I don't even know why I bother

I learned to spell with the look see, so I excel in four letter words. Why use a big word when a little one is better. besides they say, "if you cannot spell a word look it up in the dictionary" if you cannot spell the word how do you look it up?
If you type it in a search engine the engine will either auto correct it or ask if you meant ____?

A few years back, there was an app or something that was being talked about called, if I remember rightly, PWI, Posting While Intoxicated; it'd supposedly make you wait a little before hitting "Post" or "Reply" and cut down on some bad posting/replying. (It could also be not a real app, just being talked about.)
Thing is our brains have such an app: Common Sense or good judgement! Because unless i'm very upset with someone i very carefully proofread any lengthy post/comment of mine, that gives me time to re-evaluate what i am saying. It goes to show how much being upset (angry or hurt) can influence our rational thought processes, because i proofread my 'upset' posts too---but i miss more spelling and grammar errors because of mental state.

And my own such errors bother me much more than others---as long as i can glean their meaning. This why i sometimes edit posts the next day---but generally only for spelling/grammar not for the message.

Senior Forums here also has something I've found to be useful--used it in fact just a few moments ago when someone responded insultingly to something I said--the "Ignore" button! So you don't even have to engage with 'em; just ignore them for now on and move on.

What gets me is someone complains that someone else was rude, then a pack of people jump right in and RUDELY help the complainer state how rude that person was. You know, "pot....kettle.....
Don't really know what deaver did to set it off, but did 9 more people need to jump on him for it? Playground crap.

i REALLY enjoy a misspelling/misuse that could make your coffee shoot out of your nose.

once got a fancy mailer for a pre-season ski sale... before internet. a big card (maybe 5X8) with very bright, eye-catching colors on one side. the car explained that the card would get me into the private sale... a few days earlier than the PUBIC sale!

i was about to send a memo out to EVERY department head and VPs and college PREZ. our supervisor had a "policy" that we run every memo past someone else in our department... for corrections/editing. when i heard my boss laughing uncontrollably, i hadda check it out. seems that the word "assigning" became ASSsigning! OOPS!

i welcome comments about typos/misuse! especially when they make me laugh!

I didn't get that vibe at all. I felt most of the posts were diplomatic in their disagreement with the opening statement. Show me some posts where rudeness was involved in the replies.

I don't like the use of "inferring" when it is intended to mean "implying".
infer/imply... word that i honestly am never sure about... like affect/effect. misuse of then/than is a bit like nails on the blackboard to me.
