How many ways do you cook potatoes?

How many ways do you cook potatoes?

I'm Irish.....soooooo..I like 'em any way shape or form

but

If I'm cookin' 'em?

Baked
big bakers
done
Skin burnt a bit

Generous real butter
Heavy on the pepper
light on the salt
I enjoy each bite with the skin

Hash browns

Zap tater halves a bit in the microwave
then
grate and fry
done...but not overdone
crispy on the edges

The French call this dish Pommes De Terre Lyonaisse. It really is simple and as the French say, so Ooh-la-la!
pommes-de-terre-a-la-lyonnaise-1.jpg
1⁄4cup shallot, finely minced
1 garlic clove
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb small potatoes
1 cup fresh chicken stock or 1 cup fresh vegetable stock
1 sprig lemon thyme
1sprig rosemary
salt
fresh ground black pepper.

In a large pan, saute the shallots and garlic slowly in the olive oil until caramelized.
Add the potatoes, stock, and some salt and pepper.
Cover pan and simmer slowly until the potatoes are tender, approximately 1/2 hour.
Arrange on serving platter. Remove herb leaves from stalks and garnish the potatoes.
Ooh-la-la!

The best are those just harvested at the Farmers’ Market. Usually a German Butter Potato.

In the winter when there’re blah, I’ll add white pepper to mashed potatoes.

Only one way.
~I open the container of instant mashed potatoes
~I add almond milk, I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray
~and onion and basil cream cheese (my own concoction)
~mix and microwave for about a minute and a half
You'd be surprised how much like mashed potatoes made from scratch it tastes. I never measure the ingredients.

I do like potato pancakes. Golden cooks them for me. Really..I heat them in my NuWave oven for about 10 minutes.

I rarely make regular potatoes but do cook sweet potatoes. I like them baked best.

I forgot once in awhile I will go to BK and have a small fries but usually don't eat them all.

None. l am a Hawaii girl and lean on the Asian side. No matter where we lived because of my dad (who was ethnically Japanese and in the military) we always ate rice, never potatoes. no matter where we were transferred to.

Once l did cook scallop potatoes because l liked thr guy who was coming to dinner.

we love most potatoes except not sweet potatoes. Is that really a potato anyway? Too lazy to ask google or alexa.
Sweet potatoes aren’t actually “potatoes,” dear, they’re a different plant (morning-glory family) and we eat the sweet root. Regular potatoes are nightshades and we eat the tuber. That’s why they cook and taste so different. When I want the classic kind, I make a cozy bowl of creamy potato soup.

Thanks, Sarah sam. I did not know that. Potato soup is a favorite here, too.
