Hurricane Helene Growing Into Major Storm

Our people in Florida and south eastern states could be in harm's way. Please be careful. Prayers go out to you. Be safe!
I was just watching YouTube channel Max Velocity about this... he'll be live tomorrow. Looks as if it will cover (in some way or other) all of Florida and then keep moving north as a TS. Stay safe, everyone in the southeast!

It's headed straight toward my father's house. He and his wife are up in New York right now at a family funeral, so they're safe. I just hope their house will be OK. They've been on the road for a few weeks and so probably didn't get a change to take precautionary measures.

I see this morning that CNN is calling this "unsurvivable".... if anyone here is in the path where these surges will be happening, please don't play hero... find a way to get out fast.

“A catastrophic and deadly storm surge is likely along portions of the Florida Big Bend coast, where inundation could reach as high as 20 feet above ground level, along with destructive waves,” the center warned. “Preparations to protect life and property should be completed by early Thursday before tropical storm conditions arrive.”

This makes me feel sad, yet it happens every year, is
there no way to stop them, from forming, daft question,
if there was, they wouldn't be coming along.

I visited Florida 20 years ago and was surprised at the
large number of wooden houses, this I found strange
as it is almost guaranteed to get hurricanes, surely I
thought, bricks or concrete buildings would be better!

I hope that you all stay safe, I can only pray that you do.

Mike.

Our @squatting dog is from Florida. Stay safe and protect your loved ones. We are praying for you and everyone else in its pathway. 🤗
Thank you P.P.
Had a drizzle of rain last night and... of all things, the sun is shining brightly right now. I'm far enough inland to be reasonably safe, but, I worry for my brother as he's real close to the gulf in Hernando county. Tidal surge is his worry.
Took my tractor out and made a few drain paths around the property and serviced the generator. That, plus the solar system on the motor home should provide enough electric if need be.
Already told my brother if it looks real bad to head over here and stay.

There was this dude in Florida who decided to ride out a hurricane in his newly-purchased house and the first gust blew the entire roof clean off. Later investigations revealed that it had only been secured by one nail.

If the weather forecasts are correct, by the end of this weekend there will be thousands of homes impacted, and a large number of deaths. Thousands may be without power for days. A 20' Storm Surge will damage/destroy any structures located within a mile, or more, of the coastline. This may be one of the most devastating storms to hit the US in years.

I wasn’t going to post this, but here goes.

We have a home in Florida and a friend of mine down there called me and was telling me about his friend that was supposed to get married here on Clearwater Beach. The beach is closed to all functions due to the hurricane about to make land. The funny part to the story is that his former wife’s name is Helene.

Karma shows up again.

Imagine the EVs. Driving or caught in traffic jams until they're dead and blocking traffic with no way to charge. Or shorting out because of flooding reaching the batteries slung under the car. Or just running out of power as battery packs try to keep themselves cool and dehumidified. Or hydroplaning off the road or into other cars because of the hard tires they use to bump their economy and range.
