following my wife's red car just ahead of me.
The inner two lanes are for pay while the outer five lanes are free, but the free lanes are stop-n-go during peak hour traffic.

And of course, I have to sneak in a picture of my grandson playing with my pups right now. My 95 pound "Ross" has lunch and is
not in the picture. Ross loves my grandson and will gladly tolerate any mischievous ear-pulling from him. Heidi on top of Otto is
just as mischievous. With me, my three Boxers are very calm; but my 5 y/o grandson has the ability to turn them instantly go wild.

Tonight I’m having my 5 friends that live in my building over for dinner. I do that every 2-3 months. In December we exchange small gifts. So I cleaned the bathroom and made the casserole. I’ll bake it when they arrive.

Thursday Amy my Maltese went to the vet because she’s been coughing and wheezing. She’s on medication for a heart problem. She was put on a diuretic which seems to be helping. Last night a hour after falling asleep I woke up to her throwing up. I change the comforter and put her on her potty pad.

In the middle of the night I take her to potty again . Then at 6 max wakes me up barking in my ear because his sister is trying to get off the bed to potty again. She won’t use the steps. That was a short not fun night 🙄.

We didn't venture out until this afternoon when the rain and wind had stopped. One of the neighbours was standing outside, she pointed upwards and there was a brush and pan perched on top of one of the trees! Presumably it had been blown from somewhere. Apart from that, we didn't see any signs of damage.

On the way home, the rain started again but, we made it home before it really poured. Sad to see how much damage has been suffered in some parts. :(

@Teacher Terry - Ahh, your post reminded me of my dear beloved maltese. He had heart issues in the last years of his life and we were on a 2 hour cycle throughout the night - when I would have to take him out to go to the bathroom (although most of the time I think he just wanted to be up and about and would not walk up/down the stairs either - outside or up to the bed, so anything he needed, I needed to be up and ready to do it. I always said I was his dutiful servant - anything he wanted, I would accomoodate immediately or he would express his displeasure loudly! ha ha!
I should have done a better job of establishing who was in charge! Definitely a lot of short, not fun nights - but wow, I miss that little one every single day! I never dreamed a small little ball of fluff could open my heart like he did. What a true gift to have had the experience. How old is Amy? Have you had her since she was a small pup? And, you have another dog as well, a maltese?
I'm sending you good thoughts as I know it is not easy when these pups have health issues and need so much attention. Hope you have a wonderful time tonight with your friends and that Amy and your other pup are able to get some rejuvenating rest!

I got my first Maltese 20 years ago because it was one of the few breeds that I’m not allergic to. I was immediately hooked on them. It was a slippery slope and for many years I had 4 because of rescuing Maltese that were older and no one wanted them.

Then in a span of 2 years they all died plus a few of my friends. So I got max as a puppy. His owner quit showing dogs and didn’t want to keep 10 dogs. A year later she gave me his half sister Trix that was only 3. Five weeks later she died because of a rare autoimmune disorder that caused her brain to hemorrhage and they think it’s caused by the rabies vaccine.

So the owner gave me Amy who was 5 and is now 11 in January. Luckily they are pad trained so I just get out of bed and put her on the pad. She’s also Max’s half sister.

@Teacher Terry - OH yes, those sweet little Malteses can certainly hook you! ❤️

Just booked to see Graham Nash next October.
New Theatre in Cardiff again.
Get in quick if you want to go…not many tickets left.
thanks for the heads up, Furry...I loved the Hollies but Im not a fan of the walking ego that is Graham Nash....

I'm envious tho' of all the acts that you get there. I was just asking my dentist who just moved from Cardiff, a year ago.. if it's worth me moving there.. his answer was not positive unfortunately... :(

Today thankfully the rain has stopped and the wind has lessened a great deal, and it's trying to be sunny now at 10.30am . I've been out and cleared the downpipe of all the leaves...
