Huge Fire & Exposions in Florida

From what I can find online, they are saying that the employees made it out safely, but the pictures are showing an enormous fire ! I didn't see anything that said what might have caused the fire, but it might be way too soon for them to try and determine that.
We have had a series of fires caused by explosions in the last few months, and fertilizer plants, and oil refineries, and propane storage buildings are being destroyed all over the United States. Trains have derailed on places where they start fires, and almost every one of them, local people are reporting that there was one or more loud explosions.
Here is the link to more information and pictures of this latest disaster.

Sounds like the workers were very lucky to make it out. Does it look like there is someone setting off explosions around the country or is it just coincidence:)

The million-dollar question, I think ...

Most people would just say that it's God's Will or plain ol' bad luck. We conspiracy theorists look at it slightly differently ...

I've never been a believer in coincidence; whether for purely mathematical or metaphysical reasons I think everything happens for a reason. A large part of the reason involved with these train crashes, plant explosion, etc. is I think that the folly of Man's reach exceeding his grasp is finally coming home to roost. We've progressed so quickly and so far technologically, yet our morality and ethics and common sense have stayed at primitive levels.

Not good. :(

Also, coming home to roost is the educationally dumbed down, apathetic workforce, and an unobservant public attached by the umbilical cord to a cell phone or electronic device, completely tuned out to their surroundings and have limited observational powers or interaction with real people.

Well said.

It's not a popular thought but industries need a good framework of regulations.
Cutting red tape sometimes means removing vital safety protections.
Cutting the public service to the bone sometimes means allowing regulations to be ignored.

Don't worry .... those stupid enough to text on their mobile (cell) phones or have music blasting into their brains while crossing busy roads will soon solve the problem.

The last time I heard anything, they were saying that there were definitely people in the hospital in serious condition, so they did not all make it out like was first reported.
I am sure that some things are caused by mistakes, or inattention, but when so many of the fires seems to be caused by an explosion , and some of the pictures from the Texas explosion actually show what looks like a missile being fired into the building, it really makes me think that someone deliberately sabotaged the plant or the factory . Just too many of them for it to all be coincidence, to my way of thinking.

For several years when I was still in the corporate womb I worked as a safety manager for a couple of different industries, and I was never at a loss for an example of human greed and ego surpassing common sense and self-preservation.

At one point I worked in what was called a secondary lead refinery, which was corporate-speak for a place that melted down old lead vehicle batteries and sold the lead and shredded plastic back to the battery companies. This was in City of Industry, California, a hot, dirty town at the best of times but during the periodic smog attacks and boiling temperatures it was a veritable Hell, especially for the line workers on the smelters. In addition to PVC moon suits they also had to wear either powered respirators or RACAL breathing units, neither of which added to their comfort.

So I could understand them being tired when they got to take their breaks, but it didn't excuse sitting down to eat their sandwiches with hands and arms covered in lead dust and a zillion other metal contaminants. I was in charge of taking them out of certain areas when their blood-lead levels got too "hot", and I always wondered if they did that on purpose in order to get lighter duty or if they were just qualifying for the next Darwin Awards.

When I worked in the milk processing industry I pulled a guy out of a confined space and, although I knew he was already gone, continued giving CPR for 15 minutes until the ambulance got there - all because the bosses told him he had to get the job done ASAP and he didn't have time to "play around with all those OSHA regs" like using the buddy system or breathing apparatus.

I've seen multimillion dollar pilot plants destroyed because the manager was off boffing his secretary and his workers decided to read Bazooms magazine instead of watching the control panel.

So no, I'm not usually surprised to see these explosions and other accidents occurring, especially with the advent of cell phones and MP3 players. It's the thinning of the herd, which all too often includes many of the innocents.
