Hurdle for son to overcome

I have seen some horror stories with my vets also. But in the case of QS son, all the positive steps towards recovery have either been taken or are in the works. In my experience, he has every chance of building a good life if he stays on course. I am very optimistic.

QS, I truly wish you and your son well. My family struggles with an alcoholic family member as well, though she is not doing nearly as well as your son.

I think you've done all the right and loving things, and I hope and pray he will continue to do well. Alcoholism is such a terrible thing to deal with, both for the person with the problem, and their family.

The apartment is his! I talked to the property manager last night and now all we need is to establish a move in date and a lease signing.. I'm thinking he will be in by Thanksgiving weekend. I'm a wreck...

Sounds great QS, will he be having Thanksgiving dinner with you guys?

Yes... and my plan is to make several dinners for him to take home and freeze to have later.. I'm going to worry about him eating properly. With rent and everything else he needs to pay, I don't want him on a diet of Ramon noodles.

That's very thoughtful of you Quicksilver, you're such a caring mother, he's a lucky son to have you. I wish him the best.

Quicksilver, I just saw this thread, I wish the best for you and your son and his struggles.

AA helped my son immensely, his life was in disarray just 7 short years ago.

My step-son is a little over a year clean, from his drug addiction.

I pray to God that everyone's son, daughter(and in my case- grand-daughter) find their way back from substance abuse, and get back into a healthy life.
