How warm was our Winter??

Yesterday late in the afternoon,my foster daughter and I went to the grocery store. It was chilly out and getting ready to rain. I went to put on my windbreaker and couldn`t find it. Not on the coat rack, not in the coat closet. Not in the back of my car. Couldn`t find it anywhere. Thought back to when I likely last wore it and realized that I haven`t needed it all Winter! I have worn a sweatshirt a couple of times when grandson`s baseball games have started late afternoon and run into the evening but I have not needed to wear a jacket-not even a light one-all Winter long! That is amazing-and a little scary as well....

We have had a very mild Winter where I live, and are now having a lovely Spring. only early in April now, but have been out and about without jacket/cardigan for the last week.

As you may know the NE of the US got a record amount of snow fall and colder than normal temperatures. Where I am in SW Ohio we missed a lot of this terrible weather. Subjectively I have become progressively less tolerant of cold weather and this winter I really suffered. The trip to my wife's nursing home is not far enough for the car to warm up but far enough for me to really feel the cold no matter what I wore.

Here in the Midwest we didn't get as much snow as we usually do, but it was colder than all get out.. Even still, it seems like winter just wants to hang on and on.. BUT it's slowly getting warmer.. and soon we will be turning on the air conditioner.. Spring in Chicago lasts about 5 minutes.

Here in Atlantic Canada we got more snow this winter than for many many years.
There is still a lot of snow on the ground and we had about three or four more inches just this morning.
It is getting very discouraging as by this time most years the ground is bare and starting to dry out.
It is a very cold and unusual spring and farmers are worried as it will be late before they can get on
the fields to turn a furrow and planting of crops will be late.

We had a fairly mild Winter. We only had about 12" of snow for the entire season. Usually we get at least one storm that dumps that much, or more. The temperatures were also fairly tolerable, and we probably didn't have more than a half dozen nights where the temperatures dipped into the single digits. We've had ample rain in the past few weeks, the ground is quite soggy, and more is expected in coming days/weeks. Everything is greening up nicely, and finding opportunities to mow the grass, when it dries out enough to mow, will be another annual challenge.

It was definitely a weird Winter for everyone,or so I keep hearing. We are getting a good rain today-only the third one since December. Year four of our drought....
