How much do you spend for a haircut?

Women seem to spend what seems to me as outrageous amount on a regular basis, whereas men tend to just go to a local barber once in awhile...

But do you do hers?

I cut my own, too, not because I am cheap but because I hate waiting. At first I got some negative comments for some unevenness, but I have learned how to get it right by doing it once a week with the proper tools and techniques...

I agree Ralphy, it takes some practice, but once you've got it down what works, it's not too hard. I started cutting my own after some bad salon haircuts. I've got thick wavy hair and they always wanted to thin it or straighten it, which made it worse after a couple of weeks.

My husband gets his cut at the senior rate - ÂŁ4. I don't get mine done as often as I used to as I don't have it short any more and I've grown out my bangs/fringe. When I go though I get wash/cut/style which is ÂŁ25.

I've been visiting the same woman for my haircuts since I moved here 33 years ago! It's a tiny, two chair barber shop that's been in town for well over 50 years, run by a guy that took it over from his father. I pay $17 for a haircut (it's been this price for a long time) and give the woman a tip on top of that.

My hair is moderately long so it gets trimmed at the hair place maybe every other year. I can trim and lightly layer the front myself. Something silly IMHO is different prices based on perceived gender. It should be based on length of hair yes? The other day I took my daughter for a trim. I admit she could appear androgynous to some people. But they charged me $17..the price for men's hair regardless of length. A women's trim starts at around $30. Well at least they didn't ask her if she wanted a shave too:rolleyes:

$10 geezer price here in Fl. I used to get one for $3 if I happened to be in Mexico.

My wife hasn't cut mine in decades, she says it is like cutting Brillo. She cuts her own.

Go to a place in Hilo called Magic Cuts - $14 for cut plus tip = $20.
