How old is your clothes?

I generally go through my closets, at least once a year, and donate items I haven't worn for awhile.

There are a few favourite tops I just can't seem to part with.
Ditto.... I donate my clothes regularly so people who buy my stuff from charity stores are getting nearly new clothes...

I do have a few things I've had for several years... mainly my coats which were expensive..

Almost as old as me.LOL This reminds me of something my hubby told me years ago We were out shopping and I saw a dress I Liked and I said to him "If we get invited to Ronies wedding I'll come back and buy that dress" He answered me with "That's what I mean about you, your cheap." I answered him and said"If I wasn't cheap you wouldn't be ble to buy a $300.suit"He shut up after that.

Pants last me maybe a year. Shirts much longer. Maybe 20 years. Sweaters and coats, forever. I prefer to wear clothes of farm life - flannel shirts and blue jeans. I only wear city or office clothes when I must. And, strangely if I am required to wear city or office clothes that may be the decider about whether I will go or attend the event. Make me wear something I don't like to wear, and I won't be there.

I recently donated a London Fog pea jacket to Value Village. It was brand new, red with a scarf that came with it .. just did not feel all that comfortable. I hope that someone is enjoying it that it better suits.

I love Pea Jackets... they're so smart..but now in my autumn years I'm errrm....well endowed... lol.. which doesn't go well with double breasted jackets unfortunately..

Good thing you’re not asking my husband this question. I practically have to rip them up to convince him that the time has come.

Some top quality items are many years old, as are my wool winter coats. I have some family hand-me-down fur coats from the 50s that are in perfect condition. They’re also the warmest coats . It’s too bad the dirty looks by some people means they just hang in the closet. Someday my DD will have them made into throw blankets.

Sounds perfectly like me. I buy new clothes and hang them in the back. I do eventually wear them, but not until the old clothes have holes that have holes. I guess there's one advantage to being unmarried can wear what I like for as long as I like. Kisses.👕

Mine run the gamut from a sweater that is at least 45 years old to a shirt I just got this week and have not worn yet. When I moved to the country I had trouble letting go of my work clothes, but eventually managed to do that, saving one pant suit and one skirt suit. I haven't worn either one of those since I have been retired, but for some reason I keep holding on to them. I doubt I could even get into either one of them now.

I hold onto old clothes for two reasons: First because the item may remind me of something that they mean - an event, social meaning, period of my life, etc. Second, because I hate to shop for clothes. Nothing fits or feels good when new. Wash them a few times and they seem like good old best friends. But, that only happens by faith or hope. LOL
