How to have fun with phone scammers

You should not keep the scammers on the phone ever.

They can access information from your phone.

And when they get a live wire response, they have your number which they give or sell to other scammers.

Remember . They dialed your number and they got a response which means they have a hot number.

Some say just ignore because if you pick up at all they know the number is good and someone can be sold something.

Once in awhile, when I'm feeling onry, and I answer the phone when one of these scammer calls, and I actually have a person on the line, I listen to their nonsense for a few seconds, and when they pause, I tell them "If you promise not to get emotionally involved, you may kiss my A$$". That usually results in their hanging up, and I never see that number on my phone again.

What I don't get about not picking up a call because otherwise then the scammer/telemarketers then know it's a real number, how does that work when they get your voice mail? Doesn't that tell them it's a real somebody's phone number? I could never understand that part of not picking up.

I pick up and then immediately hang up without getting into a little petit et toi (don't know exactly know what that means, but sounds good. LOl Hope it's not something dirty).

I have a setting on my cell phone called do not disturb. The only calls that get through are those on your contact list. You can set the times for it to be operational.

Blocking calls doesn't really work well because they have plenty of numbers they call from.

i had my voice mail disabled. You still get the missed called number to check out before you call back. We all know our friends and family numbers.

its a real hassle.

There are many of these video's out there and I find them very entertaining. Maybe it's just me but I am finding that some folks on here get too serious about these things. The longer one keeps a scammer on the call the less time these punks have to actually scam some poor person who believes they are actually talking to an IRS, CRA, Credit card employee or whatever.

My Wife wants me to ignore the calls but, hey, if I can upset a scammer my day is good. AND, their language can be salty to say the least when they finally figure out they have been busted. I assume some folks on here will find this to be a wrong thing to do but this is my choice.

We have an answering machine. When it goes to the machine, pests usually hang up. A few will leave a bogus message which we simply delete.

I've had a few of them droning on, on my answering machine. The trouble with that is, when I have a message on the machine, it starts beeping (to let me know I have a message). The beeping keeps up until I push the button to hear the message. This can be very annoying if I'm trying to take a nap.

I suppose there's a way to reduce the volume or even turn the beep feature off, but I'd have to remember to do that every time I want to take a nap, and afterwards turn it back on again! What a nuisance.
