Human-Animal Hybrid Embryos Will Be Brought To Term

"Scientists in Japan could be on their way to creating the first human-animal hybrid embryos. The scientists are planning on bringing the embryo to term, which in theory, would result in a living human-animal hybrid." Oh the ethical dilemmas this will raise! Makes me think of the movie Splice. Your thoughts?

I always read original source if possible, rather than someone's interpretation of the original. Here's the Nature article referenced in the TruthTheory article linked in post #1. vhttps://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-02275-3

There will be no horror movie type "half human half animal" monstrosities produced. Just animals with a human organ where the animal organ would normally be - - organs that can be transplanted into humans to save their lives.

I would think - speculating here - that the ultimate goal would be to use your own stem cells so that your body would accept the new organ without any objection from your immune system.

Yes, I read the original article a couple days ago. That is the goal. I read another that said there's a 14-day rule re: hybrid embryos, they must be destroyed on the 14th day after creation, and scientists were asking for an extension so they can get more useful data.

Guess they got it.

The aim has always been, for science anyway, to get teeth
to regrow, at any time of your life, another is to get severed
limbs to regrow, like a Lizard's Tail, or a Crab's Claw, that I
think might be the target.

Mike.

They got us use to it before creating a human/animal first with the Wolfman...

and of course Spiderman....

It's good that you posted the "link" to the source article. Here is the clickable link: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-02275-3

"Some bioethicists are concerned about the possibility that human cells might stray beyond development of the targeted organ, travel to the developing animal’s brain and potentially affect its cognition." Maybe we won't be seeing monstrosities like in the horror movies but obviously the process still has some concerned. One of my concerns would be that a "mad scientist" would try to take things too far. Wouldn't it be something if this process boosted the animals' intelligence so much that the mouse will come up and ask you for a piece of cheese? Okay....now I'm just being silly. :D
