Me too and soft rock. Thankfully there's Pandora now, and I can listen to what I like. When I write love scenes in my novels I listen to 80s country western. It sets the mood.

The generation is generally defined as people born from 1946 to 1964, during the post–World War II baby boom.

As for the "Boomers" being a generation:

My oldest sister was born in 1941, so not a Boomer, although I am.

Her daughter was born in 1961, so she is a Boomer.

So my sis and I are not in the same generation, but my niece and I are.

I must be the oldest "boomer" born in 1946! Wowee Kazowee! Still feel the same on the inside as I did in my 40s when life finally began making sense to me. If I could choose an age to live my entire life at that age it would be around 40. Not because of what was happening in my life but because it was an age where I finally really came to know myself better. My health was great, I was in good physical shape and I began to see the world differently. I became less self centered as well.

Before 1946? That's my generation. They call us the Silent Generation. (Ha!)

I didn't include the year of my birth because of identity theft. Any site that asks for my birthday I put a false one. Thieves out there compile data from here and there for those purposes. But I am also one of the older boomers.
