How many besides me, hate Sundays?

I wish we could go back to Sunday as it used to be...church in the morning, then Sunday dinner (roast beef and yorkshire pud), then a lazy afternoon. Now Sunday isn't much different from the rest of the week. Another of the modern changes which are not for the better.

Why can't you do that?

I have always liked Sundays...now Sunday nights, that was different because it meant school the next day when I was a kid.... but I loved them when I was a teen because despite having work the next morning, we used to go dancing until early hours of the morning, so as I love to dance I always ooked forward to Sunday nights..

Sunday mornings we went to church ..just us kids not our parents... I loved it, ..it was the only time I got to wear ''good clothes''....

Stopped going to church once I started working, because Sunday became my one and only day off so I like dot have a lie in, and then get everything ready for work the next week, and my dancing in the evening ...

Now Mondays...that was the day I hated....:playful:

Gary, to me it meant "back to work". My baby and I used to both used to consider it a blue day...

That's the way I feel about Sundays too Jim. Ron feels the same way. We both still work so Sunday, at least the latter part of the day...is prep time so that we can start the new week without any chores or errands hanging over our heads.

I didn't care for Sundays when I was working knowing I had to go back to work next day
I'm now retired,I start most Sundays by walking to my church for our early service{8:15,in summer 10am}I spend the rest of the day reading the paper. If the weather is good,I'll take my walks. There have been some Sundays when I just don't want to do anything, then the day really drags for me Sue

Not me. Sunday is our 2-hour walk day, year 'round, weather permitting. We travel to various areas within 1.5 hours and walk neighborhoods, bike trails, parks, etc.

When I was a kid Sunday meant the next day was school so that was kind of blah for me. Then it was off to college and I really started enjoying my studies much more so going to classes interested me so Sundays and going back to classes on Mondays was not a big deal. Once I hit the work force as a Physical Therapist I actually loved my job so that also didn't bother me except that my day started pretty early since regularly I would get up really early and head to the gym before work and do a light workout or swim, but that was my choice. Now I still at least 3-4 times a week go to the gym early in the morning and sometimes it is on a Monday morning. Days now are pretty much the same unless I am spending time with my friends or my Son and his family.

i like sundays---usually thats when i go for a drive while everyone is in church--the only time i go out during the week is for prescriptions thats about 2 miles away---usually on sundays the roads are pretty clear

Here , because all the shops etc are open, the roads can be more crowded on a Sunday than a week day ..

Every day is a great day. Never heard of "hating" a day. Anyone here ever heard of fishing, hunting, camping, boating, long walks in parks, long drives, picnics, etc.?

I liked Sundays, as a kid. I'd go to Sunday School, race home to watch Flash Gordon, on TV, and then get ready for Sunday dinner with my grandparents, parents and sister. Now, I don't like Sundays because the gf goes off to work, the next day.

Since I retired, I do my running around during the week and weekends I stay home. So other than that switcheroo, I don't notice Sunday being any different.

Retired 22 years, I get up when I feel like it and do whatever I am in the mood for. Once a month there is a concert in the afternoon over in the rec center.

Sunday is not my favorite day. There's not much to watch on tv since that's about all I do these days. It is becoming like just another day of the week though. Think I will try and find something new to do on Sundays.

As a kid I always hated Sundays; nothing special to do and for some reason we were not allowed to play outside with our mates? But we did have to attend Sunday school ; another boring event which provided the adults a chance to have some peace and quite?

later in married life sundays became a fun day for meeting friends ; barbecues etc - the only real day of rest in a busy week were we could relax and have fun.

later still during my 'church' years a day of rest and worship and now just another day in seven with which to do my own thing!

Sunday is my least favorite day also...everything is open here though but I seldom go out...during the week I go out every day.

Even though I’m not religious I was looking for a church to join but every time Sunday comes around, I nix the idea.

I like Sundays - always have. One of two weekend days, what's not to love? Instead of concerning myself with what the next day - Monday - might bring, I relished the day at hand.

As a kid Sunday was a day off from school - once Sunday school was over the day was mine to enjoy, as a young adult it was a day to be lazy with the man of the moment and/or splitting my time between the NY Times and the NFL, later on it was a day that the kids had off from school, now it's a day when we often get to see our kids and grands. As I said, what's not to love?

I never liked Sundays either, and still don't even though I'm retired. As a kid I had to get dressed up for church and usually stay dressed for a Sunday dinner, in the back of my mind was always the dread of having to go to school the next day. Same thing while working, I did look forward to the weekends, but Sunday was always a drag, and work was the next day. Now, the grey cloud still hangs over me on Sundays, just was never one of my favorite days. Now that I'm retired, I actually like weekdays better than weekends, better shows on TV or radio, not endless infomercials or sports, less traffic on the roads and in stores, and at the park, just feels right during the week for me.

Same here SB. While growing up, my parents had a rule that on Sundays, we would dress for church and then go visit an aunt or uncle on my Dad’s side. Usually, my sister and I wouldn’t be able to change clothes until after 3:00. Later in life and I married my wife, which is a Catholic, we alternated months between the two denominations. This month we go to church on Saturday evenings, but on most of those evenings, I don’t have to wear a coat and tie.

The other months, we attend my church on Sundays, which is Methodist and I generally will wear a jacket, but no tie. I feel more relaxed without a tie. I had to wear a tie for work, which was the standard United Airlines dark blue tie.

I haven’t minded Sunday’s since I started flying. I never looked at my job as just a job.
