How many of you had cataract eye surgery?

Did so in 2015, both eyes done. Decided to go for arms length distance after speaking to others. I still need readers.

After waking into others, and not being able to drive had no choice, going blind fast.

Was awake during procedure, it reminded me of look through a bad kaleidoscope, a lot of water was being used.

Mentioned to my doctor did not want to die blind... She laugh... It was worth it...

I've had both eyes done several years ago, about a month apart. The surgeon really talked up the multi-focus lens so I went for them. $2500 per eye extra (over what Medicare paid) and they made my night vision and glare problems even worse. I didn't do enough "due diligence" or I would have seen the number of people who were unhappy with them.

I was warned against the fancy ones for the reason you stated, insurance covered them.

I just had the regular surgery (about $500 an eye) and save the bill to declare on my income tax. I need reading glasses and sometimes wished I had gone for the more expensive surgery so I didn't need them. Oh well, I am still happy with what I have since wearing glasses would have been a pain with masks.

the VA did cataract surgery on both of my eyes years ago. I had a rare form called cloudy cataracts and was having a heck of a time seeing the distance, now I have a heck of a time seeing my finger nails. Glasses still but only to see with.... ha ha

I had both eyes done in the summer of 2019. I was in my 40's but had bad cataracts because of some eye drops I was on long term to reduce the swelling in my eye balls which was the result of my crohn's disease. My whole body is one big inflammation flare up. I was scared to death but the sedatives they give you really make you not care, and the surgery is way scarier to think about than it actually was. I'm very happy I had it done.

Taking hubby for cataract surgery tomorrow afternoon. I think they'll schedule the next eye for sometime in May. Our Provincial health plan pays for it.

There is a $300 fee for the higher-end lens, apparently. Do not know if health plan covers it.

Just had my second eye done today and I am walking around on cloud nine. My vision is so much clearer, colors more vivid, everything more brilliant! And I can see far away like a teenager🥰🥰
It’s absolutely painless, the procedure itself takes about 15 minutes. Gave me a whole new lease on life and I couldn’t be happier!!!
Now if they could just come up with something so easy peasy, and with such grand results for my hearing!!!! 😊

Wow, I wanted those and could not afford them. Thanks for posting this, now I don’t have to be sad anymore that I did not get them. Sorry you did, though. I have the long vision lens and use reading glasses.

I had combined cataract and glaucoma surgery one eye at a time, maybe a year apart. Ultimately I went from being very nearsighted with an astigmatism to seeing 20/20 without glasses for the first time since I was under 10 years old. I asked my doctor if I could listen to my pre-sterilized iPod to relax me. I was so nervous because I knew I had to be awake. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought and focusing on the music definitely helped.

I hope you surgery is successful Robert.
