Been wanting, dreaming, fantasizing about a ’49 Willys p/u for a few decades now.

Back in the ‘70s an acquaintance rebuilt one
Not showroom
Just very functional
Primer was his finish
The term ‘covet’ became quite defined
Homicide seemed doable

Anyway, my good young friend down the path sent me an ad a few days ago

$1500 OBO (nuts cheap)
Offered $1000

It’s now mine

Primarily, I just want the body
Maybe the frame….maybe

Thinking small 8 or V6

For now, however

I can touch, sit in
Play in
My dream

Good for you Gary, glad your dream came true and you didn't have to resort to homicide. :playful: Nice little project to tinker with, cool truck! :cool2:

Congrats - it's always nice when dreams come true.

The transmission looks like my first Erector set. ;)

It sounds like a fun project!

I envy you that you have the knowledge and talent to take on such a daunting challenge.

We have a local man that restores old pickups. He has one restored truck that has an exterior very similar to your Willys. I'm not sure how he managed to keep the old battered look, maybe just a clear coat of some sort, but it's fun to see him tootling around town.

Have fun and good luck with your project!

That's so cool. Love Wiilys character as is, well, maybe just enough tweaking to get it running. And I like how you still keep dreaming. Makes life interesting.

Hey Gary, if you get stuck, give a shout out to the All Girl's Garage...you go girls! They refurbished a '57 Chevy while training other women who joined in from different areas of the car repair business. Together the result was amazing. Although, of note, is that I think they got a BMW engine already refurbished for it. But they do engine work too sometimes.

Coincidently, I had just been watching a tv show today called Right This Minute, just after reading your thread, and thought of your '49 Willys Pick Up when this segment aired. Check out the shows video in this link showing this project (Gail and Charity are just part of the TV show's crew): http://www.rightthisminute.com/post/rtmtv-anticipated-57-chevy-pickup-restoration-unveiled-sema
