The natural course of history is a road map to how the future should look as far as I am concerned. Wars, pandemics, cataclysms, and the like seem to keep balancing things out and give us the tools to not only contend with same but develop and sustain that which improves our quality of life. Back in 546 ad or there abouts, there was a massive world wide calamity. Volcanic eruptions, forest fires, floods, earthquakes, etc that decimated vast portions of the population. Took some time to recover, but the globe did and improved intellectually insofar as developing what was their technology. These mega storms that rage today are nothing new under the sun at all and these events all cause massive lose of life. When all happen at once, then there is a true cleansing of the planet. As for the date I mentioned above, it isn't accurate and I cannot remember if it was ad or bc, but it did happen and I'll have to research it again.
