I Guess Some People Are Just Not Into Sports

Well, how many of us known who won the 2023 Worlds Series just a month ago? Okay, without Google, who won the 1956th, the 1988th, the 2001th. Who won the 1984 Superbowl? In 1999? in 1978?
Most like sports for the excitement of the game and not for sports trivia.
They need to change the name of the 'World Series'....it is not 'the world', just the US.

No they don't!!!!! It's the World Series! It always has been the World Series! It always will be. The United States made baseball famous before any other country! The names of some baseball players over the years, have been known all over the world. Being that baseball is the only sport that I ever literally loved all of my life, and still refer to it as America's Favorite Pasttime, I usuallly hate changes in baseball. I will always refer to the Cleveland team as the Cleveland Indians, not the silly Guardians. Now in the NFL, the Washington Redskins had to change their name since that was a real racial slur.

I can well remember my mother saying, “If you’re a boy, you have to play at least one sport!” My parents tried desperately to make an athlete out of me, sending me against my will to youth baseball and basketball clinics and intermural teams which I hated and failed miserably at. The cult of the student athlete was oppressively strong as well at my high school. If you played a sport for a semester, you were given a golden trophy at an awards ceremony, with attendance mandatory for the whole student body. If you were an “A” student, you got zip…

It was only in college and beyond that I discovered the availability and appeal of individual versus team sports such as fencing and martial arts, acquiring some competency in both…

Ya, but its not the World Series. doesn't include other teams around the world. What, are they afraid of losing to another country?
Funny how many of us Americans live in a fantasy land, void of the truth.

My father was a real sports fan of all sorts and loved to wager on them. One day the bookie he used gave him a 'formula' to figure out the winner of all the races on the card each day. He practically made a fortune that year. But, at the beginning of the first month of horse racing the following year he found that the formula no longer worked. What does that mean he wondered? And, realized betting on the horses was a rigged game. He never bet on horses again, and eventually stopped losing money on any of the sports figuring that they are all probably rigged through formulas of their own which change each year.

Not quite actually. There's the American League Toronto Blue Jays in Canada who won back-to-back World Series championships in 1992 & 1993.
I always try to take in a game or two each summer. It's a fun day out

I guess you can call me an Ice Hockey addict. Our friend introduced me and my hubby to Ice Hockey many years ago and we had season tickets for years, We even saw them win the Stanley Cup.

Let's be honest now. In a sense, you're familiar with the Norwich Navigators. Well - - - -maybe not the Navigators but I bet you've heard of Norwich. 🤣

I'm definitely not. I used to go to football games just to support our school when I was in high school, but didn't really understand the game. I took my son to see the Harlem Globetrotters when he was young. Basketball, I can follow better. I enjoyed the game and have even watched parts of a few games on T.V. but that was while channel surfing. I hate baseball, thanks to my father. He hogged the only T.V. we had when I was young to watch baseball games. I think it's the most boring sport.

My son used to like the Dallas Cowboys when he was young (I even got him a pancho with their logo), but hasn't regularly watched sports as an adult. My second husband was not into sports at all. I'm glad I wasn't saddled with watching Sunday afternoon sports.

Football (Soccer to Americans) is the only sport I follow and watch. I'm not a maniac like some you see on Youtube, but I've supported my team since the 1970's, so I'm going to stick with them. :)

In fact, live football is about to start, and I'll be watching that for a couple hours. My team aren't doing well, which can be a bit of a bummer, but what can you do? Football fans live in eternal hope. :D

I guess I'm just not into contact sports. I know it's kind of odd, but I like watching pool or bowling tournaments, even golf, although I've never played that.

I have been involved in athletics since young, I love the competition, I love to push and test myself. Yet I rarely watch sports, bores me to sleep. When I get around people talking stats and fantasy leagues I start looking for the exit.

i like sports but don't have live tv or the time to watch them. and i don't have everyone memorized or stats or anything like super fans would.

The San Francisco 49ers......Joe Montana Jerry Rice
Oakland Raiders

I'm in California, those are the only teams I paid attention to when I would watch the games.
Now, not so much.

And speaking of high paid coaches, Ohio State's Ryan Day gets a little over $10 million per year, and he isn't the highest paid. Nick Saban of Alabama is currently the highest paid, but Jim Harbaugh of Michigan has a new contract that pays $55 million over 5 years.

Good work if you can get it...
