How long have you had your Drivers License?

I958. I was working and had the opportunity to buy a cool car before I actually had a license so I hurried up and got one. 1952 MG TD
The MG TD was the car that I so liked, my good lady wasn't adverse to my buying an old classic but did say that an open top car and airborne pollen are not good for her asthma. The garage proprietor of the garage who looks after our modern day VW, told me about the MG Y-Type, a car that shares about 85% DNA with the TD, a perfect compromise.

The UK drivers licences nowadays, looks just like a credit card. All the relevant information is embedded in a chip. The previous licence was some A4 size paper affair. Who thought that up? Up to the end of the 1960's, UK driver's licences were a small, passport look-a-like booklet. Do you want to see what I mean?

It still sits in my wallet, even though it's no longer valid. One evening, going home, a police officer gestured me to head into a lay-by. Nothing to worry about, it was no more than a routine check of random drivers. When asked to see my licence I produced the one above. This caused much amusement and, after seeing my current licence the dated one was photographed by the police and enforcement officers before they sent me on my way.
I almost forgot the thread title. I have had my driving licence well over sixty years.

Haven't driven in 20 years when I crashed my car on the way to my first chemo session. I was wrong to be driving, I was so nervous. Have held a current license for 57 years. I am not renewing this year. Will get a passport for ID instead.

50 years and I still remember the physical test. I’d taken driving lessons (never let your spouse teach you) and the instructor said some people have a leg that starts shaking. I’d never had it before or since.

We have to renew our license every five years. They’ve started asking if you have any medical issues that can interfere with driving. If you lie and are in an accident, your insurance becomes void. DH had to get a doctor’s evaluation.

Passed mine in Sept 1967 aged 17yrs
Passed Advanced Motorist in 1971
Became ADI (Authorised Driving Instructor) 1972

I have had a license for 72 years. I have had license at various times from 6 states plus one for Navy vehicles. Down to just a Florida license now.
