How to Block Calls From Telemarketers

I use the far easier technique of not having a phone.

Works wonders. ;)

Decent advice on that website, but being the tin-foil-hat-wearing type of guy I would still be leery about giving my numbers to any government agency these days. If they want it they can just get it the old-fashioned way - have the NSA eavesdrop on my calls.

Many of the reverse-phone look-up services now charge for access to their databases, so that might slow down a little of the traffic to our phones, but it isn't going to affect the professionals.

The final advice - just say no to giving out your number - is golden.

My old answering machine is my poor man's butler. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE talks to the machine before reaching me. I love it.

Heard once about a guy who would just hand his phone to his three year-old daughter when the they called. Had another friend who would just talk to them forever and string them along . . .

When I still had a land-line and was feeling frisky, whenever I got a telemarketing call I'd start doing one of my voices.

The poor schlubs would have to talk to an outrageously gay man, an immensely fat man, several celebrities and a dog.

They usually never called back. :D

Got rid of my land-line phone about 10 yrs. ago. Good-bye annoying telemarketing calls.
Have a phone service on my computer, and my cell phone. ..neither generate all the unwanted calls.

Having a little kid around to take those annoying calls is priceless!! My son-in-law does that.
(Also, if someone comes to the door selling something - he tells them he doesn't live there - just visiting.)

I've heard the tip to tell them to hang on for just a second, someone's at the door...then leave the phone there until they get frustrated and hang up.

I love that!!! imagine how the caller must have felt; LOL!!

I have at times, acted like I didn't understand them...or said whoever they called for had moved on or moved out. Once I told the operator to "Trace this call", and hung up...(that was with a persistent caller). I don't have fun with them unless they keep bugging me, then it can get pretty hilarious. :p
