I cannot abide....

Two things bother me far more than they ought to!

1) People who say anythink, instead of "anything" (let alone "anyfink!). I come across this all the time, partly because of the dialect around these parts. Turns out the word anythink has been around for some time (since the 1700's) but when I hear it used I know the people mean "anything", they're just getting it wrong. Happens with "somethink" and "Sumfin". :D

2) In written language, it's the misspelling of "lose", which is written as "loose", no doubt due to predictive text and the inability of a spell checker to notice.

Now, I have an accent, and being from Essex it's a weird one that commonly drops H's. I try really hard not to do that, but if I'm tired I can hear it coming back into my voice. Old habits.... And goodness knows, typing on the net isn't an English class, and I no doubt make more mistakes than most. Still, these two things bother me more than they should (online communication is primarily about being understood, after all).
I had a friend who always said the words "any road" instead of "any how". I couldn't correct her, but it used to get me every time she said it.

Grew up in a Southern family, so I heard 'Earl' for Oil, 'Rat Now' for 'Right Now', etc.

Moved to Hawaii where the kids spoke 'Pidgin' in the early 60's, where every phase was a question:
'You like Go?', 'You like Beef' (beef meaning Fight), 'Somebody cockroach my surfboard' (to steal)
and my favorite 'You got Da Kine?'

Moved to East Anglia, UK and heard all kinds of words and phrases that were new to me.

Now back in the South and you here different words for common items: Hose Pipe (Garden Hose)
Tow-Motor (Folklift).

Learned to just roll with the changes and not put too much concern with how people talk...

These things don't bother me. How a person speaks is just that. I have no reason to judge or make others feel bad about who they are. I also feel no need to point out proper spelling or grammar.
And to this remark let me say "AMEN" !! I'd hate to list the things that really are annoying and worrying to me - - -beginning with our (wife and I ) health concerns.

"In all honesty"....
"Not for nothing, but"...

People who like all your Facebook posts and wish you a happy birthday year after year, but when they see you in person, they avoid you.
Yeah, don't you love that old them seeing you out of the corner of their eye and darting down another aisle so they don't have to talk to you. And then later say, "Oh, I wasn't avoiding you, I never saw you!" Uh huh. Phooey.

People who think that others are obligated to share their cigarette smoke.
"Bastards who always say": "Amen! Hallelujah! God bless you! Have a nice day!" After they insult you.

Are you ever obligated to share cigarette smoke? Can't you just leave the room?

ps: I'm a life long non-smoker.

"I was just joking..."

Yah well that insult, coupled with "I was just joking" doesn't sound like a joke. If you were going for funny, be funnier.

"My bad" - apologizing for a mistake. That makes no sense.

One of mine is the reverse case.

Often I'll unconsciously use vocabulary that somebody else isn't conversant with. They're the one who gets peeved.

Sometimes years later one of the words has descended into a lower vocabulary register and I'll hear that same "peeved" person use it... and just chuckle.

Yes, I have been and presently am being forced to share cigarette smoke. That's because It isn't single room issue as you suggest. It involves the entire building where I live and which is supposed to be smoke-free environment but they are ignoring the rules and violating the lease agreement.

Also, since the apartments are not hermetically sealed from one another, the smoke seeps into other apartments through the crevices in the walls. Neither is it just a mere slight inconvenience as it might be for you. You see, in my case, the involuntary sharing of smoke resulted in losing two telemarketing jobs when the smoke from smoking coworkers made me cough constantly, and finally resulted in my losing my voice and permanently damaging my vocal cords. Smoking also induced and exacerbated my asthma. So yes, I find it frustrating.

I know what you mean. The following is what has been done legally in Hawaii in the last several years.

Legality of Smoke-Free Condominium Policies in Hawaii Smoke-free policies are legal for condominiums in Hawaii in March 2007,Representative Sylvia Luke of the Hawaii Legislature requested an opinion from the Hawaii Attorney General on “whether state or federal law prohibits a privately owned complex or condominium from 1) renting to only non-smokers; and 2)adopting a smoke-free policy for the property, including individual units and lanais

”The opinion from the Attorney General’s office reads as follows : Accordingly, it is our opinion that state and federal law allows a privately-owned condominium to adopt a smoke-free policy for the property, including individual units and lanais, so long as such a policy is properly included in the property’s controlling documents or the condominium association has demonstrated that smoking has unreasonably interfered with other unit owners’ use and enjoyment of the property.21 Letter from Shari Wong, Deputy Attorney General, Department of the Attorney General, State of Hawaii to the Honorable

Let me axe you a question. Are you saying dat deliberate and intentional ignorance is annoying? Dis could be a prodlem. Aldough, I don't know why dey would do such ting on purpose.
When I was a member of the African American JWS congregation in New York City, I also noticed that they sometimes tend to substitute the letter Z for the letter S.

Examples:

Wuz, for was
Izz for is
Huzband for Husband,
Morpheuz for Morpheus,
Jezuz, for Jesus,
Notiz for Notice,
Cruiz for Cruise
Lozer for Loser

Never bothered me. I just eventually started doing the same.
