I have a flat inspection tomorrow

When we lived in Royal Navy Married quarters , there was always an inspection ( Inventory) on moving out... and if they found any dust or dirt anywhere..even under the carpets or a stain on a sheet or pillowcase , we were fined..

Is this inspection because you are moving or is it a regular thing that takes place?

I haven't rented, so I'm not sure of the rules where your at. Here in the states, I don't think it's done until you move out.

We don’t have regular inspections in the apartment complex where I live.

I sort of wish that the city required an annual inspection every year and a report of condition, prior to signing a new lease.

The last inspection we had was triggered by city housing code violations that had been ignored repeatedly.

A man from the city codes enforcement department came through with the apartment manager and two of the maintenance technicians.

He waited while the maintenance techs replaced a defective smoke detector and an automatic door closer. He also chastised the manager for not addressing the paint bubbles on the ceilings and the peeling paint around the radiator pipes, both are lead paint remediation violations, so far nothing has been done to address them.

We had another inspection about five years ago that supposedly was done by the lender that holds the mortgage but I recognized all of the people as members of the senior property management team, not sure what they were up to.
