I’d Like To Start a Comic Strip

With all due respect I had no intention of using my likeness in this manner. In fact my idea for my comic strip was going to be based on my Aunt Mavis and her likeness, with her permission of course.

I posted my avatar in good faith, the gentlemanly thing to do. I’ll find another forum, thanks.

Respect appreciated and given in return. I shall post no more on this thread.

Unless an image is copyrighted, it can be used without permission, especially on the internet. Even if an image is copyrighted, it can also be used, even if there's monetary gain.

Years ago, someone used a pic of a piece of my artwork online as advertisement. I asked a lawyer friend if I could sue and she asked me how much my artwork was valued at, and how much the infringer made. I told her probably a couple of hundred, each. She said that that is how much I would get in a lawsuit, but it would cost me much more to file.

This is all in gold fun, anyway- something a cartoonist requires is a sense of humor.

Yes
That was encountered on a site I frequented a couple decades ago.
One of our members was notified he had used a copyrighted image.
Nothing happened in the courts, but the mod deleted the related posts anyway.
The site was Mofifake
It'd turn motivational posters into demotivational posters
I was the old geezer as most the members were 20 and 30 somethings

That site shut down a few years ago

We still have a group email about once a week with a handful of members

Bottom line
If there's little money involved, lawsuits hardly ever come to fruition

I do hope Aunt Mavis returns and continues to enjoy this thread
he created. It was off to a fun start and excellent idea for a comic
strip.

I think it is understood at this point, that he does not want his
profile pic used for any other creative Avatars.

Hope you return Aunt Mavis..

I'd like top start a comic strip -It’s called Aunt Mavis. It’ll be about Aunt Mavis. Discuss. - I thought that was what we were doing?? - did I miss summat???

1.jpg Aunt Mavis chopping wood outside her cabin.

2.jpg A bear approaches Aunt Mavis, growling menacingly.

3.jpg Aunt Mavis calmly turns to face the bear and says, "You picked the wrong cabin, buddy."

4.jpg Aunt Mavis chases the bear away with her axe, shouting, "And don't come back unless you've got some honey!"

1.jpg Aunt Mavis resumes chopping wood. :)

With no knowledge of Aunt Mavis what I conjured up in my mind was the nose art of a B-24 Liberator. A cheese-cake portrayal of a young woman and with the name of the plane being Aunt Mavis.

Davey, I think just a matter of miscommunications between the OP and members,
I don't really know...:)

If Aunt Mavis returns to clarify further that could be nice, and if not well then
there's that..
