Hydration water flavoring without heartburn?

I tried a VERY small squirt of ReaLemon in water and still get heartburn.
Seems my search shows most teas will do same.

Any good suggestions for flavoring water?
I'm not fond of plain water.

Answer
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing heartburn from lemon water and that most teas seem to cause similar issues. Here are some suggestions for flavoring water that may be gentler on your stomach:

  1. Infused water: Add sliced cucumber, berries, or herbs like mint or basil to your water. These tend to be less acidic than citrus fruits.
  2. Coconut water: Naturally sweet and hydrating, it's often well-tolerated by those with sensitive stomachs.
  3. Herbal teas (caffeine-free): Try chamomile, ginger, or marshmallow root tea, which can be soothing for the digestive system. Serve them iced if you prefer.
  4. Diluted fruit juices: Mix a small amount of non-acidic fruit juice (like apple or pear) with water.
  5. Essence waters: Use natural flavor essences or extracts (like vanilla or almond) to add taste without acidity.
  6. Electrolyte drinks: Low-sugar electrolyte beverages can add flavor and help with hydration.
  7. Milk alternatives: Unsweetened almond or oat milk can be mixed with water for a creamy flavor.
  8. Cinnamon stick: Add a cinnamon stick to your water for a subtle, sweet flavor.
  9. Frozen fruit: Use frozen berries or melon as ice cubes to slowly infuse flavor as they melt.
  10. Carbonated water: If carbonation doesn't trigger your heartburn, try flavored sparkling water without citric acid.
Remember to introduce new options gradually and pay attention to how your body reacts. If heartburn persists, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional to address the underlying cause.

Thanks Paco. Good suggestions.

I may also need some brain additives as only yesterday did it dawn on me that you "SF VIP's" are VIPs on this FORUM!

Had me going for a while wondering how many SAN FRANCISCO VIP's found their way here. šŸ˜†

The only time I drink plain water is when it's extremely hot and I've gotten extremely thirsty and when I'm at the gym, which is not on the regular. My favorite water enhancer is Starburst strawberry in liquid form, which is sugar free. It contains All the powdered water enhancers contain aspartame, which has been linked to cancer. You can find the ingredient label for the Starburt online. I'm fairly certain that drinking all that food coloring is no good for me, but I just don't like plain water, except for Hackensack, N.J. tap water, but I don't live in Hackensack.
