How to ruin an already occasionally precarious relationship

Want to get on unsteady ground with a 5 year old girl? Agree to paint her nails.

I tried to tell her this could go very badly. Unfortunately, that was incomprehensible to her.

But I made it up to her - I took her to a nail salon.

Smooth sailing now, and it only cost me $32 plus tip....plus gas....plus finding the damn place.

This is in-born, right?
 

It must be. I once had a lady friend who, in a moment of either alcohol-induced euphoria or ignorance, asked me to do her toenails.

An hour later the industrial dropcloth had more pigment on it than her nails. It truly looked as if she had walked on her toes through a swamp of paint.

That event explained my sudden disappearance into the Witness Protection program ...

Little Sadie should have called it off when I ran and got the 3" paint brush.

It's like they don't even see these things coming.

BTW, next time, you might save yourself $32 by asking your new young receptionist to paint Sadie's nails. Of course, then you might find yourself forking out a lot more than $32 to buy Sadie a pair of peep-toes to show off her toenails as well as her fingernails!

Nah -- just "girls just wanna have fun" :)

For me, at 5, it would've been a pony ride.

And then horseback riding lessons.

That is so sweet!

I can't wait to hear more stories!! I'm sure there will be many after that! Lol
 
I remember the first time best buddy asked me to give him a make-over. Even after painting my own face for years I was all thumbs. But really you are a super uncle...but they done ripped you off. Mani/pedi...that's fingers and toes...in a pink princess chair for a girl under ten is like $14 around here.
