This is a BBC series available on the internet for viewing. It would appear to be citing and presenting the latest new scientific views by an anthropologist Ella Al-Shamahi on the origins of humans. Anyone with strong biblical views on this topic may find this quite disquieting. I would be interested in the views of David Attenborough on the series at some point. I'll say no more until other members have had a chance to view the topic - suffice to say "throw your bible stories away" comes to mind!!

Wow. I looked it up. She was a missionary.

I don't, but I also don't know exactly what to think about it. I wondered if the Neanderthals were nephilim. But Nephilim were giants and they're smaller. Or they were monkeys. No idea.

Maybe the word does not mean literal giants always?

Since they found soft tissue in a dinosaur I believe YEC. No way that's so old.

I watched this series and absolutely loved it... I have watch many shows of David Attenborough who I absolutely love, love love.
 
Thanks for the link. I'll watch it then comment. Have studied anthropology and ancient history. My own suspicion is, technologically advanced intelligent alien entities likely became involved in homo sapiens genetic engineering at some ape point during evolution. My views differ significantly from religious Genesis dogma, including Adam and Eve, not being the first humans but rather the first genetically altered that Genesis 5:1 + shows they all lived far longer than normal humans that points to some level of genetic engineering.

This is the book of the generations of Adam. On the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God...

I have believed this for a long time too at the expense of being thought of as a 'nutter'. I simply cannot believe that we developed a double-helix from primordial slime.

That is a different Earth evolutionary speculative issue than what intelligent aliens might have done in recent eras, only on the rise of intelligent apes. It may be that DNA organic life predates our 13.6 billion year old universe, into the far more vast eternal past. It is less likely such began as a result of say some lab experiments of intelligent entities because the first entities would in any case require a natural event, even if trillions of years ago. Because of incredible unlikely fine tuning in the universe that we technological entities now find, it may be that somehow evolved so as a result of natural phenomenon processes and is now self locked so.

The issue of the rise of DNA primitive organic life like bacteria and viruses on habital zone water worlds in this universe, IMO is likely a result of common widespread panspermia. The rise of multicellular life however may require intervention by advance entities with the Pre-Cambrian Explosion, possible evidence of direct panspermia on Earth, another possible sign.
 
David 777 - you would recall that in the OT there is reference to giants of men who co-habited with local sized women - is this part of this complex story?

My interpretation of much of early Genesis scripture is rather different than dogma of millenia of ignorant religious authorities including that pertaining to Nephilim. Instead, the so-called Nephilim read like genetically altered Adam and Eve descendants. In fact, scripture per above states they were men. And further, "mighty" doesn't necessarily imply "giants" as in ridiculous popular lore. One needs to understand, any extraterrestrial entities that are also DNA based would never be able to mate successfully with homo sapiens or for that matter, ANY mammals etc, because of the vast trail of different varying from earliest evolutionary genetic sequences on any specific planet would be impossibly different. So all those science fiction movies where some alien mates with humans is utter impossible nonsense scientifically.
